“girly mancrushes”? For pete’s sake I am tired of living like it’s the playground and second grade. There is nothing bad or weak about anything “girly.” There is nothing weak or bad about guys admiring or even lusting after another guy. Lots of things to say about fawning, glossy, shallow media coverage of a brutal dictator. Trying to smear them as effeminate queers is your best choice? Please.

I believe that the point of this *satirical* remark is that the WaPo’s otherwise unexplicable admiration for Pinochet is rooted in unacknowledged sexual attraction, which the WaPo author would presumably regard as a “girly mancrush” if observed in another.
