Oh, my god!! Melanie Morgan hearts me!!
I just got an email from Move America Forward directed to Those of Us in the Anti-War Movement:
You've become so despicable in your actions that America is now turning against you. You are failing.
You promised 100,000 marchers for the "March on the Pentagon" but your march was a total bust with only a few thousand protestors turning out to show solidarity with the terrorists, and speaking out against the fight for freedom.
Well, at least it wasn't some completely fraudulent Cluster-Hump of Weasels like your little shindig, you braying fishwife. That one where y'all just made up a number of attendees, claimed it was from the Park Service, and then trumpeted it around in a delusional little daisy chain until us meddling kids brought you crashing back down.
Say guys, I heard some hippies are threatening to desecrate various locations in and around Baghdad. Why don’t the 30,000 of y’all surge on over?
…Hey wait, where did everybody go?
Update: No such Park Service, ‘Parks Service,’ or ‘Parks and Service’ estimate has appeared in any form, apparently because the National Park Service no longer estimates the size of crowds at public events. No publicly available photo on the Web — although please correct us if we’re wrong — shows more than a couple of hundred pro-war demonstrators in any place at any time.
So, I was sitting there contemplating where I read something like this before. Oh, right!
This is perhaps the best-known leaflet of the period. It is shown in several ww2 books. The Luftwaffe dropped dropped this leaflet over The Hague on the 10th of Mai 1940.
The Dutch text has several very bad mistakes (some German words are mixed with Dutch). It is said that this leaflet – used to intimidate Dutch civilians – had virtually no effect on the target. During the time of its use there were heavy fights going on around The Hague. On the roads between The Hague and Rotterdam, many Luftwaffe airplanes had to crash land.
In short, the text on this one sided leaflet reads:"Strong German troops surrounded the city.
All resistance is of no more use.
Germany is not fighting your country, but it fights England.
Only forced to, during this battle, the German army had to invade your country.
The German army protects life and property of every peace loving citizen.
But German troops will punish any violence by the civilians with Death.
Every citizen has to go on with his normal doings. In that way he is serving the interest of his own people."
But then I looked a little closer at the email and realized that it wasn't just some generic spam that got sent to everyone at FDL, I saw that it has my first and last name in the TO: line, David Ferguson. And I thought, like, oh my god! Melanie Morgan thinks that I'm, like, a MAJOR PLAYER in the ANTI-WAR movement? What a compliment! That means I am having an effect. They know who I am!
Excellent. That means Melanoma Miscarriage has probably even read things I've said about her.
Uh.
Mah.
Gawd.
You like me! You really, really like me!
Awwwwwww. I accept this award on behalf of…me.
Sigh.
Gosh, I had a bunch of people to thank, but now my mind has gone completely blank up here. Uh, well. Just, thank you.
You know who you are.
Good night!
UPDATE: Thank god Gavin from Sadly, No! was there with his camera.

This is the same Melanie Morgan of Spocko’s brain fame, right? If so, I congratulate you on making the big time of right wing hate objects.

OT, but I noticed that FDL/Jane (Peace and Blessing Be Upon Her) got into the “finalist” list of awards given out by the magazine “The Week” under their category “Bloggers of the Year”. Josh at Wonkette was tied for first with Michael Totten. The Week is a pretty good rag, but I’m disappointed they went with Wonkette since it’s so lightweight, but you cant win everything. dayamit, punaise, I now have a mental picture stuck in my head of a 60′ flying trex – i am not even gonna try to estimate the size of that wimple.
I jumped on Nancy Pelosi here yesterday (Sunday) for her Knesset statements about Iran. And I stand by that. But something’s going on on this Middle East trip, which includes Republican congressmen Frank Wolf, Joe Pitts and Robert Aderholt.
The continuing putdowns by the wurlitzer, including Snow’s stand-in (do we have a nickname for Dana Perino yet?), portraying Pelosi’s trip as one to Syria, when she’s gone to Lebanon and Israel too, is fairly typical wurlitzer stuff. But she spent a lot of time in Lebanon on Monday while the EU President and German Chancellor Angela Merkel was there too. The Brits are backing off of their Blair talking points on their naval prisoners too.
Something’s up. Combined with the resignations of ALL of Bush’s top Iraq advisors this week, I’m thinking there’s a quiet revolution going on in our national leadership unlike any we’ve seen. Or has been hidden from us, for that matter. My hunch is that a lot of people are putting their balls on the line to stop the scheduled Iran air strikes.
newspaperbrat—hey. Am trying to get the following to the morning legal beagles, to answer the lhp question of what could be so important to have weekly meetings:
Memo to lhp et al —
What if they meet weekly to discuss the progress of every federal case of interest. To review communication intercepts of their targets. To develop short term plans for interference and pressure. To create new target lists. To review lists of new stepford candidates to take positions. It’s a guess but wouldn’t all of that take a weekly high level meeting?
Geez, a twit two-fer. :)

