Sticking to what Bush has done “right”, not what may have gone right during his time in office, or as a result of decisions made for him…. That’s difficult. I think that agreeing to trust another to pick out appropriate dress for public functions was the only thing he’s done “right”. Other than that, every action and utterance has been wrong in some way. Of course, demonstrating that money can buy power, regardless of how retarded and morally bankrupt one is, has given hope to an entire generation of redneck luddites. That might be considered “right”, if extending the vision of the wingnuts past their next 12-pack of piss is a good thing….

George W. Bush has lowered taxes on the very rich; defeated the Taliban until they came back and drove the US out of Afghanistan in 2008 ; presided over the <strike>greatest</strike> Worst economic growth in the history of the USA since Reagan; gone on offense against the <strike>Islamo-Fascist enemies</strike> the USA <strike>faces.</strike> He’s done a great deal right for Osama Bin Laden.

I think that “What has Bush done right and according to whose standards?” is the wrong question. Whether what he has done is “right” or “wrong” is subject to interpretation.

A much better question, much less subject to interpretation is, “What has he done well?”

1. Damage to the US’s reputation, respect and influence abroad, is much greater than most Americans - everyone who relies on the US MSM for news - yet realise. Some of it can, at least in theory, be undone by a new president fairly quickly, but when Bush was RE-elected full recovery became impossible, for at least a generation and perhaps for very much longer.

The question of whether Bush stole the election(s) is irrelevant; the numbers who voted for him were bogglingly large regardless. IMO a new Dem administration’s first priority - even before dealing with electoral corruption - should be the reinstatement of pre-Reagan era media ownership controls.)

2. I’m surprised that no-one has mentioned the good Bush did by doubling the price of oil and ensuring that some of the world’s largest reserves of oil remained largely unexploited at a time when the world’s greatest contributors to anthropogenic global warming were still in denial. The headline BUSH INADVERTENTLY SAVES PLANET, which I first dreamed up several years ago, may yet form part of a historian’s assessment of the Bush administration.

George knows how to handle a chain saw. The only problem with this prowess, is that he gutted the constitution, the military and the treasury with it. But the brush looks great.
