Aides to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Congressman John Conyers, D-Mich., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said they were engaged in discussions Tuesday about the possibility of holding immediate hearings and subpoenaing Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald to provide details of his nearly four-year-old investigation, and the evidence he obtained regarding the role Vice President Dick Cheney and other White House officials played in the leak of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson. The aides requested anonymity because they were not yet permitted to discuss Congress’s course of action in the matter publicly.

thanx for that bob – a very nice antidote to all the posts citing lawrence o’donnell stating congress wouldn’t pursue this on countdown tonite. i have great respect for his opinions, so it was chilling when i heard him say it.

soon after i wrote my congressman – turns out he’s (hinchey) the one pushing hardest for it. yes!

now i can go to bed feeling the same lightness of heart i felt last night after the verdict.

She claimed that Valerie Plame had made the decision to send her husband to Niger the day before the VP told Libby to find out, so therefore so therefore the Dems can’t say that the query originated from his office.

This isn’t even relevant. Libby obstructed justice by lying. Even if Valerie ordered the trip against the wishes of the CIA, it still wouldn’t matter! It’s just an attempt at misdirection.

The Wingbats ignore the fact that Cheney already had the DIA’s analysis of the CIA Report one week before Cheney told his CIA briefer what the CIA was doing to look more into the matter! This suggests that Cheney may have already contacted Tenet or McLaughlin and asked for original information (raw data rather than analysis).

At the same time the Pentagon and the State Department appear to have been pressured to act…all within the same week. This hardly seems to be spontaneous! Even though nothing of note relating to factual material emerged that week. The only “trigger” was the release of the CIA report and the DIA’ analysis of it. Cheney gets it in early February (BEFORE Plame’s write up of her husbands credentials that was requested by her boss) = then all hell breaks lose with cables to the US Embassy in Niger from the State Dept. and the sending of 4-star General Carlton Fulford…and the CIA sending Wilson.
