In interviews with Pentagon investigators, the summary document said, Feith insisted that his activities did not constitute intelligence and that “even if they were, [they] would be appropriate given that they were responding to direction from the Deputy Secretary of Defense.”

For those too young to know: When Adolph Eichmann used the defense, “I was only following orders,” as several Nazi defendants claimed at the Nuremburg War Trials. [Eichmann was the primary overseer of the deportation of the Jews and others to the death camps and other concentration camps.]

Eichmann was executed for his crimes.

Of course, the other take on this Feith statement is the Dick Nixon claim of, “If the President does it, it isn’t illegal.” Feith evidently remembered Nixon and chose the word “approporiate” rather than claim it was all legal.

In other words, Feith and all the rest of the warped neo-con fools are claiming they really, really didn’t violate the National Security Act of 1947 because the OSP wasn’t doing “intelligence.”

But, of course, they really weren’t doing “intelligence,” because it takes someone with intelligence to do “intelligence,” and we can definitely rule out any neo-cons at the OSP having any “intelligence.”

Gen. Franks had it right. In fact, maybe he’ll be called as a character witness at Feith’s trial…and at the trials of all of the other neo-con fools who violated the National Security Act in pursuit of their horrific, delustional and utterly insane goals.

The Pincus article on the IG report has been pulled from the Washington Post site!

It was off for about an hour with this brief note, “An article about a Pentagon inspector general’s report on pre-Iraq war intelligence is being reviewed by The Washington Post. Check back later for updates.” Then it returned rewritten with a correction note. Apparently the authors collated the IG report and Levin’s comments as if it all came from from the report. I’ll bet there was one hot phone call from somebody. I’ve never seen a Washington Post article pulled and rewritten.

There was another article about Feith on the front page of the Washington Post, but the link disappeared about the same time as the Pincus article from the main page, though that article is still online.

I wonder who called?

It would seem to me that by encouraging an invasion under falsely contrived intelligence, removing the US military from other Areas of Operation, having troops and the intelligence services investigate false reports of WMD’s or links between Al Qaida and Iraq, that the resultant 3000 US Military deaths and 20,000 casualties and costs approaching $1 trillion would be sufficient to establish harm to the United States.

Lies to Congress, and the American people and our Allies that have harmed the US Governments reliability as an honest broker and source of information certainly aids our enemies and foreign governments and entities that benefitted to the detriment of the UnitedStates.
