So now we hear that Bush met with religious-right bigwig James Dobson to ask him to get his people on board to back Bush's planned attack (and probable invasion) of Iran.
And now David Sanger has a new NYT article apparently designed to assist Bush in pitching his plan.
But here's something that you won't see in the NYT anytime soon — or anyplace in the US Big Media:
VIENNA, May 11 (Xinhua) — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday said Iran has not hampered the IAEA's inspection of Iran's nuclear facility.
"The information… is untrue," IAEA spokesman Marc Vidricaire told a press conference when asked about recent reports that last month Tehran refused to give IAEA inspectors access to its Natanz uranium enrichment base.
"We have not been denied access at any time, including in the past few weeks," he said.
"Normally we do not comment on such reports but this time we felt we had to clarify the matter," he said.
The whole article's worth reading, but that's the money shot. Something to think about the next time Ted Koppel (aka discredited Middle East "expert" Kenneth "Threatening Storm" Pollack's father-in-law) appears on your TV screen to tell you why we must bomb Iran.

zed?
That’s two for today…
With probably the exception of the Air Force I don’t think too many groundpounders really want to go to Iran.
Okay, now you’ve got your zeds, go read the links! ;-)
How is everyone this sunny Wednesday?
AZ Matt @ 3
Airforce-groundpounders oxymoron!
AZ Matt @ 3
Fallon does not want the U.S. to attack Iran. Thinkprogress has a post about that today. He said it would not happen on his watch.
Think Progress reports that Admiral Fallon the commanding officer in the region has said:
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/…..n-carrier/
why confuse us with reality, why start now? and don’t stop the koolaid supply either.
For those questioning the veracity of Xinhua, here’s Reuters saying the same thing.
Crazy, wacky Daddy Bush — tell all Americans your fucked up Rapture plan, please!
I think the bomber boys are hot to trot over Iran. More shock and awe.
Iran — look at the terrain! Mountains the whole way around the border…with few passes that are easily guarded. No one in their right mind would try a ground invasion.
I’ve got an uneasy feeling that rather than Iran going nuclear, the Idiot-in-Chief wants to use “the football.”
That mushroom-cloud you may see in the skies over Iran will be because W aka “Little Boots” got his wish.

Onward Christian Soldiers? I’m revolted.
(Why does Bush want to bomb Iran all the time?)
AZ Matt @ 3
The Air Force hasn’t really had its war yet this century, unlike everybody else. AF’s the most evangelical branch of the service. They are itchy, they want to go, and they see the long-term Biblical gain
Hi Phoenix Woman! After hearing about the debate and the votes in the senate today, it’s all coming together and heading to a war without end.
uh-oh, I left an italic open at 14 mods!
sorry
So what is this Cochran Amendment? I really don’t get it, and am no more clear from the last post – No offense, Jane. It is probably me, since I always thoroughly enjoy and absorb your writing.
But, what is it? And, what does it mean? Reid is done for this year with regard to jaw-boning on Iraq?
Phoenix Woman @ 4
Surviving is how I are on this sunny Wednesday. And trying to type around the feline.
I would like to believe that this admin is not so stupid that it would go to war or attempt to provoke a war with Iran since that would most likely bring everyone in against us including China and Russia.
I would like to believe it.
But I don’t believe it because Chimpenfuhrer and Darth are BOTH that incredibly stupid.
And may Dog/Goddess/Gaia/Supreme entity of your choice have mercy on us.
ralphbon @ 9
Thankee!
TeddySanFran @ 15
Uh, Tricky Dick gave them a pretty damn free hand in Linebacker I and II but they fucked that up with dumb-ass SAC rules.
raven @ 5
AF has a lot of Security Police/Law Enforcement/Augmentee types who would fill the role of ground pounder
AZ Matt @ 3
Nobody sane wants to do it. Unfortunately, I’m not sure the PNAC Platoonies count as “sane”.
Reduced to using Republican tactics, are we?
The quote in your story is: “…the next time Ted Koppel appears on your TV screen to tell you why we must bomb Iran.”
Would you please cite for me where Ted Koppel has taken that position? I believe proper reading of his position at http://www.latimes.com/news/op…..commentary is quite contrary to the “Bomb Iran” position espoused by the author, Joshua Muravchik.
What $$$ would they be able to use to attack Iran??? Is that why it says in the Cochran amendment that the funds are depleted. Has the Pentagon or whoever usurped funds for Iraq/Afghanistan for Iran? What happened to the $$ for the ‘07 budget? How much $$ is available for that kind of operation?
Airforce-groundpounders oxymoron!
AF has a lot of Security Police/Law Enforcement/Augmentee types who would fill the role of ground pounder
I know, I’d run into them at AJ’s in Destin. Of course it was AF Security Police that escorted me to the gate of Pleiku Airbase and put me out because I had an M-16!
Brisingamen @ 12
They are going to go for the oil reserves. Cut of the isthmus.
By the way, speaking of less-than-sane fascist dingbats: I see that the goosesteppers running the American Legion are all hot and bothered about John Edwards telling the truth about Iraq.
Those boys are just begging to have their dirty anti-American laundry laid out for all to see, aren’t they?
How could Iran dominate its region by having a nuclear capability when there are already two nuclear powers in the area; Pakistan and Israel (oops, sorry the Israeli bombs don’t exist do they?)
dakine01 @ 22
I have a nephew in the AF who is about to go over and do exactly that.
AZ Matt @ 30
Well, now that I’m through foolin around, their rescue dudes are the best there are!

