Former Amb. Joe Wilson will be appearing this evening on MSNBC on Keith Olbermann's show, beginning at 8:00 pm ET. And then will be on Larry King Live on CNN, beginning at 9:00 pm ET. No doubt, the Libby trial and the investigation of the leak of Valerie Plame Wilson's name will come up, along with teh pending civil suit that the Wilsons have filed against Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Richard Armitage, and a number of other unnamed defendants will come up as well.
There will be lots to discuss, and we wanted to give everyone the space needed to discuss it.

Joe! Valerie!
Truth, justice and the American way!
FDL rocks!
FITZMAS!!!
The whole Countdown show is on Libby. One for the record books.
Oh, and…
FITZ!!!
Joe Wilson on Countdown now!
Amb. Wilson currently on MSNBC with Olbermann…
Merry Fitzmas!
Here is the man himself. Public Service. This Constitution has been defended. Tell, it, Joe.
You go, Joe!
MERRY FITZMAS
Sheesh … he knows how to nail it! What a hero!
Hi EW, Jane and Eg! (waving)
Tried to call you EW, but you did not pick up phone.
Joining you in a toast from a diatance
What a beautiful Picture, thanks Christy
Cheese and rice, it sucks to be on the left coast at times like this.
I don’t have cable :-(
ding
Fitz looks so much taller than the rest of the team. A giant indeed.
Woodhall @ 16 – Crooks & Liars will have it up I’m sure.
Joe Wilson framing the Libby verdict in all the right ways.
Joe Wilson – a patriot, a brave man, a good guy.
Mr. K8 and I are so happy that we had the chance to meet him. It feels so wonderful to see this little bit of justice done for his sake and for Valerie’s sake.
He’s so modest that he puts his and his wife’s aggravation in contrast, as a small thing when contrasted with the suffering of our servicemen and -women.
What a guy!
DING!
To the Wilsons!
litigatormom says “Tweety making a special comment inspired by National Review. WH sold this war based on false information. Why did cheney let bush “testify” to congress about uranium. The sound you hear is the sound of me falling to the floor from shock….”
I Tweety brings this up in a segment everyday from now until Congress announces
1. investigation into Cheney’s involvment or
2. investigation into Bush admin claims for war authorization
I will forgive Tweety for all his other faults.
Typo?
“with teh(?) pending civil suit”
They do look elegant, don’t they?
I have no TV, so I follow along here. ;-)
Merry Fitzmas everyone!
The following quote from Kevin Drum from earlier today says all that you need to know about the FDL coverage – “CNN and Jane Hamsher both report that a verdict in the Libby trial is coming soon.”
Congratulations to you all.
John
Hey gang. I’m at Plame House watching Olbermann with Marcy, egregious, Stoller and some other readers. Jane had toleave town already but we have beer and pizza, thanks to egregious.
Woo hoo!
I salute the Wilsons.
I was held hostage all day just finally catching up.
EPU’ed in the last thread
I was meaning to do this earlier but I just looked at the reaction to the verdict at the Libby Legal Defense Fund site:
Seems like there is no cheer in Mudville tonight. The mighty Scooter has struck out.
Woodhall Hollow,
I have CPSAN but no MSNBC, CNN, or FOXNEWS.
Firepups have been posted the best of Libby Verdict coverage here though and its GOOD reading.
Quoting from another Blog, “rumor has it that a star was placed on the wall at CIA headquarters”…
I just wanted to know if it is possible a life was lost because of the leak? If so, I would think those responsible are guilty of murder. But I know of whom and what government I am speaking of, and it would just be swept under the big Bush rug!
Pach.
Wish I was there with you all. Celebrate heartily. You have earned it.
OUCH! Mods? The phone number?
Any little fishes on the pizza pie?
Have a great time and enjoy this evening– we are with you, um, virtually.
I need to order me some pizza and beer while I wait for the last episode of Frontline’s News War to come on. Last week’s episode was fabulous and made up for my dissapointment in the first 2.
EW – I’m really hope that phone number is Libby’s cell phone.
emptywheel #31,
Personally, I liked the name emptywheel but if you prefer chez Pach, OK.
To the denizens of Plame House. I’m so glad I made a small contribution. And to steelthing while I’m thinking about it.
*ding*
Hagel talking about Impeachment over at Think Progress!!!
OT but … Pach, nice post you put up at Gillie’s News Blog.
http://www.thenewsblog.net/200…..-bono.html
Hello
My phone died
I’m still a patriot.
Let’s see Bush– or let’s have him admit it!!
Thanks FDL and EW for everything you have done for our country. Oh, and hugs
It’s beginning to look a look a lot like Fitzmas…
Pachacutec says “Hey gang. I’m at Plame House watching Olbermann with Marcy, egregious, Stoller and some other readers. Jane had toleave town already but we have beer and pizza, thanks to egregious. Woo hoo!”
Thanks Pach for keeping us in the loop on the whereabouts of Team FireDogLake …it’s always nice to be able to put a
face to a name,a place to a Plame,a place for the fame, (oh never mind) Have Fun!ROTFLMAO!
MARCIE!
Tequila time! Here’s to youse guys!
Count one. GUILTY!
Another salute to the Wilsons!
And to the entire FDL crew. We will be a better country for all the efforts seen here in the last year and a half.
Emptywheel, you’re an American Hero to me.
