MoveOn's Tom Mazzie has a couple thoughts on the Surge Sisters (thanks to Politics TV), and I enjoyed watching folks take to the streets to protest the McCain/Lieberman appearance on behalf of the McCain/Lieberman war in front of the AEI. Maura has a few choice words too.
Joe is representing the Republicans who got him elected extremely well, I'd venture to say.

FITZ!
Whoa! First?
Look Liebermann is deranged just like Bush. Grab the Anvil of Iraq Joe! Clutch it to your chest and we’ll watch the trail of bubbles stream from you lying, foul pie-hole as you sink to the bottom.
Thanks to the NutBall State we have this idiot to kick around, and we surely will, for a few more years yet.
My contempt for Joe Lieberman will burn as brightly as a thousand suns for as long as I shall live.
Wow. I just watched the clip. The man is incomprehensible. What a meaningless mishmash of historical references. Does he really think he was saying anything of substance? Sheesh!
compare RG joe’s prediction of troop drawdowns by the end of last year with his warmongering at AIE today!
Thanks CT
LieberFuckHead is ‘The Last Honest Man’ so please…
show some respect for the drooling inanities he pukes up for the Corporate Media. Joe, serious person that he is, is deserving of our attention and respect.
Not!
Say…
Do you think the good citizens of the NutBall State could be persuaded to recall this embarassing AssClown?
Nice to see Wonkette practising her journalism with a couple of codgers, there

This f’er mentions fascism in the 30’s. And the failure to realize what was happening in the ramp up to WWII. What the hell does he think we’ve got here in America? Budding fascism Lieberman. And you’re a big part of it.

You can feel the luv…feel the respect Joey the Liarmann must have for ‘Dumbya.’ They are two peas in a pod.
Pig ignorant…
Pig headed…
And no more capable of making a coherent statement about anything whatsoever than a chimpanzee.
Unless of course they are telling a lie.
That is something they both do flawlessly.
Must be all the practice. Although…
Maybe it’s genetic.
But wait, John and Joe DO have a plan for bringing the troops home. “Box ‘em up and ship ‘em, and no photos please”.
The AEI logo is vaguely Arabic, no? just noting.

I watched half of that presser at the AEI. Boo Radley McCain and Lieberturd looked tight lipped and whitefaced.
McCain was carping about how Joe Lieberman’s relection was proof that the people want more war. Of course Lieberturd ran on a platform of ending the war.
What a mess, what a couple of saggy jowled, pasty assed losers.

Ron Christie on “Hardball”. This guy really offends my sensibilities.
Pardon me, Ms. Hamsher, but don’t you mean NEOCONS?
We wouldn’t confuse honest, hard-working, fiscally-responsible REAL Republicans with the Neocon excrement that made it possible for this steaming pile to be re-elected.
After all, LIEberman himself claims to be a “Democrat” and we know all too well what a load ‘o crap THAT is.
Lieberman’s 1942 reference means?
We’ve just had our ass kicked?
We’ve recently broken their codes?
Nowhere to go from here but up?
New weapons are coming soon which will turn the tide?
The world looks up toward us as a beacon of hope?
Our military is going to expand five-fold?
All those things were happening in 1942. How many similar dynamics are in play now?
He was speaking Joebberish.

Rajiv Chandrasakaran on Hardball now. I really like this guy. So smart.
Ah who can forget those days when Lieberman and I and Ernest Hemingway were downing shots of arack in Madrid, dodging the fascist bullets. “Say, Senator.”, Ernie asked, “Aren’t you on the other side?”. “Nonsense Ernie”, the Senator responsed, wryly, “for there are trots and secret police on this side too and none think of the vast profits for the insurance industry.” Hitchens staggered in with Orwell’s P.O.U.M. hat on, and …
There are parallels between the 30’s and the present, but Lieberman gets it backwards. There were populist movements which fascism was developed to crush with the support of a number of prominent americans, of course.
There is now a populist movement in Arab/muslim countries which our elites would like to crush by reasserting some form of authoritarian control. The form of control which has the best chance of succeeding is fundamentalist Islam, now that we have eliminated secular nationalism as a viable option. So we support that and then pretend that we’re fighting Islamism or “Islamofascism.”
See history of Israel/Palestine and Hamas for a fully developed example of this mendacious policy.

