“But Saudi frustration has mounted over the past four years, as the situation in Iraq has deteriorated. King Abdullah was angry that the Bush administration ignored his advice against de-Baathification and the disbanding of the Iraqi military. He became more frustrated as America’s image in the Muslim world deteriorated, because Saudi Arabia is viewed as a close American ally.”

Surprise! Now the Saudis are getting ‘frustrated’ (code for ‘fucking pissed off’)at our brainiac decider with the legendary reverse Midas Touch as are the Syrians who both want boots on the ground over there (but have no ‘diplomatic’ way to put that out on the horn)to stave off the growing insurgency and chaos…aye aye aye.

EXCELLENT music pick, loooove this song. I saw Eric Clapton in Chicago perform “Can’t Find My Way Home” when he was touring with YVONNE ELLEMAN. She sang it so unbelievably beautifully! Would love to find a recording of that show.

They’d throw Bush under the bus right now except Bush is king to the rabid base who coincidentally own and operate the Repub party. It doesn’t help that this same base is pulling the GOP more toward the extreme just about everyday on any issue.

The people that got them elected are about to collapse the Republican party.

” Of those Who Have Attained the Position of Prince by Villainy” Chapter 8 “The Prince” Machiavelli Gosh what can I say Nick cannot praise nor can he ignore the accomplishments of those who rise to the level of Prince and “kill one’s fellow-citizens, betray one’s friends, be without faith and without religon;”. Nick thinks that the reason these princes survive is because they commit “Well committed ” treacheries, well committed treacheries “are perpertrated once for the need of securing one’s self, and which afterwards are not persisted in, but are exchanged for measures as useful to the subjects as possible. Cruelties ill committed are those which although at first few, increase rather than diminish with time.” Our President and his Mayberry Machiavelli’s obviously never read Chapter 8

Sorry I am way late but this topic is one I’ve been waiting for! ” The Way to Govern Cities or Dominions That, Previous to being Occupied, Lived Under their Own Laws” “And Whomever becomes the ruler of a free city and does not destroy it can expect to be destroyed by it, for it can always find a motive for rebellion in the name of Liberty” Machiavelli ” The Prince” Chapter 5. Sure Most Republicans will say Iraq was never free and we have freed Iraq if nothing else. Or have we Liberty is freedom to do as we please, preferably under the law. With Liberty most of us CHOOSE to follow Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Physiolgical food shelter clothes

Safety and Stability family and society knowing it is safe to walk down the street.

We have NOT done OUR job in Iraq we have not created the conditions in Iraq where the Iraq people could follow these first two steps. Survival first must be secured and defended before liberty and democracy. Saddam a torturing mass murderer killed less Iraq’s than we are STILL killing NOW! It is no wonder the people rise against us. We have done more than take away a free cities liberty, we are taking their lives and the Iraq people are responding in kind. The Iraq death toll is for good reason a number the Bushies don’t talk about that number explains our failure.

I love this blog and all that, but at the risk of sounding like a “concern troll” may I point out that The Sopranos is a work of fiction, and to indulge in comparing the doings and not-doings of the Bush Administration to a work of fiction–especially an ongoing, public-environment-influenced work of fiction–is to venture into our own little circular echo chamber.

To liken BushCo like to something in history, or to something in a published work of fiction, is one thing but to compare it to a TV show is solipcistic wish-fulfillment.

George Bush is a TV show, and he has his own echo chamber, otherwise known as The Mighty Wurlitzer. Fuckwad is a lot like Tony Soprano, not one whit smarter, just as treacherous but not as manly. I don’t know what Christy’s faults may be but solipsism is not one of them. You also need to do a spell check.

Yep…The Prince has been misinterpreted by the idotic ideologues. I have little more to say, as I read this excellent artical while listening to Blind Faith, one of my alltime favorites from the day.

Good thoughts good words good deeds

We need to convince them to send the next bill to Commander Codpiece with even stricter and more binding rules.

In a negotiation, you can cave after the first round, or you can get tough. It depends on weather you’re coming from a position of strength or weakness, weather the other person wants what he wants from you MORE than you want to give it to him. Let Codpeice flap in the wind, and see how quick he caves.

Joe Klein’s conscience @ 74

I don’t have my CD collection with me, but the whole blind faith thing made me think of the guy that mentioned my name in concert once. In fact the song on the Live 1975-85 album in where he mentions me is pretty close to the song I am about to reference. To quote as closely as possible … “Blind faith in a country .. a person .. anyone .. can get you killed” … of course I am talking about Springsteen’s intro to “War”. If someone has the exact words, it would be appreciated if they post it. I think it fits this pretty well, even though the Republicans are only gonna get killed metaphorically.

Somebody wrote a song about Joe Klein? ;)