In other news: Editor Explains Why Paper Dropped Coulter Column
~snip~
“Lancaster County residents of whatever political view — conservative, moderate, or liberal — deserve intelligent discussion of issues. Ann Coulter no longer provides that.”
New Era Editor Ernie Schreiber expanded on those comments when reached early this afternoon. He told E&P that Coulter “was hurting our credibility. Our community is largely conservative and Republican. They expect insightful discussion of issues. Ann Coulter wasn’t giving us that. We have lots of conservative columnists who do — Cal Thomas, Jonah Goldberg, Robert Novak, Michelle Malkin, among others.”~~~
my bold
Brian@32 – There was talk of such a thing, but of course we’ll never know for sure. That’s why they put stars there and not names. The thought that the possibility even exists puts a lump in my throat.
Joe Wilson was terrific on Countdown. One quibble: when asked about the fact the original crime was prosecuted, he could have used that brilliant point from Fitzgerald–that by lying and obstructing justice, Libby threw sand in the face of the umpire.
Libby’s actions, confirmed unanmously today by a jury, prevented us from getting to the real crime…
I wish some of these folks would mention Marcy’s book.
My phone is less happy than it was.
Present at the creation of a new media paradigm, etc.
Hey, FDL, you rock so hard!
Bristol-Meyes Squibb’s new product line.
Treason
I guess that bottle of wine WAS a big one!
Let yer hair down honey!
YA DONE GOOD.
Schuster: “upper end” of sentencing from Walton likely, since Scooter was a public official.
Schuster: Prosecutors believe Scooter have info about conversations with the VP.
Doesn’t Walton have a reputation for giveing out tough sentences?
Just watched Olbermann and Ambassador Wilson. And I have to admit, that in the relief and euphoria of the guilty verdicts today, I allowed myself to forget what was behind it all. For Valerie Plame, for her service to our country which was cancelled out for political gain, I am truly sorry.
EW
Please send email w/ #
I do not have Pach’s number with me.
I don’t understand how they interpret the possible 25 years for the four counts to only be anywhere between 1 1/2 to 4 years. Anyone understand the sentencing guidelines here?
LoneStarLiberal @ 53 ” Joe Wilson was terrific on Countdown. One quibble: when asked about the fact the original crime was prosecuted, he could have used that brilliant point from Fitzgerald–that by lying and obstructing justice, Libby threw sand in the face of the umpire.”
Thanks LoneStarLiberal. Some of us w/o MSNBC have been relying on firepups like you for the lowdown. Thank you and keep it coming… or as they say in Crawford, git ‘er done. he he he or as they used to say in Crawford git ‘er done.
Schuster: Prosecutors believe Scooter have info about conversations with the VP.
Wow wow wee wah!
The Libby site also has a copy of an editorial from the NRO (National Review Online) which begins:
And it ends (2nd to last sentence)
Yeah, that’s the ticket. Criticize the guy you want the pardon from.
Do you smell that? That’s meltdown, son! Nothing else in the world smells like that! I love the smell of meltdown in the morning.
http://www.scooterlibby.com/news/Read.aspx?ID=275
If the Libby Legal Defense Fund were so interested in Scooter’s defense, why aren’t they going after for Shooter? The usual tactic of “defense” funds is to try to direct attention to the real culprits as they perceive them. I find the absence of this effort strange at LLDF.
LHP- email me at tenureransom at Hotmail dot com
http://www.commondreams.org/views07/0306-38.htm
I thought Joe Wilson did an excellent job linking the carelessness and callousness of the leak of Valerie’s identity to the way troops have been treated in this war. The sense that BushCo has no consideration for anyone rang very true — and may reach a wider audience as we learn about how troops and veterans are treated after their injuries.
LHP- …for some info you are seeking
has anyone been able to get some kind of commitment from anyone in one of the houses that they WILL get the information the Fitz has?
RevDeb >
Maybe itz wishful thinking on their part
If I remember correctly the sentencing guidelines in use recently have been ruled illegal according to a recent SCOTUS decision
Throw da book at em anyway !
“…This is not a game.” – Lorie Van Auken (2001.09.11 widow)
If Libby’s conviction stands, he’ll be disbarred and lose his livlihood. He was a VERY successful lawyer before Cheney recruited him.
I feel sorry for him. No I don’t.
I feel sorry for the dead and crippled american soldiers and for the Iraqi civilians who gave their lives without a vote.
‘Git ‘er done’ – a phrase from another conservative mean-spirited faux Southerner…
Eugene Robinson on Tweety was funny, he said “that editorial has been in the can for quite a while”!
Hey, pups, couldn’t Conyers [or some other Congress critter] now hold hearings to “investigate” the leak of Valerie’s CIA identity [since apparently Fitz isn’t going there]?
Then the committee could subpoena Libby [et al]and ask about all those nasty little facts that came out @ the trial, namely that Cheney “leaked” Plame’s identity to Libby and told him to go use/leak it to “discredit” Wilson/push back on Wilson’s criticism.
Comments?
PS – Marcy, just sent you a bcc of my letter to Tweety re his confusion over his oft-repeated “where’s the report of Wilson’s trip.” Gave him page numbers of your book. Nimrod.
Hugh — I’d missed that. In their anger about the verdict, they may piss off the BoyKing, from whom ALL pardons flow.
Sigh.
