what I wrote to David Ignatius today:

First let me say that if Bush is experiencing “painful” moments when he reads about the deaths in Iraq, — GOOD. and IT’S ABOUT TIME.

He ought to be experiencing more than a little pain. He oughtn’t to be walking around with his head held high. He ought to be gray haired, wrinkled brow, and sleepless. He ought to be impeached. He and his “strong” administration lied to every man, woman and child in this hemisphere about war, about empire, about compassion, about recovery. They should all be hanging in the Hague.

“Bush is not a man for introspection. That’s part of his flinty personality — the tight, clipped answers and the forced jocularity of the nicknames he gives to reporters and White House aides. That’s why this version of reality TV is so poignant:”

There is nothing poignant about Bush and his aging whilst on the job. Every president ages on the job. Every one ages in 8 years. The only alternative to aging is death. He’s not dead; he’s the President. And his personality isn’t “flinty”. It is grating and is indicative of a spoiled, narcissistic, bratty, frat boy. He’s been bailed out of every mess he has made. He just isn’t smart enough to know this is another mess. Only this mess is one he’s gotten the entire US into. He doesn’t care about others. He doesn’t care about democracy. He doesn’t give a rat’s tail about the effects his blunders have on anyone. He isn’t missing sleep; he isn’t missing meals; he isn’t losing loved ones to this war. His daughters are partying in one foreign country after another. He goads people who do have children in the military and in Iraq in particular. He does nothing for the common good.

I don’t know what president you are watching. Put your glasses on and watch the one you - not I - elected.”

Regarding the Ignatius “Pity Party” for W:

As the Fighting 110th Congress rams ashore, be sure that the Gang of 500 will be oh-so-sorry for the Liar in Chief and the vicious onslaught that is to come. They will continue to coddle him and jab ludicrous iceballs at Pelosi, Reid and Co for their furious “partisan” attacks.
Only Democrats get accused of being partisan when they are merely pointing out the truth. This will require serious pushback from our side so let’s be ready.

Let’s keep reminding the lame ass DC press corpse that all of the misdeeds and screwups were HIS responsibility. If he wasn’t prepared for that responsibility or its accountability then he should RESIGN!

The Broderellas of the world will be doing some serious pearl-clutching over the next 6 months. I can hear them swoon already-as far as I’m concerned, Ignatius just did.

Oh, and it won’t be long until Ad Nags weighs in with some lame analysis about Dem ineffectiveness regarding investigations. I’m sure it will have nothing to do with administration stonewalling, however.

LET THE HEARINGS BEGIN!!!

I try not to get too worked up about everything. It’s just one tiny planet in a huge Universe. It’s only a matter of life and death, that’s all. So, no big deal, really. Nothing a fifth a’ scotch and a dime bag a’ smack can’t handle.

Cujo359 @ 133

Oklahoma kiddo @ 95

Well this I believe was the case. But President Carter I think does well in his newest book. ;)

Cujo359 @ 98

That was thirty years ago. A lot has changed since then. Israel is no longer the little country surrounded by hostile neighbors. It’s become a country that is victimizing its neighbors so it can have the illusion of safety.

Ed*ard Teller @ 104

Now Carter is being pilloried by backing out of a speech invitation at Brandeis. After he tentatively accepted the engagement (including a Q/A session), the invitation committee changed the appearance into a debate between Carter and Alan Dershowitz about Carter’s new book.

I’m not sure why the greatest living American president being dissed for somehow not wanting to be in the same room with OJ Simpson’s favorite living attorney. Maybe Jimmy Carter thought it best not to try on that particular glove. In the environment at Brandeis, the glove might not fit

Alice @ 116

Good for Carter
now we need to ask Brandies if they endorse torture

While we’re at it, we should ask them if they think bait-and-switch is a good trick to play on a former President.

neurophius @ 118

Carter should offer to debate any living current or former president on Middle East policy.

Dershowitz doesn’t deserve to be on the same stage with him.

Besides, being in your eighties after having had three different careers should mean you don’t have to put up with small time crap.

hear, hear!

Where’s Gore?

I went to one of the showings of An Inconvenient Truth on the 16th. There was a conference call with Al Gore afterwards. He certainly sounded sincere about not running in 2008 as well as pretty certain he wouldn’t be.

Can’t really blame him, either. Like he’s going to get a fair shot from the media this time around? SUUUUUURE he is.

Al might not be the most spontaneous person on the planet, but he’s no dummy.
