If Cheney were to resign for health or other reasons, Shrubya would nominate someone who could fill Shooter’s shoes. You never know, Shrubya might be impeached or otherwise leave office. The Repubs will want a VP who thinks big thoughts, and able to fill Shrubya’s shoes as required.

I agree, it would be someone equally evil to shooter. My guess is Abu Gonzales.

Her testimony this morning was moving and powerful. Very frustrating listening to her and knowing the neglect and disrepect showed her and her husband are be repeated a thousand times over.

Re: appointing a new Veep

Conventional wisdom, back when the Goopers were in the majority was that the Senate and House would never vote to confirm McCain as Veep because that would mean their buddies Frist and Allen wouldn’t be able to go for the nomination.

But now, I wonder whether the reason the Goopers in Congress wouldn’t vote to confirm him is because McCain as an incumbent would be just as bad as Dubya as an incumbent. Which means the Democratic majority might vote overwhelmingly to confirm him…..

I bet what the Libby’s are going through is nothing like what Plame’s connections went through after her outing. And it can not compare to what the people of Iraq are going through right now.

I didn’t say I feel sorry for him or that he doesn’t deserve a guilty conviction. All I said was, if I feel agitated by this waiting process, I can imagine how agitated the Libby’s feel.

Cheney will on blood thinner for the next few months. Blood thinner is the same compound as many rat poisons, only far more expensively packaged. (Nor is it any fun to be on.) But I certainly don’t mean to steer this in the direction of any predictable jokes. We should excoriate and punish him for his crimes alone.

Late to this, but if I’m following, the jury seems to be saying, we have a verbatim transcript from the GJ and in it, Libby says pretty much the same things as what Bond is saying Libby told her back when he gave his FBI statement.

So for anyone on the fence about whether there is a sufficiency of proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, as to what Libby actually told Bond (for which there is no transcript) and how accurate her notes/recollection might be — can we use the GJ transcript, about which there isn’t really a question, as a confirming piece of evidence to bolster the likely accuracy of Bond’s notes/recollections.

Prosecution – sure, its a bit of a course of conduct situation; the first lie locked him into repeating the same lie.

Defense – the jury has to believe Bond’s evidence beyond a reasonable doubt standing on its own, they can’t look to post-crime confirmatory evidence to help them decide whether or not Bond’s evidence shows guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They can’t use the GJ statement as further evidence of the FBI statement.

Is that where you guys are with this?

I LOVED that they had the GJ transcript, considering that they didn’t have a transcript of the trial, and felt that if they were careful and really read it that Libby did not have a chance. Its all there in black & white, Libby lied through his teeth over and over and over again.
