Well, I missed all of the morning hearing, but this live blogging thang caught me up QUICK!!!

Larue here, Sacto CC, first time with FDL, and I’ve been ALL over yer blog for a few days now and love it!!

Big Gilley (FTFY and get well) and Driftglass fan, new to Atrios, too . . . good to see some names in here I recognize from other blogs. Good names, sound minds, and informed opinions, so I’ll thank all in advance just for being yer badassselves . . .

Lots of highlights, already described . . . sounds like the AG is toast, Sampson is doing his OWN CYA, and they are all Rove Mini Me’s and coached by world class handler’s . . . . .

Still, seems like there’s plenty to move forward on, and I won’t yet rule out before year’s end (before August) that impeachment issues won’t come forefront, Cheney takes illness leave, and Shrub is walked off the set into the Crawford sunset by his own Party Apartchiks all the while ’splainin to Boy King how he’s just RUINT the GOP for a decade or more (they don’t care about the planet or people, just the Party).

And that will leave . . . . Madame AIPAC Queen Speak to drop the dime on Iran!!! At which point, my wife and I gather our meager resources into our meager transportation, make a run for the border, and go find her Nova Scotian distant cousins cuz they got good beer, fish and GREAT music.

Having been a part of SE Asia as a boy child in the 50’s/60’s, and growing up to LOVE hating MCCarthy and NIXON!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!! NIXON!!!!! (I miss HST) I never dreamt that I’d see worse challenges to our country, it’s founding charters, our freedoms, and those of the rest of the planet’s than what Nixon prooffered . . then Reagan with HIS policy’s. But The Boy King, NeoCons, The MIC and corp ameriKa are worse than any sci-fi nightmare HP Lovecraft or Orwell ever penned. Us boomers, living two of history’s GREATEST tipping points in our lifetimes, who woulda thunk!!

Exciting times . . . . so pass the popcorn, add more butter and salt who CARES about BP at this point it’s already maxed, and let’s pop that 12 year Tuallamore Dew off of granma’s pantry shelg, make some good espresso laced with Bailey’s and watch the movie!!

OK!! BACK LIVE at 11:39 Left Coast!!! KICK BOY KING ASS!

Why didn’t Kennedy ask him who was at the Wed meetings - both the official and unofficial “off to the side USA meeting? If he claims he can’t remember, start naming people one by one. Were you there? Yes. OK. Was Miers there? Ok that makes two of you…etc. If he can remember everyone except Rove, then he should be asked - why can you remember clearly all who were there, but when I ask about Rove you say ” I can’t recall”?

I think they’re letting him off too easy on this senility defense.

Kyle Sampson back - to face Sen. Kyle (no, really), then Kennedy this afternoon.

Becoming more apparent that before coming to school today, Sampson should have checked in that long-forgotten shopping bag under his desk, for all those “poorly maintained” files he might-a, used-ta, could-a had before the dawg ate em.

HAH. Leahy injects a question about just when it was Sampson left the Justice Dept. staff. Of course he got an “uh” in response, and had to prod to obtain an answer.

Meanwhile, C-Span, bless-em, has had his employment specs posted all day, “Chief of Staff for Atty Gen. Alberto Gonzales 2005-2007,” if my memory serves correctly.

At approx. 2:17p.m., EST, Leahy suspended the committee session. He made it very clear, in doing so, that he was NOT adjourning the hearing, just suspending. And he stated emphatically that this was being done because of a Republican objection to holding the hearings while the full Senate session now in progress. Made it clear, he plans to gavel the committee back into session after the full Senate adjourns.

So, currently, C-Span 3 is replaying tape of Sampson’s opening statement from this morning.

According to Sampson the performance and termination of the fired attorneys was reviewed by people that had tried ONE criminal case and another that graduated from law school in 1999. Things like this is what can cause violence in the work place. This is just another example of the Administration putting young, inexperience, unquestioning go-fors in important jobs. Same thing they did Iraq. Absolutely pathetic.

Bullseye, thankyou.

What’s this??? “Republicans have objected, under the Rules of the Senate,” to this hearing?

So they’re going into recess?

Hatch is at the side yapping. Wonder what he’s saying.

Per comment at TPM, Feinstein asked if Sampson was aware of a notice on Lam subpoena. Sampson answered he not recall seeing notice. Thus Feinstein’s question never answered.

So, how does the chief of staff to AG not know who Dusty Foggo is (foggily, from newpaper reports) or Brent Wilkes and I, a restaurant owner in California know all about them. And he is in charge of eliminating Federal prosecutors. ‘Splain that, please.