In an attempt to do a nice thing ex-Mr. Prop is trying to install an new wireless router that can handle wider bandwidth so I will have better toobz.
The problem is the router was delivered today and it is not cooperating, so I keep getting kicked off the toobz.
Of allthe nights to have intrnet troubles!
Suds & 68 – it may be labelled as Libby Defense Fund but it has ALWAYS been the Cheney Defense Fund.
Just put my peanut down. What a day. I have a headache. As soon as it subsides, I’m going to have drink #2.
Do you think the prosecution team is completly drunk out of their minds by now? Not that it’s right per se, but so understandable
Fukin A right!
OfT: Christy, I saw a blue pearl CR-V today and thought of you — it was dreamy!
The verdict has just blown every thing else off the screen today, but there was some good stuff in the hearings with the US attorneys today, names named.
About all the repugs have to come back with is the fact that none of them reported the calls from the senator or congresswoman as the rules required. This will be the point of attack for them.
Pach, i don’t want you to disclose the Plame House location (we have that under constant satellite surveillance, and we have teh emptywheel phone chip) but don’t you think the neighbors should be able to watch their own tvs? And we’re most concerned about the sound “leakage.”
Were you at all instructed to party so loud?
Someone around here put up a post awhile back about what happens when a NOC is outed – all the ramififications and risk and consequences. I’d love to read it again, but my memory ain’t what it once was…
The Ambassador seems always to come back to that point, in every interview. I’ll bet Valerie has been moody these last few years, with secret troubles she cannot talk about. He can only intuit what she knows, the friends and colleagues she has lost to this thing…
I hope they can negotiate a decent compromise from the CIA, so she can write her book.
Excellent point Neill
A couple of random thoughts…
If Fitz is true and his work is done
Half a loaf is better than none
Marcy, you rock.
Litigatormom rocks too. I feel like the kid in “My Cousin Vinnie” who ditches his lawyer and shouts, “I want her!”
(of course, I don’t need a lawyer right now… but if I did…)
so according to the radio, libby is only facing a coupla years
there is no need for any kind of pardon if that’s true
LHP – Git thee to a Starbucks!!
Ah, KO just referred to the “sand throwing.”
Christy! Pach! Marcie! Dogs!
Rockn’ROLL!
Roll away the STONE!
Watched MSNBC & FOX tonight….got to say that MSNBC is overlooking the role of the news in all this…. why did Scooter lie? He had excellent reason to believe that news people would NEVER contradict ANYTHING he said under oath! It’s interesting that they avoid that one.
JeffreyW – The US Attorney story will be back in the news probably with more attention due to this conviction.
LHP @ 80 – Gosh darn IT folks!!!!
March 6th 2007
A great day that will go down in infamy. I don’t think anyone else has down this so I am going to venture forward from my lurker den and proclaim the the 6th of March will forever be known and celebrated as St. Fitz Day!!! A holiday for all true believers that are seeking truth & justice. This could be bigger than Mardi Gras if promoted right.
Strolling slowly back to my den.
This is a great day for firedoglake.
Remember the early days, when everyone was fretting about how few woman bloggers there were? It seems so long ago.
does anyone know anything at all about “sealed vs sealed”?
does it even exist, are these charges already filed waiting for a hearing or is it discretionary weather or not the case is heard at all
Neil >
The name Marc Rich comes to mind…
“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” – Gandalf the Grey
Christy, FDL legal eagles -
Is acceptance of a Presidential pardon an unequivocal admission of guilt as a matter of law (beyond the political spin noise)?
.
That’s funny, this morning on the FDL Gabbly someone said “gosh, there are a lot of men here today!”
it’s even Fitzmas in HEAVEN!!!!
seriously though, thanks for the great coverage, all of you. WHAT A BLAST this has been.
DING to the Wilson’s, indeed!
I had to go back and look at Tweety’s special comment. I was so irritated by the roundtable, setting the table for a pardon, that I skipped over his last comment. It’s true that he was pretty hard-hitting about how this is just the tip of the iceberg–that the administration needs to start answering some questions.
Olbermann, of course, has been fantastic. 15 minutes with Ambassador Wilson. 15-20 minutes with David Shuster, who has done heroic work on this story. And now a look at whether this White House is under a cloud. His first take: the forecast for this administration is at least partly cloudy!
Is it just me or does Mrs. Libby look like Michael Jackson without an umbrella?
I. Guilty
II. Guilty
III. Not Proven Guilty
IV. Guilty
V. Guilty
If you rotate it 90 degrees, it’s a big middle finger. :)
I don’t feel one bit sorry for Libby. Not in the slightest.
On the other hand, the timing of the US Attny scandal couldn’t be better, because I bet that Abu Gonzalas was planning on firing Fitz from his job in Chicago just as soon as this was over…and well, now they have once again overreached themselves and Fitz can go after Conrad Black.
Thank you, I was afraid to say that!
Wow, Howard Fineman on Countdown has really cut loose: about Cheney being the “man behind the curtain,” about how this gives the “seal of approval” to all the critics; “White House playing fast & loose with facts.”
Where were ya earlier in this fiasco?
TeddySanFran – Boyking
is that a gerund? “Libby suffered a boyking. He get boyked.”
Undrerstand the guidlines? yes. Have a copy here at home with me here? no.
After totally humilating myself by mis citing the section of Rule 6 today I am loath to ry to cite statutes from memeory ever again.
