I have two much older cats, 14 now, that are also incredibly soft and cuddly, at least with me (sometimes w/my husband, especially since Athens suddenly got cold this month). A stocky gray and tan tortie and a lithe maine coon mix.

The Maine coon mix is in my lap now, and usually tries to cram herself between our pillows around 2 or 3am. The tortie sleeps up against my chest, often resting her chin across my cheek. She usually comes to bed right about 10 minutes after I’m in–I guess to let me warm things up first. She’s a smart girl.

I also cannot fall asleep without her curled up to me. Over the course of the night, we’ll often end up more just next to one another, but when I roll over, she’ll climb over me so she’s always asleep against my chest. She usually prefers men, but nighttime is our time. Or maybe sleeping is; she horns in on naps, as well. If I’m sick in bed, she keeps the other cat at a distance, so I’ll sleep. When I broke up with my college boyfriend, she’d curl around my head on my pillow and purr loudly when I cried.

She’s also the only cat I’ve ever known that was scared of heights.

Yay TRex! My cousin just told me last weekend her son said, “Mom, she’s weird!” refering to me. I had emailed him since he’s schooling in Europe this year and apparently I attached some photos of “my girl and boy” and he expected human babies. Haahhahaa, he should know by now I don’t have kids. Oh well, he knows now.

I have one like that too; a Perpetual Infant Babycat. Maggie is all white, with the pink nose and pink ears of a bunnyrabbit, and pink-lined eyes that give her face a slightly fetal cast, as if they took her out of the oven too soon. She wrinkles up her face like a kitten when she meows, she wants to be held or cuddled 24 HOURS A DAY, and if she weren’t prone to bouts of extreme ferocity in between being the Softest 9.6 Pounds of Cute Overload Ever.

TRex @ 57

I must get over my grieving. Come spring, I will be looking for a cat, that’s for sure…

Get yourself a Meezer. You’ll never be sorry. If you can find a breeder with the round-headed traditional Siamese, so much the better. They have the best dispositions.

I have three cats and can’t imagine my life without them. All three were orphans. Now we are a family.

My youngest, Sydney Elizabeth, is a “munchkin” cat. Basically, she has these ridiculously short, skinny little legs holding up a Budda shaped body, topped off with the smallest head I’ve ever seen. Her eyes are almost as big as her ears and she doesn’t meow- she talks in spurts. LOL The vet said the munchkin breed will always be kitten sized with the playful spirit. Sydney is a freakin’ hoot. She runs with her head down, flat footed like a bull and frequently runs into walls, my bed, furniture, her sisters, me. She loves water and will take a bath with me by laying on my chest, with just her under carriage exposed to the water. In fact, if I am on my back for any reason, Sydney will take her place with her face tucked up in the crook of my neck, whiskers tickling me and her little front arms stretched out around my neck like a baby. This breed is special. :)

what happened to the homeless vet guy?

He’s still around…I could tell you stories about him though. So far he’s chapter seven in my book. If I ever finish it. I had that place for 13 years. One time I sent him across the street to check my lotto tickets. Customers always throw lotto tickets in parking lots and some would blow in the back door. We used to save them in a jar. When I’d get a bunch, I’d tell him, “Here, go check my lotto tickets, we’ll be partners on any that win”. Believe it or not, one day he hit a winner for $2.00. So he brought himself a can of beer in a little brown bag and put a buck for me in his pocket. When he went to cross the street, the ligh turned red. Impatiently, while waiting for the light to change, he pulled the tab on the can and took a swig. A cop car in line, flashed his blues, and arressted the poor guy for drinking in public. And I didn’t know it. Until 60 days later, a car pulls up and drops him off, clean shaven, looking good….and it blamed it on me. I asked him where my buck was and he says I lost him money he could have been making selling the Sunday paper up at the intersection. So, I gave him 10 bucks and a broom.
