Great job on the 2006 campaign. It was your first nd my first! I hope you will pick up the reins and run against that no-good, low-down John Doolittle in ‘08. Really enjoyed working with Don and company as a part of Vets for Brown. You’re right–Doolittle is all about P.R. right now but it’s as shallow as ever. The Auburn Dam will cost $10 billion…see if that loser ever gets built! Thanks to you and Jan for the great work.

I’m late to this discussion but I wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation of the campagn you ran against Rep. Doolittle. My good friend and colleague, Curtis Nelson, was a strong supporter of your campaign.

I’m from “down the hill” in the floodplain area of Sacramento and simply amazed at how irresponsible Doolittle’s use of the Auburn Dam to block levee reconstruction has been. I was wondering if anyone has looked into whether Doolittle’s supporters includes developers and real estate speculators who would financially benefit from Federal buyouts related to the Dam, or would be able to put in high-end developments along the new shoreline?

As well, have someone watch carefully regarding who contributes to the Doolittle campaign over the next few months. Essentially these are people who are padding the Doolittle household’s bank accounts!

The fact that Doolittle ran a Campaign that went deeply into debt (why doesn’t he reach into his own assets to pay off these debts…which is what other campaigns do when they get in the red), demonstrates just how bad he is at handling money. The up side to this is that he’ll likely still be paying off his debts while Charlie Brown is benefitting from a healthy campaign fund being filled by average folks.

OK, gang, I have something I want to throw out there for discussion. Jane and I spent a lot of time together last week while she was recuperating and we came up with a few ideas we’ll be rolling out. One has to do with supporting the freshmen who have stood up to Bush. There are 9 who have signed on as co-sponsors of Murtha’s and/or Woolsey’s House bills that I referred to in the intro today. How would you all feel about doing a fundraiser for these 9 freshmen? They all need the money and there are pressures on them to go to lobbyists and other corrupting influences. I’d love some comments on this idea.

Yes, please. ASAP. I’m in. Very astute idea, for a number of reasons. Very good for the other reps who’ve NOT signed to see these folks getting support for their choice.

See, this is why we need Brown for Congress. How many existing Congressional reps even KNOW there is a prosecutor purge?

This is a high level scandal. Will it be in the newspapers? TV? Does Congress care? Bueller?

Hotflash, didn’t we nominate Howie to our fantasy administration FEC chair position to lead implementing Public Financing of Elections?

Since Arizona has had “Clean Elections” since 1998 and it has been upheld in our state Supreme Court (kicking out a dirty Repug state rep) why can’t we get this type of ballot measure out there for the other states?

Yes, we did. Candidates need money, I suupose, but if we can keep it within limits and pd for by the people, then they won’t be such corporate tools. Is the hope.

I didn’t know that AZ had tax-financed elctions. Now that sounds like a great project and can be done at the state level — along with impeachment. Thank you for this info.
