I am having the same problem! Its driving me crazy. I get it here, though not so much today. I also get it at Eschaton, Americablog, and The Huffington Post.

I’m sure dealing with a dial up connection doesn’t help. The sites will load, give me just enough time to start reading, then it kicks me into a google search mode. I thought it might have been spyware or a virus. It would be much appreciated if someone could fix it.

One point about the USA firings and The Gap (one made by Margaret Chiara). The gaps starts, I believe, when it becomes crystal clear that Webb won VA, and the Dems won the Senate. There’s likely a whole discussion about how and whether to use the PATRIOT provision to replace these people–and what they’re going to do without Senate approval. They had already faced this with Griffin, so they were probably strategizing that during the gap.

Rayne @163 – I think it is much simpler. The plan was already all spelled out by the 15th. The only thing DOJ is required to produce are emails relating to the plan and those fired, not ALL dept emails.

So on the 15th, the biggie issue comes up – required Presidential authorization. Sampson commits a HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake, phrasing that question in an email, specifically mentioning the President.

I’d bet dollars to donuts that there was a phone call or face to face from someone blistering him and admonishing everyone involved that no one mentions the President in writing.

I’d also say that Rove became more active in the loop then. Rove also isn’t “doing” emails, particularly after he got burned by the Cooper email and after he saw what happened with Abramoff emails.

So during that time frame, the only real issue seemed authorization and the only discussions that people had were probably done under strict guidelines of nothing in writing.

It’s really the heart of things, isn’t it?

Remember the President saying that there would be an investigation re: Plame, he’d go after the leakers, etc. – lies. Now, what about the President and spokespersons saying he knew nothing about any of this?

Lies and cover up or Kyle/Alberto/Karl run amok, usurping to themselves the Presidential power to remove?
