Personally, I don’t care whether Lindsey is gay, but since the GOP loves bragging about its “values” and wants to make gays 2nd class citizens (and worse) and screams to the rafters about Democrats’ sex lives (after all, his holiness Lindsey was one of the House lawyers on the impeachment case), he’s fair game. All GOP closet cases are fair game, and it’s their own damn fault.

[delurk]
As a bisexual, married (to a woman) male living in San Francisco, I find much to comment about in this thread, but the issue that most sticks in my mind is where someone gets the idea that they can question what is appropriate for someone to talk about on their own blog in the first place. Seriously, where does that come from? To me, it’s kind of like walking into someone else’s house and telling them they painted the walls the wrong color. It’s a sense of propriety that often gets my goat!

That said, I’m glad to see the relevance of sexuality to politics, and vice versa, being discussed here. Thanks to you all!

I leave you with this superior version of YMCA:

I am ever so glad I returned to this thread after waking this (afternoon)! Falsafa and others have really opened up and shared parts of themselves and it is fascinating to read. Thank you all, and especially PACHACUTEC for allowing this conversation to happen.

so I’m here kinda late to the party, why do you guys suppose Lindsey didn’t marry? what kind of man doesn’t marry if he isn’t gay. Couldn’t he just be an oldman spinster?:>)

Here’s one reason even hetero folks in the burbs, like me, should actually care about these issues. One of your kids could be gay. He/she might already be gay and not even know it. And you’d probably be the last to know.

Don’t you care about what bullshit your kids and/or their friends might have to put up with just to get by in the world?

All that being said, I grew up in a pretty gay-friendly household where same-sex couples were regular visitors. And in high school, I had many gay friends.

So as a straight dad from the burbs, maybe that’s why my gaydar is pretty darn good. Obviously, it isn’t much use to me personally, but it does give me the opportunity to let slip subtle things that tell them it’s OK to be themselves around me.

Oddly I have a blind spot in my gaydar when someone is hitting on me (hasn’t happened in a long time). I guess it’s because the chance that something might come of such behavior blinds me to the situation itself.

Political site. Gee, how many times have folks talked about music, cooking(lots of recipes), religion and belief, silly snarking, and other topics. It can’t be all politics all the time. We need breaks from that to regain and refresh our humanity.

ding-ding-ding…we have a winner!

DefJef in #19 produced even more of the topic that he thought inappropriate. We do have to be at least somewhat careful of what we post, because of the responses that it may produce. We all should understand that patience, empathy, sympathy, compassion and pathos are not necessarily inappropriate responses to virtually any post at FDL.

If I can tolerate the posts that refer to Country Music, I expect everyone else to be tolerant of topics that are not at the top of their favorites list. Please, pretty please, no response to this last paragraph!