With that caveat: Setencing guidlines do not focus on the sentence referenced in the criminal statute, They are focuus on conduct.
The crimes that Scooter is convicted of do not have the usual “degree of difficulty” enhancements that drive up a guidlelines calculation.
It doesn’t look like it nvolved a “high degeree of plannig” (in fact it looked like Scooter made them up on the spot), it (the perjury) was not a violent time, it was not done for $.etc, etc, etc
I keep wondering if Fitz’s “I’m done” posture might be intended to convince Scooter that his cooperation might so valuable enough to earn him a “get out of jail free” card? IANAL but if I were Jeffress, that’s what I’d be computing.
LoneStarLiberal: I was so irritated by the roundtable, setting the table for a pardon, that I skipped over his last comment.
Yeah, I was struck by how damn cynical they were, basically saying that these CYA pardons are OK. Where’s the outrage? This is just like Poppy’s pardon of all the Iran-Contra conspirators, and they acted like that was perfectly OK! WTF?
I like the way urban pirate “looks” at things…
“What gets us into trouble is not what we don’t know, it’s what we know for sure that just ain’t so.” – Mark Twain
John Dean up next on Countdown. Keith has good guests on this tonight. No shills.
I keep wondering if Fitz’s “I’m done” posture might be intended to convince Scooter that his cooperation might so valuable enough to earn him a “get out of jail free” card? IANAL but if I were Jeffress, that’s what I’d be computing.
I’m hoping it was a signal to congress that they need not worry about interfering with his investigation.
KO: up to 25 years
Me too.
I have to admit that asking if ‘Are we there yet?’ caused me no end of amusement.
Man,what a great day for America!
I do want to give Chris Matthews credit. Remember, he was the reason Libby contacted Tim Russert. Matthews has been a junkyard dog these days, and more power to him.
Keep posting the media coverage of the Libby Verdict everyoneand links tocoverage at C&L, NPR etc. This is great.
Wolcott puts it succinctly:
Let the Whining Begin:
I think Jeralyn says the sentences are concurrent, so you cant just add the charges together.
Good point.
Keith is addressing the prearrange pardon theory
Keith asking about “pre-arranged pardon.” Good question.
Did anyone catch Fineman (sp?) on KO compare possible Libby pardon at the end of Bush’s presidency, to pardons at the end of Clintons. Wouldn’t the most appropriate comparrison be Bush Sr. Iran Contra pardons of the same gang of pnac attackers? *sheeesh*
I listened to Jeralyn on the Rachel Maddow show this afternoon and she was saying the sentences would run concurrently.
Evening gang — checking in for a minute or two, between changing sheets on The Peanut’s bed (she’s not feeling well…’nough said) and getting ready to get her back up in bed again. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the support through all of our coverage. You guys rock!
(And Teddy at 84 — It is an awfully cute little car, isn’t it? I LOVE mine. It is my first brand new car, and I have to confess that the new car smell is wonderful. *g*)
I wanna hear from the Flamethrower…Norske, Norske, Norske!!!
Talk about rockin. . .FDL is the bomb!
Joe Scarborough was really funny tonite. He was upset that Scooter had ever been tried, let alone convicted. He was angry at the justice department, almost to the point that I thought Clinton was President again.
Remember, Republicans, you impeached Clinton for lying. You set the standard that lying is bad, so you have to live with it.
This is truly a great day. I am so ecstatic that the jury found Libby guilty!!! I hope Walton throws the book at him.
I am sad however, that there likely be no more from Fitz on this case
R.I.P. Ernest Gallo
I’m listening to the Denis Collins video… Hannah turned out to be a pretty important witness.
Christy…. Again, thanks for everything!
Re class of ‘91 Stacey had, my last name, which is also my handle, but lived her senior year in Lawrence House, not Tyler.
BTW my wife’s Christmas present was a white Honda AWD CRV EX-L. I had it detailed so that she can brew coffee while working out before dawn at the gym. She ain’t Smith, but the mother of two sisters and I love her…
Makes me feel for Wilson, mucho.
Best of luck to you and the crew. You are stars!!
Christy, I’m sorry to hear The Peanut is under the weather but I’m gonna take this opportunity to say I can’t thank you enough for all you have done to illuminate this complicated story.
John Dean saying “much much worse than Watergate.”
When they’re not doing their best Carl Lewis impersonation at the sight of an unfriendly camera, that is.
I done talked to the judge in private early this morning
And he took me to the sheriff’s office to sign a warning
Gonna get a true charge agin’ ya
That’ll be the very thing that’ll send ya
I’m gonna see that you be back home in thirty months
;>)
There will be more if and when Congresscritters actually decide to DO their jobs.
Mr. Conyers and Mr. Rockefeller, etc. Are you listening?
Feel better, wee Peanut.
On KO, John Dean: “this is much much worse than Watergate”
I like Stan Brand’s take on the potential for appeal better than others I’ve seen.
Armin Shimerman/ Principal Snyder can play him in the movie. (help me, I can’t stop casting!)
heh RevDeb, owe you a Coke!
Maybe George H.W.Bush approaches Wilson and cuts a deal: Cheney resigns and you let my boy be.
Hey darkblack, thanks for noticing that little bit of news…
Olbermann just said this was a conviction of the one man who threw sand in the face of the referree. I thought it was umpire?