I think we’re up to our great-great-great-great-great grandchildren now.

Carol Anne @ 24
You’re conveniently leaving out the rest of the story, Carol Anne:
Elliott @ 35
amen.
Oh sweet jeebus, I hope someone sits on these guys, very very heavily. Bombing Iran would lose us all the oil in the rest of the world, fast. (That’s assuming we survive doing the bombing. Which is not at all a sure thing.)
P J Evans @ 40
That’s part of the problem, these a**hats in charge make Scarlett O’Hara look like a pessimist.
Hey, Firedoglake hearts.
Still trying to get through to a working 800 number for congress.
As I reported downstairs (is that right?), I talked to my friend Greg Palast about who he has given the KarlRovemails to….see previous threads. He is turning them over to John Conyers. But, when he called Leahy’s office regarding them, they weren’t interested. I think this is something that WE should follow through on.
I’m still trying to get an 800 call through to congress. I heard Charles Schumer on NPR this afternoon saying he would do everything in his “Powa!” to get to the bottom of this.
I’ve gotta go get my kid from school. I’ll check back here when I get back.
dear speaker pelosi –
where is the bill you promised telling president bush he can’t attack iran w/o congressional approval?
war without end – AMEN!! bushco’s mantra unfortunately………………
aghain- with apologies to EPU – theres fuckery afoot in the land ;o}
selise @ 37
I’m with you, their last one fizzled.
But I’m still getting my popcorn ready for this one, and maybe a bottle of tequila for an “I don’t recall” shot
contestfest :0dmoore i think these are the numbers i use
congressional numbers
800-828-0498
800-459-1887
or 800-614-2803
one of us owes the other one a coke for that “Iran so far away” joke – here’s my proof. of course in a totally different context…i will consider myself of a single thought with another great mind.
selise @ 43
we need to know, like, right now.
Elliott @ 35
I spent some time today putting together a couple of care packages for a young man who got to Ramadi about 3 weeks ago. Man I hate this shit.
I remain an Iran skeptic. Bush is certainly goofy enough to attack Iran but key groups in the military would resist it. More importantly a lot of rich Republicans and corporations won’t back a move that would lead to a worldwide recession and the loss of much of their equity.
@ 48
Hey, it gave me the excuse to use that Crock of Smagols pic as a backdrop for the Iran map.
From the AP, this afternoon:
These are the sorts of things which will get Bush/Rove/Cheney to stoke up the “Christian Soldier” jingo war machine… This fits nicely with the theory that someone – Emperor Chimpy, Darth or Rove’s Mormon zombies will in deed get the Theocracy they cannot control like an imperial pawn..
To continue Cowboy foreign policy in January, 2009, vote for Mormon Mitt Romney so they can smite the infidels to keep Monica Goodling types controlling the US Departments of Government – “Evangelical and Republican? You’re in.”
Puesto @ 53
I would point out that the Taliban does play some role in this situation.
Attaturk @ 7
If the Fallon report is true then it’s possible that this appointment of Gen. Lute as “War Czar” is a way of sidetracking the good Admiral so Bush can start provoking his Iran War direct from the White House.
The business with Fallon allegedly bucking the White House on Iran happened three months ago. Then we began hearing about the search for the War Czar.
Jest bein’ paranoid…
dmoore (from downstairs) -
