I’m a homeschool mom from the Pacific Northwest.I have spent the past 18 years volunteering for community projects. I realized that no project was more important to our community than ending this insane war.
My husband is a Vietnam veteran and I’m a Vietnam protester.
I got a permit from our small town to hold a ” No More War” rally in a beautiful, fragile park in our town. This park is a historic memorial built to honor the local soldiers who died in foreign wars.
I signed the permit as a private citizen.And our city officials,feeling the need to honor the First Amendment, granted me permission.No organization watching my back, no “we” in this event planning.My husband is more cautious and we had heated discussions about being so “out there” and exposed. In the end our passion for America and her glorious Constitution won out.Our belief that we do not own our world,we are only borrowing it from our children and their children led us to the courage to resist this regime actively.
A transformation has happened by our taking an overt action to help America regain her balance. Young people are excited to talk about the recruiters in their high school. Musicians are planning songs knowing I’ve got mediocre sound equipment. Poets are finding a reason to speak. I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of energy just waiting for an outlet.
I would never have felt comfortable to take such a bold action as a private citizen if the private citizens who educate and consolidate a large group of Americans hadn’t taken bigger risks of exposure before me. Thank you, Firedoglake and all your wonderful contacts. May you truly feel the love!!!

completely OT, but I just saw a Raw Story headline that USNews headline is “Bloggers salivate over DC Madam.” We should absolutely ignore it. Who gives a shit really. I didn’t give a shit about Clinton’s BJs and I don’t give a shit about the DC Madam’s customer list. If someone else wants to get all judgmental about basic biology, that is on them.

I wasn’t aware that Clinton was all hystrionic about what a great morality figure he was…

…and is there any evidence that Monica was paid for having sex with Clinton? That she received a better job for it (maybe those cons should have waited a few years)? Or that anyone other than the Republicans tried to blackmail Clinton or extort legislation/political actions from him (”Wag The Dog”) for these acts.

Dusty Foggo, the guy who ran the CIA’s vast purchasing agency was given his whores by a LOBBYIST as a “gift” for his “service” to the country lobbyist and his client organizations.

How many of these thousands used public money, gave political favors, were blackmailed, took lobbyist money to pay for this, etc.

If they did it on their own dime… and were not some moralistic b*tt-cr*ck who droned about Howard Stern, or “the blogs”, or college radio making ribald comments, or insisted that they neede to oust the Democrats to bring “dignity back to government”, or “kids should remain abstinent and wait ’til marriage to have sex”, or “marriage should be between a man and a woman, andsex within the confines of mariiage”, etc. then I say let the law handle it. But prostitution is illegal and that might, just might, indicate that the individuals have a low regard for the law and their responsibility to it.

I don’t know of too many legal prostitution advocates in Washington, except perhaps the Congressional delegation from the State of Nevada.

Like you, I’m not interested in those sorts of things. Maybe their wives would be, but I’m not.

It’s where their activity influences and interferes with their working in the public interest that concerns me!

And there is a lot here that concerns me!
