(especially Jamie and John who worked like dogs to keep FDL and C&L up last week under relentless DOS attack)

I’ve been wondering why the site’s been down so much — wasn’t sure whether you were under attack or straining under the load of increased readership for your trial coverage.

[Sorry about the possible duplicate comment — it doesn’t seem to be going thru from Opera.]

A full and speedy recovery to you. I am heartened by the supportive nature of your friends and well-wishers.

When you’re strong enough to handle it, check out the C-SPAN coverage of “The State of Conservatism” panel held by the National Review w/ Katherine Lopez, Kate O’Bierne, Mona Charon, Michelle Malkin and Lara Ingram that took place last night at some college.

The contest was neck and neck to see who was more clueless; the panelists or the audience. WARNING! Not for those with weak stomachs!

Best laugh line was from Mona Charon who seriously suggested that conservative comics start an all-out campaign to let people know (esp young people) just how cool and “with it” conservatives are.

BTW, if you’ve returned from your medical ordeal with any sort of special powers (2nd sight, sixth sense, the ability to wish people to the cornfield), please don’t hesitate to use them.

[…] So Dick’s boy means less than George’s Boy Genius in the White House. Will the trail lead back to Dick? And Jane Hamsher will be back to tell the tale. All of this actually could have been worse. Imagine f Scooter Libby’s trial took place before the election. Bush is lucky the war is going so badly it distracts from this. […]

Excellent news, Jane, all around.

One quibble - you don’t mention the nursing care that you received. Nurses aren’t just “staff” - as you refer to the general hired help. They are the professionals who cared for you before your surgery, who made sure that the surgeon was operating on your correct body part, who made sure that you were ready to have the surgery, who assessed you, who took care of making sure that you recovered from anesthesia, who made sure that you were safe to go home, who made sure that you understood what medications to take, how to take them, and assured that you indeed, could get them. They made sure that your follow-up healthcare appointments and services were in place. They made sure that your questions were answered, and that you have the resources to have future questions answered by someone who is qualified to do so. They made sure that you could change your dressing, or had someone else who could. They made sure that you were empowered to be safe.

Candy’s nice. Thank you’s sent to “staff” are nice. But Jane, do you even remember your nurses’ names? Aren’t they important enough to deserve to be known as people - and professionals?

I hope that this is disturbing enough to lure you andothers who recognized themselves to the Universal Health blog, where you can learn about the most important professionals you never knew.

Professional nursing, empowered patients. Good health.

Finally, a thread that hasn’t closed where I can express the good wishes I’ve had for you all this time, Jane. You’re looking fabulous–bask in all the well-deserved love for a bit, ’cause we need you back.
