Yes. If Cheney were to become President, he would pick his own VP.

When the VP slot went vacant after Agnew was convicted, Nixon chose his VP. Same-same in this instance.

When Ford became President after Nixon resigned, he picked Nelson Rockefeller to be VP.

Would it not be wise to demand the new House fast track Bush’s Impeachment as Fitz’ Libby trial unfolds and forces Bush’s resignation, thrusting Cheney to briefly occupy the Oval Office? Speaker Pelosi ascends to the VP office. The House promptly raises the Impeach Cheney flag for his treasonous outing of a classified CIA agent, forcing his resignation. President Pelosi restores dignity, honor and intelligence to the Oval Office and brings our kids home from war sooner than later.

First, Fitz will work to convict Libby. That’s the charge he’s set for himself. Anything else happening will be entirely accidental.

Second, Pelosi would not become VP if Bush were to resign/be impeached/stroke out. Cheney would become President and would pick his own VP. Pelosi would not become Prez unless both Bush and Cheney were to expire/become unavailable.

It may be hard cheese, but nobody’s going to seriously suggest an impeachment of either Bush or Cheney unless the bloody fuckin’ heavens cave in or there are hundreds of millions of torches and pitchforks descending upon Washington, DC.

Bush is, by virtue of heredity, one of the elite of Washington, and they don’t hang their own. Nixon was an outsider and perceived to be an overly-ambitious climber. They didn’t feel badly about pitching him in the trash. Clinton, well, to them, he was glorified trailer trash, so, it didn’t matter.

But, Bush is one of the holier-than-you-and-me bluebloods of the Puritan/Wall Street families. He’ll be protected. That’s why he won’t be impeached unless the situation gets so bad that the country’s business grinds to a standstill.

If there is a new VP, either due to resignatin of incumbent ot ‘workup’, I expect that the sitting pres appoints a new veep. Is Congressional confirmation required?

I really feel for that poor teacher, and unfortunately I am too well aware of what can happen when one is minimally aware of how to deal with the computer. Heavens, I have trouble all the time.

Once I was searching for some sites for exercise and OOPS up popped .. um… several sites (with pictures and video even) about a .. certain kind of ‘exercise’. The kind one should not do in public. Anyhooo, it took me forever to try to get rid of it, and until I got new spyware, I still got emails from that one mistaken ‘click.’ Remember, I did NOT ask for that type of …’exercise’… but it came up anyway.

I hope she gets a good appeal attorney. I think CT is going to be the new Minnesota. They tried to make MN red, and got the Gov. and Senator (after Wellstone died), but now we have the legislature back and Kennedy is gone. CT will learn their lesson too.

GranmaJ Epu’d, but hopeful you’ll see. CT legislature and CT is blue, blue, blue. It’s hard to explain why people voted for HoJoe and Rell. We are the land of steady habits, and tend to stuboornly look at incumbents as “trustworthy” figures. The state is often arse-backwards reluctant to adopt new things. Nanny-state should be out by now. But CT is still into it. On the plus side, I heard many libraries in CT bravely refuse to use nannyware, even with state offering them money, since it’s totally against the ethics of the profession. Education as you can see, is well explosively poltical even in the land of steady habits. Hope I could make excuses for explain that darn the state I live in.

They may disagree with the War and thus his poll numbers of tumbling, but the lost money, the abuse of soldiers, the tricks to keep their actions silent (i.e. closing White House visitor records) — they must all be investigated.

Get the media to spin against the facts, get the republicans to try an give an explanation for their actions — and take the case to the public. The public must be hind this action, or it will fail. As it did when Clinton’s poll numbers went UP during impeachment because people saw the abuse the republicans were using against him.
