Heard from a colleague last night that 2 of my former parishioners are near death. Youngish women who brought strength and laughter to every encounter. Will be calling them today. Sad beyond words.

Did you watch the State of the State last night? Jennifer was on fire — what a fabulous speech! (But then when doesn’t she give a fabulous speech?) I just hope the Repubs in the Senate (who had already made up their minds before she spoke) don’t keep her from accomplishing what needs to be done to save the state.

Well, I actually went out for brunch with the hubby, ran a few errands, and now have to do business work all day… but i can peek in for trial updates quite frequently. I did get out of the bathrobe to go out in the 4 degree weather… it’s windy, too! At least the sun is shining brightly, so it looks purty while you’re shivering.

I missed Jennifer Granholm’s speech (working, then out for the late dinner). The four headlines on the Free Press website (for the people outside of Michigan, the Free Press is our Democratic-leaning paper)are not all that flattering:
• Granholm: We need tax boost, investment in education
• Speech big on hope, skimpy on the details
• Upbeat Granholm called out of touch
• Plan to raise taxes questioned
• Granholm pushes to improve accountability

The Detroit News (our Conservative Republican paper) has an unflattering picture and summary: “Gov: More Taxes, Cuts”.

Ok then, all is well in the world, back to shopping, nothing to see her…..

Journalist and the mainstream outlets that they work for are not innocent or omnipotent. Judy Miller and the New York Times (they did edit her work thoroughly or verify her sources for the WND STORIES, which we know ended up being false) are the premiere examples. many of us knew they were false based on El Baradei’s speech at the UN  in March of 2002 where he told the world that the Niger Documents were false (the MSM barely gave his speech any coverage). The Diane Rehms show ( one mainstreamer trying to provide the public with a full and honest view of issues) had Zbigniew Brezenski, Scott Ritter, Cia analyst and many more experts questioning the validity of the intelligence and sanity of an invasion.

Why should the public trust the majority of the mainstream media they failed (not all but most) in the run-up to the invasion. THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET…THANK GOD FOR AN ALTERNATIVE WAY TO ACCESS INFORMATION AND OPINIONS…THANK GOD FOR THE BLOGGERS!

The mainstream is terrified of this alternative, and are busy trying to figure out how they can participate and dominate the news once again,,,they are losing.

There may be some times when a high-up source is willing to be more honest with a reporter on background than on the record, but that’s certainly not the way to bet.
