I had no idea that “Renaissance Literature,” was appropriate preparation for the GSA?

Let’s not be too hasty. Couldn’t one assume that Renaissance lit. would be treasured for its elaborate packaging & presentation alone, irrespective of content.
Plus the fact that it was dreadfully tedious bordering on impossible to obtain exact verified copies. No?

I don’t think you can assume by a photo if someone is lying about their race. We have a lot of mixed race people in this country. Looking at someone like Soledad O’Brien, you might not realize that she is also of African descent.

A lot of people consider themselves to be ________-American when they are not 100% descendents of people from that country/region.

Implying that she’s faking an African heritage via tanning salon is a bit unseemly, IMO.

You have GOT to be kidding. They are outrageously expensive and the overhead of maintaining the suckers is ridiculous. (Sorry about that, Sun. *LOVED* what you’ve done with Java)
A Sun could easily be replaced by inexpensive Linux servers for a fraction of the cost.

Sun makes inexpensive Linux boxes. The SunFire range isn’t only competitive on bang for the buck, but bang for the watt as well; and Intel-based, so they also run Windows. Have a look at Thumper, or the X4600, or Blackbox.

HP makes some nice boxes.

What – Itanic? HP has also sunk PA-RISC and Alpha, and MIPS died on its own. All they have left is x64. The top-of-the-line ProLiant ML570 G4 is a 2-dual core box: The Sun Fire X4600 comes with 8 cores and maxes at 16.

OK, I’ll go back to my Kool-aid now. But I work for Sun because the Kool-aid is some of the best going.

Sun’s solaris operating system is not (or at least was not) compliant with Government computer security requirements.

This is not true. Trusted Solaris (based on Solaris 8) is widely used in government agencies. Google will tell you so. While Trusted Solaris is being discontinued, its security components are being decoupled so that they can run on Solaris 10, on any hardware Solaris runs on. But Trusted Solaris 8 is certified at a level equivalent to Orange Book B1 (LSPP at EAL4), and was the first OS to be so.

Waxman’s committee is a well-oiled machine. Everybody has their topic. I would say we should identify the power forward, shooting guard, etc., but I’d rather see emptywheel break it down from the rugby perspective.