that was part of the plan, no doubt. part of my April 20 scenario was that the Iranians would let their guard down if we didn’t attack during that maximum window, but I’m hoping there’s a quiet military resistance and alternative leadership building similar to what we’re observing more and more in the civil service and political sectors re the Iran attacks.

Oh, OK, once in a while, let’s have at ‘em!
But it’s starting to feel, sometimes, as if we are turning into them, attitude-wise. I can barely keep up with the important stuff. I certainly can’t get interested in second-level-or-under right-wing bloggers who write stupid stuff. Actually, I take that pretty much for granted.

Email the Joint Chiefs of Staff –
No Iran War.
War is the continuation of politics by other means.
The US military command itself is divided over Bush’s Iran War.
Rumsfeld – and then Gates – have split Iran War planning off from the usual planners and into a group of planners under – you guessed it – Perfect Peter Pace and the Joint Chiefs.
Sy Hersh tells us the senior staff are divided and many will resign if Bush orders war. (Bush’s civilian Iran advisers recently resigned.)
As ET observes, resistance grows.
War is the continuation of politics by other means.
Our military officers:
1) Have email
2) Swore a sacred Oath to defend the Constitution
3) Must refuse illegal orders.
4) Know they have lost public trust and support for the war
The Joint Chiefs do understand public support (and war crimes).
Tell the Joint Chiefs we support the Republic and the Constitution.
Ed*ard Teller @ 52
And we can go beyond the Chiefs! We can find emails for all manner of Pentagon planners and planning groups – all we have to do is look. And be alert for Firepups who can point us to more public emils for General Staff and senior planners.

Waving to you too Eureka Springs!
I’m oh so happy to report I’ve got some fresh and exciting news but it may pale compared to TRex cause the wider story hasn’t broken yet.
There is an assistant U.S. attorney in northern CAL that has actually shown keen interest in the circumstances of a former county election official who was convicted of all sorts of crimes, includidng serious felonies but didn’t serve a day in jail and received a sweetheart probation period.
My reliable source told me the whistle-blower thought better of tipping state A.G. Jerry Brown since it could lead to some discomfort for the Governator and the Wblower did not want to invite any further delay that may slow a proper investigation.
Suffice it to say there are a lot of thrilled coastal enviromentalists doing the snoopy dance between Santa Barbara and San Francisco tonight, including this old newsbrat.
Wish I had more on the story but stay tuned for updates as it further unfolds.
I’ve been thinking about Fitz all evening and the fired US Attorney in San Diego and how pissed off they and their professional peers must be at Gonzales for gaming and firing straight shooters to cover their sorry assed political crimes and cronies at Justice and the White House.

I’m feeling VERY uneasy over the possibility of President Bush bombing Iran. I feel it could easily destabilize the Middle East and then by extension our precious world. I’m requesting you do what you can to advise and persuade the President to not go in this direction. Our country is already suffering from the reputation it has acquited for being a terrorist state and for its torture of prisoners who are imprisoned indefinitely without being charged. We have broken our military and bankrupted our country. Please do what you can to not escalate the problem. Please ratchet waaaay back any plans to invade Iran. I look forward to your response to this urgent problem. Thank you.

Wish I knew the answer but I certainly agree with your “guess” that weekly high level meetings seem obviously de rigor. As I postulated in a comment I just posted we seem to blessed here in CA with some mighty pissed off federal prosecutors. Just imagine the kind of cleaning up required in San Diego following the unconscienable firing of that dedicated US Attorney and it has been reported the clean up has strained the workload of her peers here in state.