WTF……..that Leahy’s office didn’t want the docs from Palast! Just how totally stupid are these people? And PTL that Conyers will have his hands on them. Here’s hoping that, out of 500, there are some nicely rotten eggs in the batch.
Elliott and Selise – good question.
And Harry Reid told us at YearlyKos that he would insist on a full debate and real legislation before any attack on Iran … somehow today, I’m not so sure.
PW – ya think W had to twist Dobson’s arm very hard to get that support?
Puesto @ 53
I’m getting a certain “perfect storm” feeling here today. There is too much that needs doing: intense pressure to get a new AG to save waht’s left of the government is putting pressure on WH to get rid of Gonzo. But before he goes (as he must) the WH will be forced to strike Iran quickly, because attacking Iran will never happen after he goes.
Am I making myself clear here?
Anybody else getting edgy enough to go out and buy water and duct tape?
itwasntme @ 59
Why bother?
When the end comes, it will happen so fast that none of us will ever notice.
Puesto @ 53
To continue cowboy foreign policy in January 2009, vote Hillary Clinton.
Poopy Bush killed 250,000 Iraqis
Bill Clinton killed 500,000 Iraqis
Shrub Bush will have killed over 1,000,000 Iraqis by 2009
Hillary Clinton will be too busy killing Iranians to even count the Iraqis her government is killing, but it will be a lot…
itwasntme @ 59
you’re taking me there talking like that. We really should be prepared for anything, enemies from without and enemies from within without scruples.
Brisingamen @ 12
I lived in Iran in the 70s. The terrain is just as you describe–and is traversed by very narrow primitive roads (for the most part). There is no way a ground force could ever control that place.
They want to get Iran because they want to read the riot act to the radical Shai in Iraq, who haven’t played along with all their scheming like nice grateful little children. Iran’s cussed independence sets a bad example.
“Someday America will have the Government it needs instead of the Government it deserves.”
siun, I saw your comment in the last thread that confusion might be the aim of what is happening in the Senate. I agree. I think Reid is being way to cute by half and stepping all over a clear Democratic anti-war message. The goal was to get a bill into conference committee and the conference report, i.e. the final version of the bill is the only thing that matters. Everything else like the Cochran sense of the Senate resolution means less than nothing.
Phule @ 60
The job of Dems has to progress quickly to create our own political perfect storm, so we can get rid of the Bush admin as quickly as possible. That means getting Senate Repubs on board and that won’t be easy. Convincing people Dubya intends to creatively destroy Iran with nukes might help advance our cause, but only if we can force the proper change before he gets to carry through with his ‘football pass’.
Hedley Lamarr @ 55
Adm. Fallon is quoted in the parent article as having said:
Fallon’s refusal to support a further naval buildup in the Gulf reflected his firm opposition to an attack on Iran and an apparent readiness to put his career on the line to prevent it. A source who met privately with Fallon around the time of his confirmation hearing and who insists on anonymity quoted Fallon as saying that an attack on Iran “will not happen on my watch”.
Asked how he could be sure, the source says, Fallon replied, “You know what choices I have. I’m a professional.” Fallon said that he was not alone, according to the source, adding, “There are several of us trying to put the crazies back in the box.”
Fallon isn’t alone in the military in trying to “put the crazies back in the box.”

