Ta-daaaaaaaaaah!!
Ladies and gentlemen, my first successful digital photograph, and of course, it's of Juan Carlos. Can you imagine how hard it is to leave this little face and go to work every day?
Sorry about the red-eye. I haven't gotten that far in the manual yet.
I'll keep you posted, of course.

TREX!
Redeye should be one of the options with the flash, at least it has been for my last two cameras.
What did you get?
Bought a Cannon A700 before my trip to Alaska… Great pictures!
A pack of Marlboros?
Man, quit that habit. Make it a New Year’s Resolution.
Your cat may just be a little heavier than mine. That is a big cat. And, a marlboro smoker.
Kimster @ 3
I’m just holding them for a friend, Mom, I swear!

13 pounds. He’s my little Siamese pear.
Awwww Thats a Cute Kitty TRex! & a Great photo!
“nice kitty”
Little cat? Not so much, honey. He a beeg boy. And beautiful. Love me some Siamese, too.
The 20 lb-er we adopted in August spends most of his time outdoors, on our 1 1/2 acres, chasing moles and gophers, mice and lizards (good kitty) and birds (bad kitty) but he has a bell so he rarely gets the birds (good kitty). He’s also lost about 4 lbs and is looking kinda trim.
I miss my kitties. Won’t see them ’til at least New Years Day, longer if the storm closes Denver again.
Well, my nickname for my cat is saddlebags. Her belly extends out on both sides and it rocks back and forth when she is forced to run. And I swear I do not overfeed her. I just weighed her in the kitchen-16 plus one pound. My seven key is not working….
J.C. looks just like my departed Sneaky-cat. Siamese also. Funny that.
Nice kitty. Almost as nice as mine, but of course i’m prejudiced! Along with the anti red-eye feature, you can try cropping so the world doesn’t find out you’re addicted to Marlboros, Evian and Advil (too late now, i suppose, your secret’s out — but it’s safe with us, we’re family). But more importantly, of course, you’d crop to feature the baby and get rid of extraneous objects that distract from his cuteness.
My two favorite things..cats and Marlboro Reds..I’ll have a smoking dream tonight.
Awwww — what a cutie-patootie kitty!

Neo-con on msnbc sorry didn’t get name, it’s the show on at 6pm, talks about how a war with IRAN would begin. Tucker’s show, but Pat Buchanan is interviewing this guy.
Our carriers are over there, and if they decide to hit our ships with an anti-ship missile, [OR IF WE STRIKE OUR OWN SHIPS] then we “can do what we want to do” with them.
These people WANT WAR. This is so evil I can hardly type it.

When I was a teen, we used to go to Rehobeth Beach for a few weeks each summer. There were three families who shared a house and we older kids were allowed to spend some time without parents on the boardwalk.
My parents in particular were always late to meet us at the designated spot, so my girlfriend and I came up with a sure-fire way to make them show up on time – we lit our (forbidden)ciggies and sure enough, they’d show up! Little brothers make good lookouts.
cliffradz @ 12
The computer must be just out of the frame. Those sound like someone’s essential blogging supplies.
Does he get the ‘crazies’ every so often and race across the room (house, yard)?
Mine’s only a ten-pound cat (except when she’s on a lap), but her daughter’s fifteen pounds. And neither one is fat.
ccmask @ 10
How many times a day do you feed her? So many people do overfeed, in the name of love. I feed my cat and dogs once a day, plus OCCASIONAL treats. I read a book that said in nature, they’re lucky to catch a mouse a day; it’s not like they have a bowl of mouse bits to eat at their leisure all day. So it makes sense to feed 1x/day, approximating nature.
Siamese are like a drug. And I am addicted to mine. My little one is a raving beauty queen. And she knows it. And she’s quite politically hip.
Ding ding ding ding!!
You are correct!
The coffee cup and the computer are just out of frame.
TRex — Amazing how much info this photo conveys. Besides the spoiled regalness that is JC, of course.
Wanted to thank you for helping swap out some imagery that has long bothered me. Have been an Annie Lennox fan since whenever, but her appearance always had a nasty correlation with the spouse’s ex in my mind, ex having a vague resemblance (and absolutely NONE of the talent) to Lennox.
Been jamming all day to my new Eurythmic CD, and I can only visualize a gay man with strawberry blonde hair and a brush cut with horn rims singing along. The ex is PURGED!!! Yay!!! Thank you!!!

