Christy- hope you are still noting the “tells” from Libby, and others in the courtroom. Love to read it, but maybe you want to compile those notes to use later. Can’t give ‘em too many clues!

I don’t know; if Libby has a lot of “tells”, imagine all the contortions he’d go through trying not to make them during stressful moments… the effort involved in supressing one “tell” might trigger another and poor Scooter might be in low-level Brownian motion for hours on end…

Team Libby seems to have abandoned any attempt at an actual defense and dedicated itself to trashing the Bush Administration, Rove in partucular, and possibly the OVP itself. The obvious inference is that the Bushies refused to give Libby something he requested (e.g., a pre-trial pardon), he threatened retribution unless they came across, they maintained their refusal, and now the day (okay — the month and a half) of retribution is at hand.

[…] For comprehensive but less exhaustive coverage don’t miss the after-action reports that FDL regular Christy Hardin Smith writes late on each trial day. Although she’s now on the mommy track, in former lives Hardin Smith had criminal law experience as both prosecution and defense attorney. For those of you in catch-up mode, her first two summary posts are here (Tuesday, January 23) and here (Wednesday, January 24). […]

“Margin notes on the briefing slip for 6/14/03 (a Saturday briefing of Libby at his home): Libby complained about a story in the press about CIA analysts feeling bullied about his and VP Cheney’s visits to the CIA.”

Anyone know which story that might be?

I can honestly say that, stylistically, Wells’ courtroom demeanor — the sort of forceful, boistrous lawyering — just is not my favorite.

Sounds like the perfect lawyer to defend a republican, since that is their inherent style

“Now that Valerie Wilson’s name in press foreign intell in countries she worked have an opportunity to investigation all the people she worked with can be harrassed, lose their jobs, arrested, tortured, or killed.”

Pat @ 187

Clearly Joe Wilsons trip was completely worthless as a piece of intelligence data. If you knew anything about government, or intelligence, you would see what happened was the State Department agreed with the CIA to let Wilson go on the trip, but when he got in country, the Ambassador (Who is top dog) cut his nuts off and told him he couldn’t talk to anyone important.
That’s was a FU back to the CIA.

huh?

ummm

no, Joe’s trip was an unqualified success and vital information as far as the cia was concerned, he reinforced the data that they had, there was no uranium buy, none, and saddam’s “wmd program” no longer existed.

wilson saw everyone he needed to see to find what he needed to find out, what the vice president himself asked the cia to find out.

the big mistake the vice president made was he was too cryptic, he knew there was no wmd program but instead of saying “gind me something to justify our depraved desire for war in Iraq”, he tried to be a little cryotic saying “see what you can find out about a uranium buy”

the cia already knew there was none, but hey, the vice president asked for it so they provided exactly what the vp asked for

the ambasador found information that made clear any data concerning uranium buys were bogus

the administration knew these claims were bogus, the cia did it’s best to get the claims out of the sotu address, the president put it in there anyway

joe Wilson saw the administration was about to abuse the military forces of the united states of America, and Joe Wilson put his life, his repubtation, his security at risk to raise the alarm against the kabal.

and HERE we are today

Christy/Marcy: If Fitzgerald has been removed from his position as U.S. Attorney, could that not be a move to squash the investigation? When Comey announced Fitzgerald’s appointment he said there would be no separate budget for the special counsel. If they place a loyal Bushbot in as U.S. Attorney in Chicago, will Fitzgerald be able to get the resources he needs, AND, if he has lost his position there - is he getting paid anything at all since there was not a separate budget for special counsel? Without the US Attorney title to get the resources, material and labor, does this effectively hobble any attempt to continue this investigation? Link:

Q: Have you set a budget for Mr. Fitzgerald’s office? And — well, that’s it.

MR. COMEY: The answer is no.

Mr. Fitzgerald’s office has a budget, which he no doubt — as U.S. attorney — no doubt thinks is too small. And that’s what I meant when I said resources. If he needs people or money or chairs or sticky pads, he can come back to me or to Assistant Attorney General Ray and we’ll make sure that he gets it. I would expect that because he’s already in the Department of Justice, we already have a team in place, he’ll at least be able to draw on some, maybe all, of those resources and supplement them. He happens to run one of the best U.S. attorney’s offices in the country, and he has senior people with great experience in a host of issues that might be relevant. So I would expect he’d draw on those troops.

Q: So there won’t be a separate budget for this independent investigation?

MR. COMEY: No.

http://www.fas.org/irp/news/2003/12/doj123003.html
