“The Vatican’s official newspaper accused an Italian comedian on Wednesday of “terrorism” for criticizing the Pope and warned his rhetoric could fuel a return to 1970s-style political violence.

In an unusually strongly worded editorial, L’Osservatore Romano said a presenter of a televised May Day rock concert, which is sponsored by Italy’s labour unions, had launched “vile attacks” on Pope Benedict in front of an “excitable crowd”.

“This, too, is terrorism. It’s terrorism to launch attacks on the Church,” it said. “It’s terrorism to stoke blind and irrational rage against someone who always speaks in the name of love, love for life and love for man.””

So, if someone at the event went out and hit a priest over the head, this Italian comedian could be accused of complicity in a “hate crime”.

How many weeks do you reckon ABC will dawdle eeking our the names they have – call me cynical but when I read they are only naming two horndogs Friday evening I’ve grown more skeptical of their true motives.

Actually, according the WaPo, they’ve identified about a thousand. At present, there are roughly ten names that they’re considering releasing; one of the criteria for name-release is the hypocrisy involved by the individual. I think that’s why the USAID guy got named.

So I think there’ll be additional name releases to come. And supposedly … um, ?Brian Williams? was really pissed when he learned that they were only going to release two names; he thought they’d be naming more tomorrow and he’s really annoyed that they’re not.

Have been pissed of since seeing the two names only Friday night. The adminisration must be gulping a load of x*n*x or booze awaiting the names seeping out of the swamps and DC backwaters.