I have a 19 year old female Siamese – Sprinkles. Almost deaf, bossy, loud, affectionate beyond belief. Runs the house, and the love of my life. Damn cats.
I bought a Cannon A700 about 6 months ago. I love being able to force the ISO to 80 for low light pictures and lettting it do a long exposure. As long as nothing is moving, you get good low light shots without the grain of the high ISO.
Fill flash is pretty good on that camera too. And smart auto white balance.
I only wish it had some image stabilization for the 6X zoom.
My neighbor calls him Senor Silky Loco.
Psycho Kitty, qu’est-ce que c’est?
Fa fa fa fa fa, fa fa fa fa fa, yeah.
Run run run, run run awaaaaaaaaay

realisant mon histoire…
My camera is a FUJI FinePix f700. Does that mean anything?
p.s. I use Paint to crop photos, and then Irfanview to tweak color, detail, contrast, etc.
Have been trying Gimp, but I really need a lot more time to get familiar with it. Edited a pic of Rahm using Carville as a sockpuppet with it, but it took me forever to do it.
Sue at 24 — thanks for the reminder on the documentary — and the recommend is already in the bank for Scarce. :)
My Siamese loves to be squeezed while she eats.

He’s the snuggliest most affectionate most purrin’-est, kissin’-est kitty ever.
Mt. Hood is stunningly beautiful out my office window right now. Go look if you are within eyeshot.
TRex,
I love your posts. Like others I have to say that you need to say bye bye to the ciggies, as I did two decades ago.
I also have to say this because I am a cancer researcher currently in fear of my job thanks to the Bush Admins. cuts in NIH funding.
You want bliss? Stop smoking and get a “mutt” kitten. Marlboros and Siamese cats (though I’m sure yours are wonderful) are not the best things in life.

“What should this policy be called? Most people have forgotten that Bush Jr came to power in 2001 preaching a “new realism”, in contrast to what he pilloried as the unfocused, liberal idealist interventionism of the Clinton years. However, after the 9/11 attacks and especially in his second term, he came to advocate a breathtakingly idealist policy of global democratisation. The American political writer Robert Kagan described Bush’s new approach as a “higher realism”. So that was the new new realism. Now we have the new new new realism, or new3 realism. If new2 realism had an unrealistically large admixture of idealism, believing that democracy would spread across the Middle East as it had across eastern Europe after 1989, new3 realism risks swinging back to the opposite extreme, making the old mistake of believing that a durable order can be built on friendly autocracies. So let us indeed have a reality-based international community in 2007, but let’s not have too much realism. In the long run, nothing could be less realistic.”

I am a feline freak.
I have a 17lb heathcliff tabby that goes by the name of Nixon.

Aww, man! Now I *really* miss our kitties. Good thing we’re almost home.
Cats.
I Have one. Named it Baby.
( I have a long history of naming my cats names you don’t call in polite company)
It’s a young’n, maybe 3-4 months.
Very affectionate, VERY hard headed.
It knows better than to , say, get in the garbage, or on the counters. Doesn’t matter, does it anyway. As soon as I see her doing it, WHOOSH!, she’s gone.
Have gotten to the point of calling it ” You Little M*therF*cker” for its escapades.
Still, she’s a sweetie and I can’t stay mad for long.
After my 15-year-old kitty died, I got a kitten to fill the hole for my then 14-year-old boycat & me. New kitty turned out to be a total daddy’s girl who delights in WALKING OVER me to get to pappa. Even though that route takes longer. Love her to pieces, though.

Hey TRex…
Is it your cat that matches the furniture or the furniture that matches your cat?
Double plus good to see kitty pics on FDL, thanks TRex, he’s a big boy!(though not quite as big as my chubby 21 pounder).

MB – my shepards pie has no special spicing … mashed potatoes, peas (not corn like in NH!!!) and ground beef in a relatively thick gravy with lots of sauteed onions and mushrooms, lots of ground pepper and you’re good to go!
Mommybrain are you doing beef or leftover turkey?
Christy – beef
Siun – thanks.
WOW. Juan is a big boned cat. I have never seen a Siamese that big before. Beautiful cat.
leftover beef
omg catblogging on fdl.
what’s the world coming to?
Turkey shepards pie???? really?
I think that’s sacriligeous!
Brings back memories; used to have a female Siamese. She was a one-person cat (more like a dark chocolate football with an attitude), went exclusively to my ex-boyfriend and would give me the cold shoulder. Payback was her son, though; he was mine, all mine, a lovely silverpoint who was warm, friendly, playful, generous.
Too bad I had to give up all three of them for my health…
I don’t give f’k about Saddam. But one thing I do care about is justice. And this guy was tried in a kangaroo court and his hanging is a lynching. The character should have been tried in the Hague. Bringing Democracy to the Middle East, George, and to the world? Yeah right.
Somebody below says “new thread.”
I’m sitting here with a dark-colored Siamese cat in my lap.
I hit the refresh button, and there is what could be a picture of the cat in my lap.
The resemblence is remarkable.
“Payback” – that’s a good name for a cat, Rayne…

