Burton is an embarrassment. I’m from Indiana and Burton is the worst of our pathetic Republican group. Buyer and Pence are a joke, Lugar is a has-been who never was, but Burton is a pretender, just like the shrub. He’s “more holy than thou”, only, just like the shrub, he isn’t even close to being holy.
Burton is merely collecting a paycheck and was acting as a rubber stamp. He has never achieved anything in Congress and never will. The next two years will be a pathetic waste when it comes to the $$ and space taken by Dan Burton.

I read that also CatelynK.

From NYTimes:

The termination language was inserted into the bill by Congressional staff members working for Duncan Hunter, the California Republican who is the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and who declared on Monday that he plans to run for president in 2008.

I moved OUT of Burton’s district but don’t hold things against him he didn’t do.

Is there a link anywhere linking Burton to the termination clause?

Jane Hamsher @ 49

It was also Dan Burton who inserted the language in the middle of the night ending the term of the Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (Russ Feingold just got it nixed and the IG’s office won’t close). He’s a poster boy for GOP corruption from the get.

Huh? I thought the IGIR hit guy was our Left Coast poster boy for GOP idiocy, Duncan Hunter.
To be specific, congressional staffers sent in by him to do the dirty work. Dunce Hunter was busy crafting his presidential exploratory committee speech.

Burton is bottom-of-the-barrel slime, but Hunter’s sinking (and slinking) fast.

I once had this verse on a plaque on my wall. I would take a longing look at the words before I would proceed to take down a crooked, drugged up judge, or slime ball politician who fell in love with crack and or pussy.

As an ode to Henry Waxman, the words on the plaque say it all “When you’ve got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.”

Just read this interview in Grist with John Dingell. What does anyone think? Is he going to do anything to help make a change with auto standards? http://www.grist.org/news/main.....urce=daily

Sorry for the jargon :p If there’s one thing I hate, it’s official corruption. The problem is, figuring out how to communicate this stuff to the rest of the world, and have them get just as angry as we are about it.

Christy Hardin Smith @ 87

You know, the audit process discussion is fascinating. So great that we have folks with the financial background on here to be able to talk shop. Love it.

So in this case, is a statement of custodial activity part of the financial statement notes or does it appear elsewhere in the financial statements?

Been a long time for me too.. but it’s a separate statement.. like a Statement of Cashflows or Shares.. it has its own notes, typically.

Christy - perhaps the time is soon approaching for a forthcoming Pull Up a Chair session in which, as many of us did about this time last year, we can become better acquainted with one another by mentioning our occupations, our interests, and anything else about ourselves that might be of interest.

Hi, SP,CPA. Haven’t seen you much lately.
Christy, I would like to second that notion. We have so many talented folks here with expertise in any number of areas. When the election gets a little closer, we may be able to put together research project teams based on folks’ strengths and interests.
