You bet we need more petitions, more phone calls, more emails and faxes, more marches, more pressure, more everything to get these movements to critical mass and keep raising awareness as we raise our voices loudly on these sins. I don’t want to hear marches don’t work/ are too expensive/don’t get covered/aren’t cool enough to attend/excuses. Especially coming from any people who were too young and/or didn’t march with us during Watergate. If we’re begged for money-emails-calls we can beg right back for some more actions, any actions, it is all worthy and needed.

Are we printing out posts like this and leaving them everywhere we go? Are we printing out pictures of the carnage on our luxury photo caliber printers and leaving them everywhere? It terrifies the wingnuts when the masses say Oh Hell NO!, and they do know they are cornered animals, the jig is up. They’ll keep up their false bravado which is only a false sense of security. The Natural Laws of the Universe are catching up with them.

There are times when I regret not having a fast connection, but given the comments above, this is not one of those times. On the other hand, I did hear the news today about the bombings in Iraq — it was about the only story that broke through the wall-to-wall coverage of the tanker crash (explosion/fire) here in the Bay Area that brought down one freeway on top of another. [The only injuries were to the driver of the truck (but he was in good enough shape to get out of his cab, walk to a nearby gas station, and catch a taxi to the hospital).]

For all the bluster in DC about a broad strategy for stabilizing Iraq, the only thing that gets done is bombing and killing. But finally, more and more military folks are saying, in more and more public venues, this cannot be solved by military means. It must have a political solution, and the Department of Defense is not set up to provide that.

When will Bush listen?

When the oil runs out.

Watching Tenet this evening on 60 Minutes, I didn’t see anything new.

I did, however, think that his mea culpa for the 16 Words was very weak – he said he was very busy with ‘a lot of things’ – so he passed off the final draft of the SOTU to an assistant with instructions to review it and get back to him.

Apparently, the assistant didn’t get back to Tenet – who remained blissfully ignorant – until he *shock* heard the president’s speech live! Implying that Tenet, who had previously stopped Bush from using the 16 Words on two previous speechmaking occasions, knew without a doubt that the 16 words in the SOTU were wrong.

Okay, let’s accept his story as he presents it. Why didn’t he begin correcting the record RIGHT AWAY? How did he let us go to War KNOWING the primary justification – imminent nuclear threat – was absolutely false?

That’s hardly a mea culpa…that’s much closer to a confession to Deriliction of Duty. Tenet didn’t help himself tonight. In fact, he might just be the Gonzo of Intelligence, after all.

Yeah, but he owned up to it. Sorry, if BushCo is going to throw him under the bus they can do it without my help.

Thanks for the invite. If I am ever forced to go there, I will, otherwise I avoid Ohio at all costs. I have a brother that lives in Columbus and I do not swing through there to see him on my return trips from WVA.
