A little-known provision in the Patriot Act reauthorization last year changed existing law so that if a vacancy occurs, the attorney general can appoint a replacement for an indefinite period of time.

Why is it that any time the Patriot Act is noted, it is always a “little-known provision in the Patriot Act?”

I’m glad that you’re doing that. I’m not sure that Miller is capable of feeling shame. It’s all just plunder gathering with him. Maybe the young people he has feel differently, but I suspect that they are all a bunch of Roves-in-training. Really, the national media needs to focus on Miller.

As much as anything, Martin Luther King was a pacifist, and an extraordinarily effective one at that.� We could use him today, but more importantly we can and must use his example.

King’s message resonates today precisely because without social justice for everyone, there is no justice, in fact, for anyone. We see the same conflicts generation after generation, issues in code–welfare, immigration, war, even terrorism.

Were he alive today, he would be the first to acknowledge that the contests are different, but the problem was still the same….
