I have been to a couple of Ellen’s meetings, which are indeed few and far between. I was at the meeting JJ described, and he is right on about it. Ellen got angry and was arrogant and patronizing toward the audience.</p> <p>I am really pleased that there seems to be a groundswell forming to try and find someone to run against her. </p> <p>Here is another example of why I would like a new representative: There was an article in the New York Times a few years ago about how young soldiers were being snookered into buying expensive life insurance they did not need. Some soldiers thought they were signing up for a savings plan, only to discover when they returned from Iraq or Afghanistan that they were broke. Others thought they had to sign because their sergeants were in the room. The Pentagon wanted to ban insurance agents from military bases, but Ellen was against the ban. She was quoted as saying (I’m paraphrasing) “We shouldn’t treat them like children.” In other words, she sided with the insurance companies rather than protecting young soldiers who were being taken advantage of by unscrupulous salesmen.