In other Keith news, he’s had a haircut. Not quite as monumental as before–looks great–guess he knows how many more people want a look at him these days.
Fini, How come?
TwistedMartini@129
man, am I slow, must be all that cuervo.
revdeb- SNAP! I owe you a Coke. Don’t you know that one?
RevDeb, because I said the same thing you did about John Dean, slightly slower than you up the thread. :)
I’d have quoted you directly, VG, but the gollums ate the quote button.
;>)
And Least we forget, Molly Ivins is smiling in heaven tonight!
Dean thinks shrub will pardon him but it will be a blot on his place in history.
Dang, no special comment!
darkblack- the quote button was disabled to a greater cause- to keep the FDL servers up to snuff on verdict day.
The “I’m too important for my shirt” defense did not work. Who was the firepup who suggested early in the trial that was the defense?
Do you think Bush actually cares at this point about his place in history? I’m not sure he does.
No special comment because Keith was on vacation. He wasn’t expecting to be working tonight and did the show from Tampa.
Scott McClellan (sp) on Larry King!
Here on the left coast Larry King is up and Joe Wilson is a guest.
FDL I love you! I don’t have TV access where I live so I have to get everything online. You are it!!!
One question: by outing Valerie, didn’t the neocons also remove an expert on Iran nuclear capabilities, so that Cheny and other could easily lie about that as well without any adverse backtalk? I see this as an ongoing situation, that they see all pluses in outing Valerie, and then saying how she wasn’t important. It’s another subtrafuge.
Joe Wilson on Larry King now…
As KO and John Dean discuss the pardon timing as the Bush second term winds down, I wish someone would point out that if the umpire had not had sand kicked in his eyes during this investigation, there might not BE a Bush second term!
Switch from JoeScar to Larry King. Joe Wilson on.
Tweety on Scarborough Country. Interesting.
Fini FiniTOOBZ@156,
I think George H.W. Bush cares alot because the family legacy is all tied up, at thie point, by his dim son.
RedState in full-on denial mode. Overzealous prosecutor, political hit job, Libby should be given the same sentence as perjurors Bill Clinton or Sandy Berger, etc. Almost like a broken robot right before it goes kablooey and parts go flying everywhere. DUCK!
RevDeb@152
Shrub’s whole presidency has been a blot on his place in history.
VG @ 154:
A plebian explanation to dissuade my childish fantasies, eh?
;>)
Scarborough wants to reduce this to “he said-she said”. That must be the Republican spin.
TeddySF at 162
Hear, Hear!
DING!
Arianna is on MSNBC!!
Elliot,
Shrub has been a blot on the country and the world. Dishonor doesn’t begin to describe what he has done to the office.
John Dean said that it would be a dangerous pardon. That it would be a conflict of interest.
Scarborough Country on now. Can’t watch–caught a glimpse of him earlier–he was so worked up I thought he was going to pop a blood vessel.
Over to Larry King and Joe Wilson.
Thanks to everyone at FireDogLake for all of the amazing work that you have done on this case. Couldn’t be more inspiring…
Thank Keith (and his boss Dan Abrams) for interrupting his vacation to do tonight’s show:

The father already knows the family legacy is doomed. Why else would he break down like he did at Jeb’s final public event as Florida’s Governor? He knows, finally.
Is there any chance Walton would opt to send Scooter to jail on sentencing day?
darkblack- yes and no ;) I put a little twist of words in there for you…
Shrub’s whole presidency has been a blot on his place in history.
he blot the farm.
Joe W.: “I did not testify, I did not attend any of the sessions.” not said, “but I did follow the whole thing on Firedoglake.com!”
metaphorically speaking, of course…
Fini FiniTOOBZ@175
That was my thought also when I saw him weeping.
BTW when does Libby’s Mug Shot become public?
Sr. was thinking during that weepy session that he wanted Michael to be pres. but got Fredo instead.
Spoiler: yes, Walton’s O.R. bond today lasts only through the June sentencing date. Which means, I guess, that Walton either frees Libby pending appeal, or not.
pwright-
do you think the mug shot will be a classic like Delay’s?
Buchanan agreeing with Ariana!
RevDeb@183
After all these years, Sr. should know that anything involving Jr. can only be bad.
Nice going Vito you fucking asshole!
Of course Barlett and Bolten were in the Oval with Chimpy for the verdict — does anyone think Chimpy knows how to work the remote himself?
RevDeb – I still think Bush Co. is still plotting to have Cheney step down and have Jeb finish off the VP term. Nice little stepping stone for Jeb. And I don’t have any confidence that the Rep or Dems would stand in the way of that happening.
Cheney stepping down could be the price of a pardon.
I know Bush is ignorant but he knows how to keep his ass safe.
Who flipped Joe and Pats switch? Sounds much different on Joes show than the reports of their remarks on Tuckers show I read here a few hours back.
Would they be pandering to leftover KO viewers?
Kos has a great observation about the MSM and the blogs . . . what is news and what is worth paying attention to.
Feel better, peanut!
Great work, FDL!
Heh, found out tonight that I’ve met one of the jurors (colleague of a friend.) Small world, D.C. More like two degrees of separation.
I wonder if GHWB hurt GWBs feelings that day, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
ES,AR: Yes
Tula has a new thread upstairs- just in case anyone wants to multitask-
This story is really confusing to Larry King. He thinks Valerie still works at the CIA.
Raven– there’s plenty of time for a special comment (or more).