Citizen AZ Matt and the Firepup Patriots:
“…I don’t think too many groundpounders want to go to Iran.”
And not too many “grunts” wanna go ta Iraq either, but that doesn’t seem ta make a good God damned bit a difference. The only way we avoid the “end days” scenario the fascists have cooked up fer us is national non-violent marches, demonstrations, general strikes and a revolt of the general staff.
Our elected Democratic leadership is too timid ta lead and half a the Democratic candidates fer preznit are DLCers and fascist fellow travelers.
KEEP THE FAITH BUT ITS YER ACTIONS THAT GET YA TA HEAVEN!!
The Air Force Academy recently denied tenure to a Biologist who supported evolution, and hired another who didn’t. Pushing the world toward “End Times” is probably right up the alley of the A.F. brass.
Richmond @ 69
I USED to be proud of having served in the AF.
Richmond @ 69
Interesting. Do you have a link?
MarkH @ 66
Anything short of impeaching and executing Bush and Cheney is a waste of time at this point as far as Iran is concerned.
They’ll do it, because they don’t care that it’s wrong and don’t feel bound by any rule, law or restriction at all. All legal wrangling aside, this administration ignores the Courts, Congress, the Constitution and the people because nobody is willing to do what it takes to stop them.
They have Blackwater and the Secret Service and military escorts and screw everyone else, because what are you going to do about it?
Hugh @ 71
No. I learned it last year from a former instructor at the Academy who though still in the service was pretty frustrated about the place. It should be pretty able to “dig out.”
Ed*ard Teller @ 67
$5 says he is one of those exact same crazies trying to run out the clock. He wouldn’t be in charge of operations in this admin otherwise.
I mentioned last night that if we really want action on Iraq, then the Dem anti-war leadership needs to put something forward to the effect of 25% troop reduction by September or 25% of the off-line war budget goes into the budget, and 50% by December or 50% of the war costs go into the budget. And, to pay for it all, a special Iraq
sorry – sent too soon.
… a special Iraq war tax will be imposed on Americans making over something like $250,000. The only thing that will change this thing, is to bring this whole thing into the budget and make it clear what it is going to, and who will be asked to pay.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz will not resign under the current “cloud” and would rather push the matter to a vote of the bank’s board to clear his name, his lawyer said on Wednesday.
“Mr. Wolfowitz will not resign under this cloud and he will rather put this matter to a full vote,” Wolfowitz’s lawyer, Robert Bennett, told Reuters.
1,516 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND..
Firepup Patriots:
I am now convinced there will be a quick mobilization of whatever regular combat forces we have left in this country and a conventional attack on Iran because the fascists know Iran doesn’t have “the bomb” or the means ta deliver it except on itsOWN self. The Bushies will do this because they really don’t want the American democracy ta survive ‘cuz then they’re toast anyways…the corporate oligarchy is committed to the complete destruction of the AmericaN system of governance and almost half our elected Democratic leadership have cast their lot with these nut jobs.
KEEP THE FAITH AND DO THE RIGHT THING…GOD IS WATCHIN’!!
Richmond @ 75
Does anyone remember when Wolfie went up to Capital Hill and testified that invading Iraq wouldn’t cost the US taxpayer a single dime?
I’d love to see him called up again to account for the wide disparity between what he said it would cost and what it did cost. And they thought this guy could run a bank.
Ladies- What kind of lip gloss does Chris Matthews use?
OT,
Thanks Hugh.