cliffradz@20: Sorry it took so long to answer but I had a long distance call. I put out one of them feeders–one with water and one with food. I have two cats indoor and they actually eat less this way. Before she ate everything in one feeding but since they can dine all day I’m using 1/3 less food. She is just a big cat.
O/T — I’ve been out of the loop today in terms of monitoring the talking heads & the tubez. But I have the impression that Edwards’ announcement today didn’t generate much heat or draw much attention from the MSM.

Since this seems to be a common phenomena among cat lovers/owners, my question is actually genuine. Which came first, the furniture or the kitty cat?
Seriously… Do cat owner/lovers subconsciously buy furniture that matches their cats? Or do they pick out their new kitty by how well the furry angel would go with the Ikea collection?
And… By extension, do the answers to the above questions make a cat sort of an ‘Interactive’ piece of the overall home design them?
Cats and my sinus don’t get along so I’ve never owned one really. Always thought they were nice to look at the whole purring thing always gets me but I’ve never had a ‘relationship’ with a cat the way I see others having. So I’m genuinely curious. :)
mrsmarks @ 73
Tweety called it “the three ring circus” in both parties: Hill, Barack, Edwards and Rudy, Mitt, and the OldOne.
bg @ 95
That would work. If not, perhaps Edwards for AG. Gore-Clark would be good. And of course Gore-Feingold would be fine.
Nate @
96
hey, Nate…in our case, the furniture pre-dates the cat. the match is just a coincidence….I think.
Oklahoma kiddo @ 98
any of the above.
Where’s angie?
Nate – I’ve always had more dogs than cats, so I haven’t had the opportunity to match my furniture to my cat… I do know that when I purchase furniture or clothing to go with my dogs that everything must be dog-colored or dirt-colored… saves a LOT of hassle!
In regard to the
chicken/eggfurniture/cats issue. In my experience, the cats “modify” the furniture to suit themselves. Pretty much, the furniture has to “go along” to “get along.”Siamese cats are the best! You shouldn’t let him smoke, though.
The only thing I have against Gore is his last VP nominee. I hope he runs but don’t think it’s something we should count on.
Shouldn’t Dems give the other candidates consideration? Aside from the HiloBamas we need voices now. Kucinich and Edwards are saying a lot of sensible progressive things and they deserve support, at least for now, imo.
awright! where’s my 50 cents? Kos is sayin’ Bush is NOT attending Ford’s funeral.
there’s a man who can hold a grudge!
Spectacular sunset tonight Mid Oregon Coast!
Personally after listening to Edwards on the college tour hardball where he was very critical about being the VP running mate. How he felt he could not be himself or campaign on his issues but boost up the Prez Candidate.
Funniest T-Rex post, ever. Was he even trying?
OldCoastie @ 106
I think he just cannot be anywhere nearby Poppy, and Poppy’s sure to be at that funeral.
I voted for the Gore-Lieberman ticket. But if then was now? No way. Shoot… I’d rather have that NY, so-called Demo Senator, than Lieberman.

heh, actually hahaha.

Punaise, our new kitty (four months now) is the same color as yours. We haven’t gotten around to shopping for matching furniture, yet. Our sofa is a burnt orange…hmmm, kitty flambee? But I kid…
OK, christy, here’s what I ended up putting in the pie:
Beurre blanc sauce, to which is added chicken broth (no beef avail, it’s snowing so no store trips), some A1 marinade in lieu of worcestershire and a package of Knorr pot roast seasoning. Thyme, nutmeg, peas, carrots, onions.Daddybrain made fabuloso mashed and it’s going to be good.
Thanks.

Check out Tahoe
Not from today but still …
BTW luv Oregon and Washington too
too cute, twolf!
Love the cat. Takes me back years to Nemo – a look alike to JC. Thanks for the memories I hadn’t thought of him in years. I agree with Old Coastie – have had more dogs than cats for over 30 years and the furniture must be dirt colored. The sign on the back door says “This house is maintained for the care and comfort of my dogs. If you can’t accept that then you can’t accept me so go away.
Pade – good thing taupe is a popular color these days!

