I like the graphic for this post, but IMHO the best tv viewer = sheep metaphor was done by the Android Sisters “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” It’s done in Flash and is worth the look.

Good for Obama. FoxNews is just a government-run, propaganda television show anyway.

Marion in Savannah @ 162

David Brooks and Bob Herbert in the NYT. Brooks gave me a real “WTF???” feel. I just wonder what brought his blithering on this time.

Regarding Bobo Brooks:

In short, the U.S. has taken its share of blows over the past few years, but the isolationist dog is not barking. The hegemon will change. The hegemon will do more negotiating. But the hegemon will live.

Remember The Manchurian Candidate? Sounds like code words to me.

“Frozen out” as in “he is cold”, or “freezing”. etc. What Obama is doing is reusing to talk to FOX as he should. The FOX folks have demonstrated a willful desire to spread falsehoods about Mr. Obama i order to achieve a political goal: The election of a Republican. It is that simple.
But I think the use of “frozen out” little more than the never ending trend amongst liberals to internalize Frank Luntze’s word smithing.
Try this: Just say NO! It a TROOP INCREASE, an ESCALATION, not a surge. Obama is REFUSING TO TALK TO FOX and he is doing so as FOX HAS A LONG HISTORY OF DISTORTING THE WORDS OF AND LYING about liberals. Obama is will to TALK TO NEWS and JOURNALISTIC institutions he is not willing to talk to PROPAGANDA OUTLETS and he is not freezing a damn thing.

the Obama camp has “frozen out” Fox News reporters and producers in the wake of the network’s major screw-up in running with the erroneous Obama-the-jihadist story reported by Insight magazine

Well, it’s about goddamn time. I’m so sick of people who refuse to fight back against these Nazi bastards I could puke.

I’m liking Obama more all the time.

                190

Also on CNN - it is a far more balanced station when one sees it abroad. Why is it that we can’t insist on the same thing here.

—Fair and balanced bill, fair and balanced bill, fair and balanced bill!

Thanks for confirming. I did some international traveling a year or so ago and thought I saw the same shift. Glad to know I wasn’t imagining things.

So, if they can afford to have TWO formats, if you will, why not consolidate to make it a more objective INTERNATIONAL news service instead of a self-serving political tool?

Oh wait, I forgot. This is the STATES. (sigh)

NPR — whatever. They give credence to Clarice Feldman, who insists that that the first world trade center bombing was planned by Iraqi agents and Fitzgerald was wrong for being the first justice official to indict Osama and throw the Blind Sheik in jail. And then Tom Pierce snarks on firedoglake. **Eye roll**

Sigh. No wonder we are in this mess in Iraq - this is your ‘liberal’ media at work. But remember, first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, and they they fight you, then you win.

Forgive my digression for a moment, but I have to speak up…

Let’s not forget who NPR’s chief “political correspondent” is … Juan Williams. That guy is FAR from an objective, thorough and insightful reporter. His so-called interview with GW after the SOTU was an insult to my intellect and a waste of my time. Actually, I haven’t appreciated much of Mr. Williams’ work at all. It’s almost as if he appears to be afraid of asking the tougher questions. To me, that’s one of the central purposes of BEING a journalist, i.e. to ASK those tough questions.

As for NPR’s coverage of live blogging, I’m not surprised by their comments. Once again, they’re probably trying to defend themselves without any real need. In this case, if they simply reported rather than denigrated, they could well have come up smelling like a rose.

Ah well.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but lately I seem to be seeing a lot less Faux news on public TVs. As an example, there are banks of televisions above the treadmills and elipticals at my gym Even a couple of months ago at least one of those would be tuned to Faux. The past couple weeks, just CNN, local news and Charmed on TNT. Anyone else noticing such a phenomenon?