It’s beyond stating the obvious to say the Bush administration is a criminal enterprise.
It’s so beyond obvious, that Congress is on the verge of being an unindicted co-conspirator.
Does anyone know who else besides Dobson was at the meeting with Bush?
Thanks for doing a much needed spot on Iran here at FDL. Concerned citizens (many here at FDL) and a Democratically controlled congress are attempting to hold those responsible for serious “crimes and misdeeds” during the Bush administrations hold on our nation. Although the very same “cakewalk in Iraq” zealots have been able to repeat unsubstantiated claims about Iran through out the MSM that go mostly unchallenged.(Chris Matthews is one of the only mainstreamers that has endlessly challenged these claims) The latest platform that I have heard provided for the war zealots pushing for a pre-emptive strike on Iran was John Bolton on NPR’s Talk of the Nation a few weeks ago. http://www.npr.org/templates/r…..=storyview
Neil Conan basically provided Bolton with 40 minutes to repeat unsubstantiated claims about Iran without challenging him once…not once. Deja Vu
Kenneth (completely wrong about Iraq) Pollack is “allegedly” US Gov 1 in the A*P*C case/trial coming up in June.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A…..ge_scandal
Ted Koppel (Pollacks father in-law) has done some of his own unbiased (choke) reporting on Iran. He called his unbiased report “Iran; The Most Dangerous Nation”. In this report Koppel says that we can not deal with Iran diplomatically.
http://dsc.discovery.com/conve…..ts_03.html
Ted might consider listening to a few other opinions from General Zinni, General Wesley Clark, Madeline Albright, Zbigniew Brezinski, Scott Ritter, Flynt Leverett( who quit the Bush administration before the invasion of Iraq because he disagreed )go check out what Flynt has to say about Iran at New America Foundation
http://www.newamerica.net/publ….._iran_4550
All of these folks are pushing for diplomacy with Iran, and many of these people question the intentions of the warmongers. As many of these same individuals did before the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq
Iaea’s El Baradei has said that there is “no hard evidence” to back up these claims about Iran. El Baradei has also asked for the “inflammatory rhetoric” on all sides to be turned down.
Let’s Challenge these unsubstantiated claims and demand that the MSM do their jobs and ask challenging logical questions instead of rolling over and being complicit like Neil Conan was with John Bolton.
Hundreds of thousands of people have died and been injured in Iraq and millions have been displaced.(and counting) 3200 American soldiers are dead, 50,ooo injured.(and counting) All of these deaths, injuries and refugees are a direct result of an invasion based on lies about WMD’s. The lies and false intelligence were created and dessiminated by the “cakewalk in Iraq” zealots. (with some help from SISMI) Iraq is a tragedy that our nation is responsible for. Let’s not let these “cakewalk in Iraq” turned “Iran has nuclear weapons” drowning in blood crazies do any more damage than they all ready have.
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=4551
Come on Greg Palast, we love you, you are a great journalist. But, how about a few e-mails for your good friends at FDL. We will not tell anyone. You never know, Marcy or Josh could scoop you anytime.

Burts bees
Bolten is in Europe pushing for an Iran attack per CNN.
I think they are going to try do this, and I think that most of the Dems in Congress are going to go along with it. If they weren’t, they would put a bill out there right now – they’ve had plenty of time, and they have done nothing to stop the advance toward an attack. The only thing that could possibly stop them is the military saying no, and I don’t think that would be successful, because Bush will just put a different commander in. Just my 2 cents.
I am so disappointed in this Congress. The Repubs continue to act like they are in the majority, and the Dems just rollover and let them.
From Noam Chomsky:
Tomgram: Noam Chomsky on “the Iran Effect”
The results of an attack on Iran could be horrendous. After all, according to a recent study of “the Iraq effect” by terrorism specialists Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank, using government and Rand Corporation data, the Iraq invasion has already led to a seven-fold increase in terror. The “Iran effect” would probably be far more severe and long-lasting. British military historian Corelli Barnett speaks for many when he warns that “an attack on Iran would effectively launch World War III.”

The US has swept aside repeated overtures from Tehran. Is it any wonder if the Islamic Republic now wants the bomb?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/comm…..28,00.html
rwcole @ 77
Bennett is blowing smoke. Wolfowitz has a permanent cloud already from his Iraq madness. The World Bank fiasco simply confirms the pattern. I would dearly love to see Wolfowitz fired but this all strikes me as haggling. Bennett is holding deuces and he knows it.
Nicely done. Thank you. Pretty sad when the official Chinese news agency, Xinhua, provides more vital information regarding the exercise of American foreign policy than the MSM or the US Govt. What percentage of voting age Americans do you think read that?
i need to know something please. why is it i keep hearing that rove and company can stonewall till bush is out of office. Implying that once bush is out of office that there is nothing that can be done to them anymore to hold them accountable.
To me this makes no sense since it seems that even when they are not in the white house anymore they could still be charged with crimes. Unless there is a statue of limitations.
But one crime i do not see being limited to that is obstruction of justice. Since if they delay till out of office, then the emails and everything comes out shortly after that. That evidence i am sure will point to obstruction of justice.
So please some of you legal types explain to me how they cannot be charged with crimes once they leave office.
Thanks in advance
Carol Shea-Porter NH up on cspan2
Much to my disdain, it went largely unnoticed when the Guardian reported that Bush tried to use military force in Iran already… when the British sailors were captured. Tony Blair rejected the offer.
I would like to know why Tony Blair has more say in whether we go to war with Iran than Congress or the American people.
I haven’t heard squat about it from anybody in Congress.
Best. Title. Ever.

