It’s pretty sad when seeing the phrases “National Sanctity of Human Life Day” and “President Bush” together automatically triggers the “this-has-got-to-be-some-kind-of-joke” response, but that was exactly my reaction.

(BTW, I’m kind of a newbie here, but I heard about Jane Hamsher’s operation over at C&L and I’m glad to hear she seems to be doing well. :) Best wishes for a speedy recovery!)

CHICAGO - Chicago school teacher Colleen Pavelka knows how much her husband loves the Bears. Apparently, she loves him even more.

Colleen chose to have the birth of their second child induced a few days early so Mark Pavelka could attend Sunday’s NFC Championship showdown between the Bears and the New Orleans Saints.

Being a mother and a Bears fan, I personally, have no problem with it. I suspect she wanted to watch the game without interruption herself. It was nice of her to consider her husband in that decision.

geezus, that doesn’t sound quite right… from ICU to the streets? 32 hours after major surgery?

I’m amazed they let her stay that long. Have you checked your medical insurance lately? They try to cover almost EVERYTHING with a stay in the “23 Hour Unit,” which means you can stay overnight but you’re outta there before 24 hours are up because then the BIG charges really kick in… I’m sure W. will address this issue in the SOTU…. {listening… listening… hearing crickets far away…}