Oh twolf, I love them kitties!! Reminds me of a cat I had a long time ago. How in the world do you tell them apart? Collars?

One’s grey and the other is black. The black one also has a little spot on his nose. In the dark, I can tell them apart by the feel of their fur :)
The vertical photo was in the Cats 24/7 book. Their appearance won them a year supply of Purina, a jump drive and a copy of Photoshop Elements. Their stardom has gone to their heads though and the free chow is over Dec 31st so it’s time for them to go out and get jobs.
Mange said Vice President Dick Cheney’s motorcade was delayed leaving the ranch while officers removed the protesters.
All these kitty pics make me think that eventually I’ll have to go back to taking antihistamines round the clock so I can have kitties again. twolf, your cats are so cute.
Pade @ 120
oh, hell, SEVEN??! hope they are small!
I thought I’d gone overboard with 2 big ones…
I must have been color blind for a minute–they both looked black. They are really nice.
TRex! Except for the cigarettes on the table–I smoked menthol–that could have been my apartment X number of years ago. Bookcase stuffed with books. Overstuffed chair. Sealpoint Siamese cat giving me that “You lookin’ at me?” look.
Not much has changed, I guess. Still plenty of book-stuffed bookcases and a comfortable chair. I gave up smoking a long time ago, and the cat would be an Abyssinian now. But back in the day, I did adore the Siamese. Those blue eyes are unmatched anywhere in catdom. And they have terrrific personalities.
But so do Abycats. And they don’t do the Siamese yowl, which kept me awake for more nights than I care to remember. I hope Juan Carlos isn’t as loud as the late and much lamented Phaedra, Dante, and Giles.
OldCoastie – Currently six wire dachshunds and one Airedale on the bed, one Airedale on the couch, and one wire visiting friends. There are also five six week old wire pups in the kennel. They are great company and we live in the woods. How is your young one doing?

Just dropping by – and there’s TRex’s JuanCarlos!
Okay, now I’m motivated to figure out how to use my digital camera (2ndhand present) and then how to upload, so y’all can see my feline beauties.
No way to match furniture to the kitties – they are black, gray-white (lots of Siamese in that one), orange, tortoiseshell, calico, and white-and-orange. The all-white one passed on last spring. Of course, they are all beautiful and sweet-as-pie (except when they’re pains-in-the-butt).
Thanks TRex! Good job.

Dear Dogs and Cats,
When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way.
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically
pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs and cats sleeping. they can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but sarcasm.
Ohhh, and my compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine meow, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using the bathroom for years–canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dogs or cats’ ass. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.
I rubbed the lotion on my skin for a REASON! Not as an after-dinner snack for you. The newspaper spread on the floor is called accident paper… NOT habit paper! Also, I do not need your help driving the car, never mind what you saw on television!
To pacify you I have posted the following message on our front door…..
Rules for Non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets:
1. They live here. You don’t.
2. If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
3. I like my pet better than I like most people.
4. To you it’s an animal. To me he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy walks on all fours and doesn’t speak clearly.
Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don’t ask for money all the time, are easier to train. Usually come when called, never drive your car, don’t hang out with drug using friends, don’t drink or smoke, don’t worry about buying the latest fashions, don’t wear your clothes, don’t need a gazillion dollars for college, and if they get pregnant, you can sell the results.
Sincerely,
Your Owner

Good point about RGJoe — didn’t we learn from the current pResident that picking talent is a big part of the job? I hold Gore’s veep choice against him as well. I’d like to see Al Gore have a very important role in the Edwards Administration — maybe an inconvenient one for the oil companies and polluters?
“It shows how much Bush’s control over the media is slipping. If Karl Rove was on top of his game, they’d whack him during the State of the Union, and Faux News would run a split-screen with the speech on one side and the hanging on the other.”

From what Frances Townsend (Bush’s wife for Homeland Security) told the Situation Room Substitutes today, the US still has custody of Saddam. While the timing of the hanging is up to the Iraqis, we’ll have to turn him over before he can swing. So, why would we turn him over when we’re mourning (endlessly!) a dead President? Maybe because the dead President dissed W to Woody?

everyone kept asking what they were looking at… I coulda said, “it’s their undying love!”, but since I’m standing there with a giant handful of turkey… they are funny, but really really BIG…

Me, I’m cat crazy. All the best in the New Year TRex from GHenry and purr-meow from Elvis, my 11-yr. old, 15 pounder, orange tabby.
What beauty! Awwwww.
I had to laugh at your posts about scooping boxes. It’s now time for me to do the same, times 3!
