For Lieberman and McCain, the big worry is that Bush will order too small a troop increase to make a difference. “Unless you believe all is lost, we’ve got to do everything we can to win,” Lieberman said.

Upon hearing of his colleague’s comments, Durbin sighed and shook his head. “Joe Lieberman said that?” he asked.

I regret the error. But no blogger should apologize for raising legitimate questions about AP’s transparency, its reliance on local foreign stringers of dubious origins, and information that sources such as Hussein have provided the AP.

Who do they think they are? Reporters in a war zone or something? It’s not as if there are established journalistic principles to rely on. There’s never been a war or war coverage before we, the right blogosphere got here, so if we don’t understand something, it must be the MSM up to their old tricks.

Some additional translation is required. “Dubious origins” == “Iraq”?

The phrase, “reliance on local foreign stringers of dubious origins” is worthy of further considertion. If legitimate news media organizations like AP are not [because MalKKKin says so] allowed to use “local foreign” sources of information, what would she rather they do–rely on stupid neocon fantasies made up by wingnut welfare babies who have never been anywhere near Iraq?

Of course, once she has actually been to Iraq *cough green zone cough*, her statements will be exponentially more reliable than those of people–including government officials–who actually live there…you know, those
“local foreign stringers of dubious origins”…so the criteria for reliability will have changed: you must not be a local person in Iraq, but you must have popped into the country briefly for a Magical Mystery Tour, which makes you more reliable than anyone who has never been there [why else would she go?]as well as anyone who has always been there.

It will be interesting to see how much “truth” MalKKKin can learn in Iraq about what is “really” going on in Iraq from people who are not “local.” Presumably, whatever line the U.S. military chooses to feed her–but she could have (and presumably has) gotten that without ever having to leave home.

So will somebody explain to me again just why she is going?

I think it’s a great idea that she’s going to Iraq. I think it’s even a greater idea to have ALL the rightwing bloggers go to Iraq to check things out. Maybe…just maybe…the herd will get thinned out! At a minimum, they (the rightwingers) can see all the “good stuff” in Iraq face-to-face. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!

Did you hear the guy call in who wanted to just send in 500,000 more troops & get the job done? With this kind of disconnect/stupidity/brain death, is there any wonder the US is in the condition it is in? Much as I love the WJ (only b/c it’s the best of the worst – KO the exception), there are a lot of days when many of the callers just scare the livin’ spit outta me!
