The Canton Repository seeing it makes me laugh.
It was my hometown paper growing up and the home of a lot of factories and one of my favorite editorial headlines –”Red dust in the sky means no dust on the factory floor” It was the late wixties but still.

Newtie suggesting now that more guns are needed - and that the Holocaust-survivor professor at VT, if he’d only had a gun, could have prevented many of the other deaths.

And it the fault of “liberalism”.

Coulter in yesterday’s newspaper column suggests that it is VTech’s fault for not supporting a provision allowing concealed weapons on campus. So that is the theme, The Repugs are likely to play over and over again rather than a Mentally Ill dude was able to buy guns. She and other Repugs thing a ‘Locked and Loaded’ campus in better than a “Gun-Free School Zone.” Imagine Frat-Parties, Dorm-life and annual rivalry football games with fully armed and perhaps intoxicated participants. It would be interesting to know how other campuses in Virginia viewed the potential provision.

Lieberman did not seem bad in ‘99. His voting record was excellent, especially compared to Cheyney. I think loosing the VP (and chance at the Pres) drove him round the bend. If ya can’t beat ‘em join em.

STTP in Ohio @ 57

RF@29

Lieberman I’ll give you, but Gore didn’t lose those debates, the MSM just said he did.

Huge difference.

He also won the popular vote nationally and (more importantly) in Florida. This isn’t sour grapes; it’s fact.

The election was stolen in 2000 and 2004.

I agree. Anyone who goes back and reads the actual transcripts of those debates realizes that Bush merely made up his “facts”…which Gore called him on many times.

Just read the part on what Bush was going to do with the SURPLUS…he was going to use half to SAVE Social Security, use 25% for “Special Plans” (does the phrase “Office of Special Plans” ring a bell), and give 25% back to “those hard working Americans” who deserve it! Apparently those kids of the wealthy who deserved zero inheritance taxes because they worked so hard to be the sperm that happened to fertilize that egg. I guess Bush would know all about how difficult it is to be raised a spoiled rich kid that has a Daddy that can get him into Yale and out of Vietnam! Life’s hard!

Read the debates…they are on the CPD website.

http://www.debates.org/pages/his_2000.html

Anyone who thinks that Bush won them must be a member of the 16%.

Wow!! Sorry I’m late to this.

I cannot get behind Gore or Clinton.

I have vivid memories of Congressional hearings and Frank Zappa testifying about freedom of speech and there’s Tipper, prim, tight-assed Tipper in the gallery making sure her hubby tried like hell to stifle free speech.

There’s also the baggage of NAFTA, the evisceration of welfare, the Effective Anti-terrorist Death Penalty Act, the immoral bombings in Yugoslavia, the illegal sanctions in Iraq, etc., etc.

Clinton? A carpetbagger representing my state in the US Senate, but actually looking out for the interests of Entergy of Little Rock which owns and runs Indian Point nuclear power plant which is an accident waiting to happen. There is the vote for the war in Iraq and the fact that she refuses to say she made a mistake (sound like any presidents we know?) and the fact that she refuses to call for an immediate withdrawal of our troops.

Sorry. I think Hillary is going to be dead in the water going into the convention and I believe Gore is going to wait as long as he can until Dems start a serious draft Al movement and then he’ll shuffle in all aw shucks-like and accept what he truly believes is his destiny.

I could be wrong but I don’t see Gore or Clinton winning in 2008. Sure would be nice to see Dubya and his crew doing the perp walk, though.

Good morning all. . . just a comment about computer tests on the NCLB thread: I just retired from the Office of the Atty Genl in Texas. Each new employee and/or volunteer/intern is required to take computer generated tests on pertinent topics (Sexual Harassment laws, Ethics in govt, other topics) after reading on line data - even adults had trouble mastering the computer tests because (as those NCLB tests are described) if a false move was made (clicking on the wrong bubble)the test would implode and special help was needed to restart them. We also frequently had problems with the program which recorded evaluations like “test incomplete” when the test was indeed complete. If adults can’t hack this, how do we expect 3rd graders to do so? Down with NCLB, computer tests, and teach to the test programs! Computer tests are for the convenience of the test evaluator only.

I think your magnolia will survive. Try spraying it with some anti-dog chewing product, like Stop Chew - or something with diluted hot sauce.

PLovering at 136 — I thought I remembered Mary Beth at the top of that heap. Thanks — my brain isn’t as caffeine-deprived as I thought this morning. *g* And I have heard so many versions of the consultant-heavy, inside baseball bickering and infighting about the campaign staff…SO many. We have got to stop hiring the same people who keep losing campaigns. Someone has to break that cycle…
