I can sympathize with her to a certain degree. Your adopted daughter has a father. You. It’s the total absence of one that can make you angry and confused.

David and Marion, I see your points and agree. But if I may play Point-Counterpoint again, I wonder if this young woman tries to understand her Mother’s point of view; to understand the situation that she was in when she chose to bring her daughter into the world knowing that she would have to provide all of the love that a family can bring. Or is she bitter with her Mother for doing it?

It could just as easily been a fly-by-night, no-good, uncaring Dad that bailed after the first positive pregnancy test. Would her feelings be different then? Would Mom still have been the target of her disdain?

I hope this young woman can get past this and learn to be happy that she is alive and healthy regardless of how it happened.

Why do you say that, Balrog?

Struck me as self pitying, lash out at the world, I’m so miserable because of someone elses choices whining.

I have a 15 year old adopted daughter who doesn’t know who her biological mother and father are but she regularly reflects on how lucky she is to have me as her Dad.

Change what you can, accept what you can’t.

She’s lucky to have you. I was raised by an only parent and was introduced to my father at age 14 by a summer camp counselor, with the State Police hovering in helicopters in the region in case he had visions of kidnap in his mind… I can sympathize with her to a certain degree.
