The bow tie may be gone, but the effects it had cutting off the oxygen supply to his head linger:
[H]e's claiming that bloggers aren't qualified to choose who's the next President. He said, "how can a bunch of pre-pubescent kids living in their mom's basement eating ice-cream sandwiches decide who's the next President"?
From the 2006 Blogads readership survey :
The median political blog reader is a 43 year old man with an annual family income of $80,000. He reads 6 blogs a day for 10 hours a week. 39% have post-graduate degrees. 70% have contributed to a campaign.
These stereotypes persist because people like Tucker Carlson are just too stupid and lazy to check their facts. He just continues to be bad for America.

Zenny! So good to see you back.
Heh. Wonder what Tucker’s DSM-IV diagnosis would be?
As an education layperson, I’d say megalomania at the very least!
I come to FDL through HuffPo because I can keep FDL up that way when I visit other sites. (Always have to start over if I come straight to FDL for some unknown reason.)
Anyway, HuffPo headliner is Rosie O’Donnell. Is that what you would consider today’s most important news?

LOL! Me too.
What use does Tucker have for facts??? Facts are not his friends…
I own a TV, but have not turned it on since, I think, John Dean was on talking about the Libby case. I moved in February and it is on the floor and not even plugged in. I didn’t know TC had abandoned the fetching bowties, but that doesn’t make him any less of an idiot Gooper than he was a year ago. I won’t even watch snips on C&L, I just let Olbermann make fun of these dopes for me.
Him, I might get cable for him. Stephanie Miller would possibly be a dealmaker. We’ll see.
Hey if Tucker were triplets, he’d be the three stooges. But i’m thinkin’ he’s that all in one. Kinda like the old three in one oil. But inssstead of Larry, Curly amd Moe, he’s Foolishly Stupid Idiot. (with my apologies to the other foolish, stupid, and idiotic people of this world).

Fear of a blogged planet.
There is a concerted effort going on in the mainstream media to marginalize and discredit blogs because blogs are proving much of the mainstream media to be compromised and corrupt.
The mainstream media are the new Vaudevillians at the advent of the motion picture industry.
They see their little picnic is ending.

I have never heard Stephanie Miller but I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to next week. Turned my TV on this AM and it was still on MSNBC. What might the president do with his new power to declare martial law?
by James Bovard
How many pipe bombs might it take to end American democracy? Far fewer than it would have taken a year ago.
The Defense Authorization Act of 2006, passed on Sept. 30, empowers President George W. Bush to impose martial law in the event of a terrorist “incident,” if he or other federal officials perceive a shortfall of “public order,” or even in response to antiwar protests that get unruly as a result of government provocations.
The media and most of Capitol Hill ignored or cheered on this grant of nearly boundless power. But now that the president’s arsenal of authority is swollen and consecrated, a few voices of complaint are being heard. Even the New York Times recently condemned the new law for “making martial law easier.”
It only took a few paragraphs in a $500 billion, 591-page bill to raze one of the most important limits on federal power. Congress passed the Insurrection Act in 1807 to severely restrict the president’s ability to deploy the military within the United States. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 tightened these restrictions, imposing a two-year prison sentence on anyone who used the military within the U.S. without the express permission of Congress. But there is a loophole: Posse Comitatus is waived if the president….

dakine01 @ 56
That was Tierney.
This is from Chris Bowers’ analysis.
Gender: 66.1% male, 33.9% female (69.0% male, 31.0% female)
While the gap closed somewhat during 2005, the activist segment of the Democratic political blogosphere is, unfortunately, still something a sausage party. I remain hopeful the gap will continue to shrink as time moves forward, but our ongoing tolerance of sexist language, the male dominated legacy of the technology and political sectors, and other factors continue to contribute this imbalance.
Jane, I remember you posting something ages ago about #s of female/ male readers from a survey. I can’t remember exact numbers, but it was much more evenly balanced than 33/66 %. (Gosh, I wonder why!)
Do you have that data, or remember where to access it?
In a new NBC/WSJ poll
56% of Americans favor a deadline for pulling out of Iraq
37% favor Bush’s no deadline
55% think victory is not possible
49% say the situation has gotten worse in the last 3 months (since the start of the surge)
37% say the situation is unchanged
12% sat the situation has improved

Why that little…I’ve seen him in HIS mother’s basement, eating ice-cream sandwiches, in his pajamas, for chrissake. What an ass-hole!
Must disagree, Jane. Tucker does this not because he is too stupid and lazy to check the facts, but because it suits his purpose to denegrate the blogging community in an attempt to make them (us) irrlevant or decrease our power and influence. This will not work out for him in the long run.

juslin @ 79
And, I suspect, that there is an element of elitism in their view. I have heard both George Will and Brian Williams denigrate bloggers. George Will said something like ‘they think that someone’s interested in their opinion’. Williams said that he has to deal with bloggers with an opinion.

Besides, isn’t Tucker showing his age a bit by focusing his attention on Bloggers? Aren’t the kids he talks about more likely to be over at MySpace and sites like that?

The netroots are also overwhelmingly White. I believe Chris Bowers has commented on this, but I can’t find the cite.
What can we do about this? We need to be more multi-racial & multi-cultural & multi-ethnic.
Someone is bound to think that we can’t be “prejudiced” here in the netroots, because we can’t see anyone’s skin color. Well, too bad, baby, doncha know we talk, or maybe type, different. I don’t know what the formula is, but I’m sure there is one. I think we’ve got maybe a few Hispanics/Latinos, and a few Native Americans (less than 1% each), but I can’t recall hearing any “Black” voices (not that I’d know, anyway.)

there is a difference between “bloggers” and blog readers. I’m a leftie but WTF? Talk about misleading articles.
Where does Tucker get his facts….from where the sun don’t shine.
Who’s Tuckers daddy, he is one of the guy’s who helped run the VOA into the ground. Basically no stations left in the US. Nice job Mr. Carlson.
Check out the Tucker Carlson page @ Wikipedia.org (with photo, and bow-tie) Hilarious! He’s such a “school-boy in short pants” and sucky sweet, to boot! And why not? His step-mother is an heir to the Swanson frozen food fortune. I think we can trust his first-hand knowledge of tongue tingling tasty treats enjoyed in mom’s basement. “Stewart/Carlson/Crossfire” at You Tube is classic. Stewart spanks lil Tucker mercilessly. (Stewart) “what’s odd, is that you (Tucker) are as big a dick on your own show, as on any other.” It seems a logical consummation, of Tucker and that tranny Mann Coulter, to hook up personally, and professionally. Dynamic Duo, done Right.

This is exactly right. Tucker & the other whiners have at least enough savvy to realize that their overpaid, overfed, over-everything’d lifestyles are in danger because people are increasingly turning away from these BS news sources as simply a waste of time.
Look at what obsesses the major news channels including MSNBC & CNN – this missing blonde, that missing kid, this funny animal, that wacky criminal, American Idol, blah blah blah. It’s numbing to see the massive avoidance of the major things going on. It wouldn’t be so bad if they interwove the “human interest” bullshit with the important stories that are affecting everyone (e.g., the massively destructive, orchestrated Bushco scandals), but the latter get very little actual time and attention thanks to morons like Tucker and the network puppeteers who pull their strings.
Tucker’s not toast yet (despite his low ratings) but he’s definitely in the toaster and should be done soon.
“Is Tucker Carlson an idiot or a fool?”
That’s not an “or” question.
HTH.