This bogus “Move America Forward” group is nothing more than a front for a Republican Swiftboating, Slime-slinging PR Firm, Russo, Marsh & Rogers.
The firm had a contract with Kurdistan, and ran “Kurdistan, The Other Iraq” campaign; and others: Painting Nancy Pelosi as a “Domestic Enemy”; a campaign to stop cinemas from showing “Farenheit 9/11″; the “You Don’t Speak for Me, Cindy Sheehan” campaign and the feeble “Radio Truth Tour” of Iraq (remember, how the LIBERAL MEDIA SIMPLY REFUSES TO AIR THE “GOOD NEWS” from the War?.
It’s a business for them… Continuing the war for the War Profiteers.
This is interesting – just got off the phone with my source on the whistleblower (and happily he was still up) and learned his whistlblower friend approached another in state CA based Federal Prosecutor’s office almost a month ago by telephone and the attorney he originally spoke with (and provided the name and contact info for his colleague) cautioned the complainant to “be patient” for they were all working overtime and throughout the state the SF and LA offices were especially strained and court cases were stacked up due to a recent “freeze” on replacing staff. Further he was told by this initial contact that vacations had been postponed indefintely for all special prosecutors until the critical case load on investigators and prosecutors could be met. Clearly among his other failures Gonzales’ Justice Department is in chaos and creating havoc for the west coast offices of U.S. Attorneys with the freeze on new hires. My friend is going to try to get a time line from the whistle blower in hope his notes include the date the freeze was ordered by Justice. It appears it may have coincided with the firing of the US Attorney in San Diego – what a surprise. Not!
I think another burning question for Marcy, Redd and/or Glenn would be if this may constitute “obstruction of justice” by the AG’s office but I admit this could just be wishful thinking on my part. Nor do I have a clue about such heady Federal protocols. It may account for Gonzales still in office against all odds given his obvious lies and cover from the WH. Just more smokescreens while the sinking ship of State cooks up a disastrous third war front in Iran? God,I hope not. I would not put anything this criminal cartel could be cooking up to further distract off the table including a new bogus front on their war on terror.
Time to got to bed but will attempt a google effort to see if any further clues may be available on west coast US Attorney offices.
Who am I kidding – just myself -my eyes are shot and I’m giving up this ghost and heading for bed but I hope east coast early birds might want to google a bit further for other signs of Gonzales led hiring freezes of US Attorney manpower in recent weeks.
Nite all.

Nope, completely unaware of that incident. I was without internet access for a couple of months there (router problems from hell).
Spocko started writing to the sponsors of the station from which Melanie and her cohorts spewed forth some pretty hateful stuff. He asked them, politely, if they wanted their brand identified with such hate speech. And it worked. Sponsors started pulling their spots. It’s interesting that the station is owned by ABC/Disney.

Oh, I remember now.
Her email to TREX shows that she’s as delusional as the rest of the wingnutted idiots.
It also shows that she’s in deep, deep denial. Her assessments about the American public and its thoughts about Iraq were about 180 degrees from the real situation.

TRex,
I absolutely love your clever, clever writing, but I ask you not to refer to Melanie Morgan as “Melanoma Miscarriage.” This is not funny repartee. Each word is a heavy burden to someone with that experience. Instead, apply your great wit to come up with something mellifluous and arch, rather than wince-inducing.
Thanks,

Congrats, T!
I recieved one of those emails from Melanie Morgan also!
I’m not sure how I made her team, other than writing a once-weekly derivative column for Daily Kos (Cheers and Jeers MONDAY) and posting a few approving comments in Spocko’s general direction (plus sending $ through Pay Pal). Needless to say it was quite a shock to see it this morning.
Andy
Hi folks I know it’s late/early to be posting here, but I case someone wanders by.
Regarding Melanie Morgan’s letter, as I like to say, Fascinating. As someone said above, yes, this is surely a production of Move America Forward’s PR Firm, Russo, Marsh & Rogers.
And as far as they are concerned I’m sure they will be high-fiving each other. “It worked! The lefties wrote about us! Woot!”
The thought of getting back up to address these people exhausts me. Especially since they are all highly paid and I’m not. None of the big 8 peace firms are paying me (unlike the people at KSFO or MAF’s PR Firm, Russo, Marsh & Rogers.)
I was so grateful for people’s donations but battling a multi-billion dollar noise machine (Disney) and several highly paid PR people isn’t economically feasible for me right now. ;-(