It’s all good.
The more the mighty wurlitzer roars and foams and spews, the more we will need the truth to continue to be spoken every single day/night.
This is a mighty blow. The WH is spinning and Laura is takin’ a double dose tonite while boosh and the shooter could well be…
well, you know– locked and loaded.
Hello all,
I took some photos at the courthouse today. It’s a hodge podge, and they are sorta in reverse order.
There’s a couple good ones in there of Jane with Colins. Tried to get some pics to give a feel for the scene. Especially to show how close the courthouse is to the Capitol (site of more drama today). BTW – The juror went on for a very long time, he was very accomodating. Marcy had an audience when she did the Politics TV thing. I think some kids got educated today – good work Marcy!
This is the same routine they have had for a while. That’s why I was surprised to hear how they ranted on Tucker (the punk)>
Thanks, TeddySanFran … I’m thinking Walton is key to whether Scooter ever sees a day of jail. If he puts Scooter behind bars at sentencing, that could also be our only chance Scooter would implicate others.
Eureka Springs@191
Ariana’s watching them now, not Tucker, so they change their tune.
VG:
For some, one snuff just isn’t enough.
The rest of us ‘law-abiding types’ must vicariously thrill to second-hand tales of depravity in gilded palaces of sin.

Eureka,
I always thought that Joe Scar did not have a change of stripes and panders to KO’s viewers to try to up his own sorry numbers. I always try to find something else to watch at 9. TVLand now has MASH on every night at 9. Works for me.
I passed up buying a copy of the magazine, Texas Monthly, because it had Bush’s picture on it and I just couldn’t bring myself to really look at it. A friend called me today and told me to buy a copy and read it assuring me I would like it. I believe eleven of twelve historians conclude Bush will be the worst president ever. (Not that FDLers don’t already know this fact).
This month’s issue is about Bush’s legacy. Here’s the story info on the cover of the magazine:
The Test of Time
George W. Bush says he doesn’t have time to think about his legacy, but the rest of us have no such trouble. We asked some of the smartest people we could think of—prize-winning historians, presidential scholars, White House vets—to predict how 43 will be judged and to suggest what, if anything, he can still do about it.

This story is really confusing to Larry King. He thinks Valerie still works at the CIA.
methinks he has what Domenici has, and Bunning(?)
Mebbe they should vote and advocate for some stem cell research, Elliot.
sheesh.
another crime brought to the world by the thugs.
on cspan tonite –
“Reaction to Scooter Libby Conviction” (10pm)
Joe Wilson continues to link these lies of Scooter’s with the lies that led our troops to be in Iraq today. This is a great message.
OK Kiddo – Come home, you hear?
Juror Collins on LKing now.
Libby juror Denis Collins on Larry King now.

Agree that Scarborough Country doesn’t seem to be quite so right wing (although a panel with a former Republican congressman, a former Republican candidate for president and Arianna Huffington can hardly be called balanced).
Maybe Dan Abrams has Scarborough on a short leash. Countdown is doing so well–maybe he’s encouraging him to be a little smarter. Sure would be nice.
twisted logic:
Libby’s lie was not about sex
Libby’s lie was about not sex
Libby’s lie was not a lie about sex
Libby’s lie was not a lie
Clinton lied about sex
Clinton is a liar not Libby
LoneStar,
Scarborough isn’t worth the effort to try to psych him out. He’s just another media whore. Abrams is no dummy, but so what?
Now that the verdict is in…
on cspan tonite –
“Reaction to Scooter Libby Conviction” (10pm)
I bet Republican Congresspeople were instructed to give speeches on the floor of the House until so way late so C-SPAN won’t be able to televise any Libby-related programming.
lhp, I can match that. On election night, right after they called it for Leibershmuck with 2% of precincts in, I ran to see what everyone was saying on the Lake and my computer promptly died.
And then my head exploded.
Lone Star Liberal-
Scarborough’s ideology is fungible.
Actually I’ve found Joe Scarborough in agreement with the liberaltarians like me for quite a while. He had such a shrill voice in Congress during the Clinton years that it distracts from the fact that he is one of those paleoconservatives who hate neocons like Pat Buchanan and George Will. They end up accidentally agreeing with progressives, libertarians and liberals by default because everyone ends up agreeing the neocons suck badly.
Anyone want to wager if King will ask the juror about the valentine t-shirts?
Eureka,
I doubt it. Larry probably doesn’t even know about the t-shirts.
It’s hard to set up a winning wager around here. *s*
Anyone want to wager if King will ask the juror about the valentine t-shirts?
maybe larry King is t-shirts to the wind

oh punaise, you are all heart…)
Scotty up now on King’s show.
Jane talked with this juror and has a Huff post:
Now Scott McClellan crawls back and on to Larry King.
-
Scotty M. looks excited about the verdict.
Gergen says this administration has been “mostly free from scandal in its 6 years.” WTF?????
Hey, been away looking at Pat AlexVA’s photo album (linked above)
Great pix, Pat. I thought the one with (L to R) Jeffress and Ms. Libby, Wells, then Scooter was especially nice.
this one here
Gergen carrying water.
holy crap!
Scottie says that he and Bush were lied to?
Well if you consider free from scrutiny to be the same as free from scandal. I could agree with that.
They have been far worse than scandalous. (as we all know)
“holy crap!