that’s exactly the rovian trick of the republicans
take your biggest liability and call your oponents that liablity so when it’s invoked against you it looses it’s power.
they are fascists and the movement of bush’s policies clearly associate themselves with those of hitler, from corporatizing public service, to eliminating rights, imprisoning people without any reason to justifying torture
they claim they are stopping a hitler march when they are the hitler march
Hardball Mathews helped get Bush installed in 2000 and he helped him get selected in 2004. Though his current campaign against the war will be helpful, Mathews can never be forgiven. Neither can Don Imus for the same reason.
Nor can Gerald Ford for pardoning Nixon. This act showed that some men are above the law. Dubya and Cheney and Rummy and Condi all believe that they are members of this special club – Above the Law.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 59
The metaphor I’d have chosen is “playing musical chairs”. BTW, looks like Gen. Casey is the one left standing this round. To use Josh Marshall’s apt phrase, they’re kicking him upstairs. While it sounds like a promotion, since the Goldwater-Nichols Act being Army Chief of Staff isn’t the plum assignment it once was.
The Republicans in CT elected Lieberman, but even they are not where Joe is anymore. McConnell’s remarks emerging from the WH meeting today signal that the Republican Party has now left Joe, just as the Democratic Party did last year. Lieberman is hanging out there all by himself, and can’t even call on McCain’s aura of intellectual consistency (unearned, but it’s there).
So if Joe thought he’d be the powerful swing vote between the Dems and Repubs, he guessed wrong. He’s become a clown to both sides. And the sad irony is that both parties are now coming to where Lamont was.
AP – Iraqi forces backed by U.S. troops will begin a neighborhood-by-neighborhood assault on militants in the capital this weekend as a first step in the new White House strategy to contain Sunni insurgents and Shiite death squads, key advisers to the prime minister said Friday.

Jacqrat @19, I’m afraid Lieberman is indeed representing his constituency.
I stood for 7 hours in front the Meriden town hall on election day watching prim, prosperous, mostly congenial Republicans shuffle to the polls to vote straight Republican except for deliberately seeking out Joe on the ballot.
They sought him out, and so they still have him, and each flip of the CfL lever spilled another drop of blood.
Upshot: You don’t have to be a neocon to be a zombie.
Cujo359 @ 74

I imagine that after the election Lieberman and his staff let out a sigh of relief and thanked the stars that they wouldn’t have to deal with those pesky bloggers again for the next five years or so.
Yet, since the election, the progressive blogosphere has been generating a torrent of in-depth, razor sharp coverage of each of Lieberman’s latest misdeeds.
Lieberman won the election, but he also earned himself a world of pain – six years in office, six years in the public eye, as his charade of competence on foreign policy disintegrates along with the situation in Iraq.

It deserved repeating!! Just seeing Lieberman raises a silent scream in my throat – If It is released, I am afraid it will just go on and on, escalating to an uncontrollable wail. This disloyal POS goes around trying to make virtue of his shortcomings to a degree that gives hypocrisy a bad name. He is hard, self serving and traitorous. There are not enough negative adjectives to describe what a vile piece of political puke is the little man with the vanity bouffant hairdo that is Joe Lieberman.
Everyone is SO disrespectful to Lieberman and almost all members of Congress.

May I just ask: what do these two despotic rethuglicans bring to the table of humanity and America? To my mind, they are losers in every sense of the word, though they continue to win elections while lying to this self-absorbed, brainwashed and ignorant populace that is ours– those that are “too busy” to seek out the truth and still vote against their interests! Good grief, what will it take?

[AEI on in background. Heading for remote.]
Jen and Barbara evidently want nothing to do with the military, but doesn’t Lieberman have a loud-mouthed, belligerent son who could be offered to the war effort?
There’s a continuing right wing meme that liberals suffer from faulty thought processes; “Looney Left” is the way right wing media gasbags like to put it.
There’s a grain of truth to it – some liberals do succumb, and the clearest sign of declining mental faculties is when they start spouting right wing talking points. It’s not pretty, and the video of Lieberman is a textbook example.
Liebrmann

aipac
It’s all well and good to joke about pathetic Joe, but just because the dems have taken over congress does not mean that the aipac agenda is any less on track. That agenda involves conflation of the ME, particularly Iran, with the halocaust. And it is energetically pushing for any excuse to attack Iran. And dems are equally as on board with the aipac line as thugs.
Now is not the time to get all fuzzy.
