Hey, from what I’ve read about Gonzo’s lengthy preparations for testifying before Congress, and his stumbling through answers and his relative level of incoherent replies, the White House will probably figure Gonzo’s taking the 5th, and not opening his mouth at all except to invoke the 5th, is preferable to the alternative…that is, more comedy material for the Daily Show.

This subpoena is from Conyers in the House. Next week is the Senate Judiciary committee hearing. These docs will not likely have been analyzed enough to be useful on the 17th. That’s assuming they bother to respond to the subpoena.

letter cited House rule X, to the effect that
gonzo must deliver docs 48 hours prior to
april 17. to the senate.

when he doesn’t, by the morning of the 15th,
leahy should send out HIS subpoena for gonzo’s
person AND documents — sort of dog-pile-on,
in that case. . . in fact, now that i type
it, i bet that is what actually will happen.

It looks like the subpoena applies to _every_ employee of the DoJ, including Monica. Is this true?

I wonder how the documents will be collected from every CD/DVD/Thumb Drive, hard drive, post-it note in the entire DoJ? Will this include the USAs offices and employees?

Does each employee have to sign some statement saying they have produced everything?

Even if they don’t turn over documents for some privileged reason, they can still violate the subpoena by not identifying each privileged document and providing the legal reason. It seems that at the very least we will know who is hiding what, or if things are discovered later, a good case for criminal charges.