Scottie says that he and Bush were lied to?”
Which is EXACTLY why I wouldn’t bet the farm on a pardon ; )
Scottie sez the WH needs to find some way to talk about this now that the verdict is in.
Irony’s deep, but Larry lets it go by.
Teddy,
Larry’s obviously not playing with a full deck.
It’s been a great day! Good night!!
This “conflict of interest” meme about the pardon is very important as well. A pardon of Libby isn’t like the Marc Rich pardon Clinton gave. Libby’s pardon is like Weinberger’s by Bush1 — there is a direct line of authority between the pardonee and the pardoner.
Thanks VG! This is one of my favorites. Jane getting the early interview with Collins.
From Keith olberman to the beginning of Scarborough with Arianna it’s been a schadenfreudenlich delight.
His guilt means absolutely nothing and it frustrates the shit out of me. Even if Libby is the fall guy, and say they do go after Cheney or Rove…nothing will come of it.
It will get appealed, it will get overturned, they’ll get pardoned, they won’t be in a typical jail…it’s bullshit.
The “guilt” is a fallacy, and the whole thing is a facade to placate the public into thinking justice was served, when really not a god damned thing has been done.
This country disappoints me more and more.
Oh, and I think y’all will enjoy Twolf1’s link at 216… http://www.wolfblog.net/images/Rice_Condi_P.jpg
I know I did!
omg Susan McDougal !!
It’d be way to brazen for the Chimp to pardon Scooter Libby. He wouldn’t dare. Would he?
That pic was funny, VG. Now the verdict is in, we can all take that advice.
Suzanne says
That pic was funny, VG. Now the verdict is in, we can all take that advice.
so that’s why watertiger couldn’t keep still earlier…
TSF posted this link to a good media matters post earlier. Thought I would post it once again.
Libby’s guilty verdict: Media myths and falsehoods to watch for
Suzanne- yes, I did like the twolf1 pic. It had a special meaning to me! ;)
I personally think that a pardon is NOT in the works for Scooter due to the Wilson’s civil suit and that Wells/Jeffress have got to be assessing the costs/benefits of giving Fitz something to pursue. I thought his choice of words regarding future actions was rather deliberate.
I know I am being very un-pc here, but damn she looks good in that photo.
Good for them.
Even if Libby is not pardon doesn’t he still have to answer questions in civil matters. If he doesn’t he can be fined.
skeeve@ 251
You know what they say. Living well is the best revenge. I’m all for it. Valerie does look wicked hot in couture (and I’m not being homoerotic either.)
Sh*t, Dickerson on King’s show. I have no respect for him whatsoever.
Did anyone notice Justice Alito’s comment on Fitz’s page? It’s in the lightning thread. It sure startled me, in a good way. Remarkable.
Scottie: Admin was trying to set the record straight….
Link?
Gergen sounds truly startled that a DeeCee jury worked so hard and was so smart.
hesikastor – Alito’s comment? Where?
Gergen singing the praises of Collins and the jury.
nice.
Juror Collins on the twelfth juror: Not really supposed to talk about that, but she was confused about what to bring into the jury room, she brought something she wasn’t supposed to bring in.
(I bet it was Toensing’s column.)
So, where is Joe?
Judy Miller clip on LKing
Teddy- then again, maybe it was a dictionary…
“Juror Collins on the twelfth juror: Not really supposed to talk about that”
His personal choice, nothing legaly to prevent him
Dickerson is such a mealymouthed child of privilege. He is what is wrong with the inside-the-Beltway legacy system.
Teddy-Juror Collins on the twelfth juror: Not really supposed to talk about that, but she was confused about what to bring into the jury room, she brought something she wasn’t supposed to bring in.
(I bet it was Toensing’s column.)
my thought on that is (seeing she was an art researcher) wikipedia articles on the key players?
Valley Girl super sleuth? Did you use your remarkable search skills to check the Alito claim?
Dickerson: embarrassed he didn’t recognize the significance of what Ari told him. Didn’t want to admit he missed a big story.
If this is in reference is to http://patrickjfitzgerald.blogspot.com/ then I think it is a pseudo-blog along the lines of http://harrietmiers.blogspot.com/
yep, on the Dickerson thing.
my big shake about him though was when he said that Fleisher never told him about Valerie…
Collins doesn’t have this info.
thank gawd this is LKL.
Eureka- no, I wasn’t quite sure what it meant… I thought it might refer to the pseudo Fitz blog. I too would like a link.
ES, I’m not as good as VG at searching for stuff on the web but I believe this is the thread that was referred to.
I haven’t searched the comments yet for Alito.
Yes, Hesikastor is referring to the pseudo-blog and mistaking it and the commenter names for the real thing…or pulling our legs.
chiming in to praise the techs that run this site. Way to keep it up! Big day for y’all. I won’t use the k word. I loathe that corporate neo-speak. How’s this?– Wrawk.
Thanks VG, The more I think about it the less likely I think it would be the real Alito in either blog. He could have a case on many of these topics someday…soon I hope..)
If Libby were pardoned would that nullify his disbarment?
persistent,
no. a presidential pardon implies or requires admission of guilt. I doubt that any bar would allow a convicted perjurer or obstructor of justice to practice law. At least I would hope not.
persistant – I am not sure but someone mentioned in an earlier thread that the DC bar page shows that his is not licensed. He didn’t pay fees, iirc.