Thank you Fallon. Someone has to take a stand against the PNAC crazies.

Why hasn’t Greg Palast released the emails. And what was someone referring to when they said that Congress doesn’t want them. Guess I need to catch up.
Phoenix Woman,
Love your map of Iran. Several decades ago, I spent a number of months on two occasions in Dezful, which is on your map, I am happy to say. But that was before the Revolution.
I have also been in Tabriz, Tehran, Kermanshah, and Ahwaz on your map. Interesting times, interesting places!

Remember folks, the only hope the Rethugs have in winning the Presidency is for us to be at war (Iran), and then there is always the chance that using the war they can further clamp down on our freedoms. And with the Supreme Court dictatorial inclined Opus Dei dream team to back them up who knows what the outcome will be.
Hugh @ 51
i might agree – if i was sure there wasn’t going to be a terrorist attack that couldn’t be blamed on iran (regardless of actual responsibility).
and i’m not sure. ‘cuz everything i read about the AQ-related strategy (see robert pape for lots of this) is to isolate us and destroy us financially. provoking bush/cheney et al. to attack iran would fit with their goals and previous strategy. and bush/cheney et al. have been willfully blind to how their buttons are being pushed.
here’s hoping i’m full of shit.
solai @ 104
Why doesn’t Palast just post the emails on the net? They were sent to his own email address in the first place, iirc.
From todays Guardian:
Fast forward to 12 months from today, when the US withdrawal in Iraq may finally have begun, and it is possible to sketch out a far more worrying scenario.
By then Bush may feel the worst of Iraq is behind him. His Republican party and its presidential nominee will be looking for ways to rally voters ahead of the November election. Iran will be a year closer to nuclear weapons capability but not, probably, quite yet there (and therefore unable to retaliate on a nuclear scale). And like his pal Blair, legacy issues will on the president’s mind.
Bush has indicated previously that he does not want to leave the “Iran problem” unresolved. And 12 months from now, after the most damaging and incompetent presidency in living memory, he may just be tempted to go out with a bang.
Richmond @ 106
I unfortunately agree :(
Dover Bitch @ 100
Pelosi crossed out the line in legislation that would have require the Bush administration to come back to congress before they would illegally and pre-emptively strike Iran, after she was booed at a recent A*P*C conference
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/p…..070314.htm
Senator Webb has put forth legislation that would require the warmongers in the Bush admininstration to come back to Congress first
http://webb.senate.gov/newsroo…..?id=271432
i wonder if congress could pass a bill fully funding the *official* U.S. armed forces but cut off paying Blackwater et al ?
considering Iran, everything short of nukes will totally cut off the U.S. from mideastern oil. and like i opined before, Baghdad Airport is in Iranian missile range, which would severly disrupt supply to U.S. forces in Iraq. also attacking Iran will alienate Russia (ok, kinda moot point atm) and *China*, which can hurt U.S. economy even more than 100 per barrel crude.
well, secular democracy prevailed in turkey last week when the military threw the anchor. so let’s watch out …

