Because this actually happens and because you are in the same position as the employer who has to pay for six weeks or more of jury duty. So, are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? Just askin’.

Employers should carry insurance to cover this possibility just like they carry insurance to cover employee injuries on the job. Of course those who can afford to self-insure should be allowed to do so.

I’ve just formed a whacked-out theory. What Judy’s trying to walk around is that Libby told her that Joe Wilson was attached to the State Dept. intelligence bureau.

One major reason for the consolidation of intellignce agencies and the creation of a Director of National Intelligence may have been a paranoid reaction to Wilson’s op-ed piece.

From what I recall, this was an original recommendation of the 9/11 Com. and was based on their evidence that our intelligence had most of the pieces of intel that might have predicted 9/11, but the information had not been shared across agencies so no one had a clear picture.

But I’m inclined to think that DNI is a nominal title only, given Negroponte’s oh-so-hectic schedule while serving in that role.

You can avoid speculation about Ambassador Wilson’s trip to Africa, before, during and after. Also, you find there his professional history in Africa and the mideast and with Iraq.

I could have done without the whole discussion on whether or whether not jurors should be paid by their employers — it just took up too much space and made it harder to read the important stuff.