A perspective from a past CIA director…
“We need more human intelligence. That means we need more protection for the methods we use to gather intelligence and more protection for our sources, particularly our human sources, people that are risking their lives for their country. Even though I’m a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors.”
George H.W. Bush
Valerie is so beautiful – she outshines any of our favorites to play her in a movie. Can she act? Could she play herself? Uncool to do so? Dangerous?
And Joe Wilson has no peer for elegance, sophistication, humility, gentlemanly honor, wisdom, or heroic civic-mindedness.
Who but Grace Kelly and Cary Grant? Denzel has the elegance. But no woman on screen has the grace of Valerie.
Joe noticed tonight on Larry King that no one – Bush or Cheney – was disappointed or sorrrowful that Valerie’s career was ruined by Scooter. (And others)
El Matachin
Which past CIA director?
Why GHWB cried.
It just really hit me after all the excitement today, that FITZMAS HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! Not a lot of ways for the WH to spin this. A VICTORY FOR OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM, FDL AND ALL OF US THAT HAVE FOLLOWED THIS SINCE DAY ONE!!!
p.s. After listening to Fitz on television tonight, gosh, he’s brillant and attractive in my book!!
El Matachin
Which past CIA director?
never mind… didn’t see the last line…. feeling like emily latella
Dumb question.
Was Plame considered a covert operative according to law?
If I remember today correctly, DeafbyPills, Fitz said she was.
FYI, Just got this from a friend of mine at The Bureau (FBI)…

I had the privilege of standing near Joe Wilson as he talked to well-wishers. He autographed my copy of his book, one of my favorites. It was a town hall / neighborhood meeting for Rep. Jay Inslee [D-WA] and they are friends. Later Joe and of course Jay spoke to our gathering to support Jay’s (never in doubt) re-election to Congress. Jay isn’t my rep but is a hero around here and promotes all Dem candidates in the state. He’s made environmental issues his own – the Apollo Project and House Bill. He’s down to earth, handsome, progressive, and asked us in an elevator once how we liked his new jacket that Trudy (Mrs. Inslee) had bought him. We had been at a garden rooftop meeting with Howard Dean, newly installed DNC Chair and favorite in Seattle. Heady times.
And today we got justice and accountability. Howard Dean who has a habit of always being right (except about FOX debates in NV) said many moons ago that the indictment was sad. Sad it is even while we celebrate justice. Sad for our country that it has come to this. Today Fitz said it was sad and Joe Wilson said the same on Larry King.
Progressives love justice with such a passion that we can weep while we celebrate our wins. Or maybe its an Irish thing, being a 7th generation Irish in North America I understand heroism tainted with sorrow – and drink of couse.
Coyoteville- I believe “teh” is an intentional typo. I’m just a lurker here, for the most part and had been seeing that a lot so looked it up on wiki.

Here’s the wikipedia article. Sorry.
DbP:
Wiki is not always reliable. C&L has the Fitzgerald post verdict statement in full
fyi late nite is up

I’ve been marveling for the past don’t remember how long at what a wonderful, committed, brilliant bunch you all are. You are the good guys, but then you already know that. Finally, finally the MSM seems to have noticed the importance of this story. Maybe the Scooter fund will raise tons of money, maybe Libby will get his new trial, maybe he’ll get a pardon. Really though, it’s over…when the Washington insiders start to concede that Libby lied, it’s over. This was the catalyst, can Congress not investigate further? Take a bow folks, you are the best team in town. You are all personable, likeable, earnest, funny, smart and fantastic communicators? Good looking, yes that too, besides down to earth, not to mention a tick irreverent in the best tradition of free spirited Americans. Thank you, thank you – and to Fitzgerald & his team too. They say we’ll be getting some snow tomorrow, it’ll be a white Fitzmas, how about that?
I’m deaf. I can’t watch the *.wmv since there’s no closed captioning.
I am sorry, DeafByPills.
That’s just wrong.
DBP,
Amato at Crooks & Liars almost always posts the transcript along with the video, at least when it is available.
To answer your question about Val being covert, Fitz did confirm it today. In reality, there would never have been a case referred to the DoJ from the CIA if she had not been. The wingnuts keep spreading nonsense that she was a desk jockey. It is pure nonsense. Joe Wilson also confirmed it today.
Just to clarify, there should be absolutely no question or question mark for that matter, in my previous comment in the sentence ending, “fantastic communicators.” That was meant to be a declaration beyond any question at all.
Just a uick stop by to congratulate all of you for your perserverance on this issue.
Congrats to Fitzgerald too for his hard work paying off.
Really, what a terrible thing for Libby to have done. He must be so ashamed.
I just registered at Yearly Kos and hope to see y’all there!
Boudica says March 6th, 2007 at 8:12 pm at #294 – I agree:
Jane, Christy, Marcy, Pach, everyone… thank you for everything! Now explain, Libby threw sand in our eyes, Cheney is under a cloud, Valerie was covert for sure…how can Fitz stop now?
PS I know this is dumb but what does EPU’d mean?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHH HHHHHH HHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHH HHH HHHHHHHHnow i can say it – FITZPATRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
and also – BIG UPS TO FIREDOGLAKE who helped this dumb ole girl understand all this legal stuff!!!!
Normally I wouldn’t be so “shallow” to make such an observation as this but, they sure are a good looking couple. They look very natural together.