Should read: I have NO reason to believe…
The elections are beginning to seem like a distant memory. If things continue as they are, I see the following:
All of the scandal stuff ends up in court and ultimately favors the neocons because of the Supreme Court stacking.
Gonzo stays, Rove stays, Cheney stay, Condi stays, etc.
This country bombs Iran and Syria, perhaps with Israel.
We will never leave Iraq (I think that is already clear)
We lose more of our civil liberties.
We end up in a major recession.
Martial law is claimed prior to the ‘08 elections for some reason and delays elections indefinitely.
Unless the Dems start taking some ballsy action soon, any one or all of these things could end up in our reality.
Dover Bitch @ 100
Remember the neocon chickenhawks screaming that they…“couldn’t believe the 15 British sailors didn’t fight back?”
I wonder why??? Could it have been a little wrinkle in the plan to attack? False-flag operation gone bad!
It’s not the only way. I think they’re going to steal it. And speaking of which, a thought occurred to me last night. Remember all the votes by soldiers that didn’t get counted. Well, what’s to stop them from reviewing all the absentee votes filled out by our soldiers and tossing the ones they don’t want. Yes, I know…that’s illegal, but we’re way beyond that. So, sending even more voters off to war may help them in an election. Tinfoil hat firmly in place.

just feelin’ it and wonderin’ where the hell it’s comin’ from……….just sayin’…….scuse me, ain’t we got oversight still happening?

PW–thanks for catching this.
Say….how do we go about having a comment removed that shouldn’t be here…. as opposed to over there …..?
Ted Koppel’s OpEd seems unlike him in his prime. He was ordinarily more contextual and nuanced. He was one of this administration’s early critics, managing to get that across despite the watchful eyes of ABC’s editors and owners. Perhaps it’s age and the sun of Sanibel that has changed his perspective. I was in China when his daughter covered it as a young journalist; she’s made of entirely different stuff than dad.

thanks, i wondered what the hell happened………..will read up, but already posted again on the next thread without being informed…….love you. thanks.
But of course, …because remember Ted Koppel, as well as Hills and Bills were exclusive guests of a Strategy Forum and privy to HOW our next administration & AIPAC WILL BE dealing with Iran…
Wouldn’t you have liked to have been a fly on the wall at THAT Forum?
Or, wondering if anyone will EVER ask her what she had to say at the forum when her discussion topic was:
U.S. Strategy in the Middle East: What Works, What Doesn’t?
Mr Saban “I’m a one-issue guy and my issue is Israel”(NY Times Sept 5, ‘04) is sooo impressed with Hillary that he’s even bought up a Latino radio station to help her get into office — apparently.
How Haim Saban, a flinty self-made billionaire, plans to turn Univision into the next great network – and put Hillary Clinton in the White House

Wonder if the Koppel’s will soon be using their presence on the TVeee to push Hills aswell…?

We must’ve been there about the same time. I was mainly down in Khuzistan most of the time. Where were you?

His daughter’s married to Kenneth “Threatening Storm” Pollack, the guy who, unabashed by being proved totally effing wrong WRT cheerleading the invasion of Iraq, is doubling down by pushing for the invasion of Iran.

I dunno. How stupid indeed. Ewwww. Do you smell that rotten egg scent? Well, I’ve got several more 800 numbers….thanks to the commenter above who provided several more. Tomorrow is a new day, and, make no mistake, I’ll be calling. Lahey, Feinstein, Schumer and Whitehouse! Thanks all.

Ted Koppel (Latest senior news analyst at NPR) . Former employees at NPR have claimed and gone to court over NPR’s “pervasive cronyism” when it comes to who climbs the ladder at NPR and gets the upper level spots. There was a study done of NPR about the “alleged” cronyism and the results were never released.
Notice how Ted Koppel has used his new position at NPR to push for aggressive and military action in Iran. You can go to NPR’s archives and have a listen to Ted Koppel.

Lilly white assed, yellow bellied drowning in the Iraqi peoples blood “cakewalk in Iraq” crazies!
They moved to the “Iran has a nuclear weapons program” spin immediately after the invasion of Iraq. Most MSMers (not Chris Matthews) have let them repeat the unsubstantiated claims about Iran endlessly and unchallenged. Deja Vu! Deja Vu!
So it’s not enough to terrorize Iraq; now we turn our terror on Iran, too, again for no good reason. And the American people don’t wonder why we have such an awful reputation in the rest of the world? Is there any clearer evidence that our Commander Guy is insane? The American people don’t want the war in Iraq, either. Can’t Congress stop this man before he begins the implosion of the entire world?
