The original story was in April of 2003 in the time of the rampant looting. I take it to be credible because I saw the people dumping the tall blue barrels on some of the newscasts. It turned into another story down the memory hole – gone and mostly forgotten now, like the museum lootings.

I think of those poor folks and the blue barrels whenever I hear the yellow cake name. I could probably dig up some more links on that if anyone is interested.

Last month, looters descended on the concrete depths of the nearby Tuweitha Nuclear Research Center, carrying off dozens of barrels filled with toxic waste. Much of the contaminated material landed in village homes, at least for a time.

Agreed. The clip TDS/Jon Stewart ran of the Blitzer interview showed intense cool and focus. Not that the bomb (”YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!”) isn’t ticking away right below the surface. But Cheney is way too driven and ambitious to let that derail his agenda.

When you came back from your planning meeting in Texas last year, you told me you couldn’t get out of Texas fast enough because everybody there is a gun toting right wing conservative Christian asshole. If Texans are as you say, then why is Tom Delay under indictment in Texas for crimes relating to unseating the Democratic majority in the state legislature? I can’t help but wonder if your attitude resembles the one that led our entire country into the war we’re in. To wit: If muslims attacked us on 9/11/01 then, for our own safety and peace, we need to label all muslims (middle easterners for that matter) terrorists. Label all muslims based on the actions of a few. Ditto Texans. What’s the difference? There is no difference because prejudice is a universally fundamental human trait. Trust me darling Texas is a great state, as culturally rich and no more bigoted nor prejudicial (maybe a little louder) than anywhere else in the world. Molly has been an inspiration and source of comfort to me in these difficult years.
Please mirror, let me not condemn others for what you hide from my own heart.

The reason I am posting it here is:
The Libby trial, and the reporting/analysis of those on this blog, is clearly unwrapping layers of the proverbial onion for all of us with some clear vision to see. I deeply value the work you all do and thank you for giving me a place to gather information with which to do as we ultimately all will do- exercise my own judgement and assesments. As this gets increasingly headier, and it most likely will, pitfalls will present themselves in which you and I can fall and allow our prejudices against the current power structure to influence our judgements in ways that ultimately don’t serve your/my simple mission: truth and justice.
You all have the vision and dedication of great artistry and it’s been an inspiration and source of peace for me. I thank you. I suspect Molly would too.

Balrog at 12 — I could use a blankie myself this morning. I’ve finally figured out where the cold air leak is coming from in our kitchen. Wouldn’t you know that it’s the door frame right by the table where I sit and blog? Am going to have to put some insulated foam strips around the door frame to try and block the draft. It’s just too damn cold here today.

Sounds like every single house in New Orleans in including the one I live in. Including the one that had the great new restaurant that opened since the storm that we went to last night with friends. We had to change tables because it felt like the window was open!

Thank goodness it doesn’t snow here! We would have frostbite from sitting in our living room!

Shrub is now on my CSpan… speaking at the Democratic Caucus Retreat… he sure does not look very comfortable…. good…. he needs to think he is walking into the lions den!

I had read earlier, and was disturbed, that Pelosi had invited Bush to a dem retreat and that she had picked 4 dems to question him, with Steny Hoyer being the first pick. I don’t know what Pelosi’s thinking, but I sure know what I’m thinking, and it ain’t blue dog.
