Did you hear the one about Barbara Comstock and Mark Corallo opening their own consulting firm to spin and manipulate public opinion on behalf of Republicans potentially facing indictment and having to deal with all those pesky subpoenas? Quoth Mr. Corallo:
Corallo and Comstock are forming the crisis management firm Corallo Comstock, Inc. They aim to open shop on Jan. 1, just before the new Democratic chairmen will start banging their gavels and demanding information from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.
“Just in time for subpoena season,” Corallo told HOH. (H/T to The Muck.)
Look kids, it's the market forces at work, Republican Beltway style.
(What? You don't like vultures?)

you’re number 1
For those unfamiliar with Barbara Comstock (Scooter’s spokesperson, among other things) and Mark Corallo (Rove’s spokesperson, among other things), the links I’ve provided in the post above ought to give you a good introduction to them. And by “good” intro, I mean a glimpse into the heart of manipulation and spin…
They could be on the leading edge of one of the big growth industries.
Rodriguez!
Love the title of Marcy’s post, from which you pulled Mr. Corallo’s comments: “Gooper Scoopers, Unite!” That about says it all.

Christy, vultures are found here in AZ as a part of nature. They are also used as a search tip for people who are looking for the lost. They start circling waiting to make sure that the target is dead.
Here are some websites:

Actually, since I think of vultures as natures clean up crew, I think of the Corallo Comstock, Inc as opportunistic blood sucking parasites.

Since there will be so many dems doing Gooper Scooper detail in the next congress, perhaps we need to break up into squads to try to follow individual investigations. THere is no way that Jane and Christy can do it alone. We’d probably need several legal beagles alone just to follow what Waxman is going to be doing. Then there’s Levin, Conyers, Markey, et al.
This is the kind of stuff where this community excels.

The best time to catch the tastiest pardons is on the Friday afternoon between Christmas and New Years, especially in the lamest December of a president’s term (i.e., next December).
Of course, every Friday is Take Out The Trash Friday, and who knows what will get tossed out today. Any guesses?
Also worth noting that one of the more insidious crisis management firms out there is CRC4PR, of SwiftBoating fame, related to the same nasty network that includes GOPUSA (Jeff Gannon), Media Research and Parents Television Council (Brent Bozell), TownHall.com (Malkin and Coulter) and the granddaddy, Heritage Foundation.
Why do Corallo and Comstock think there’s room in the market when this fine, outstanding specimen, CRC4PR, has had the damage control-crisis management market sewn up for years?

I’m still hoping that Babs realizes that her job as Libby’s spokesperson is rapidly coming to a close. He still might be able to pull off a graymail stunt, but it’s not looking good for his team right now. He can’t be pardoned, because Waxman’s probably already got his subpoena typed up. The memory expert was demolished, so that avenue isn’t looking good. And the man he’s protecting is about to have a grandchild with two mommies. If I were Rove, I’d be offering money to every bus driver on the planet to try to get to Cheney before the baby is born. Scooter is in serious danger of being caught in the crossfire. Happy New Year!

Interesting point regarding Waxman’s inevitable investigation in the event that Bush pardon’s Libby.
I would love to hear Jane and Christy share their thoughts on whether and how the shift in congressional power to the Democrats will effect the dynamics and strategy of the legal teams on both sides of the Libby case.
Did the events of November 7 critically damage Libby’s hopes of a pardon?
If so, how will the decreased likelihood of a pardon change Libby’s willingness to cut a deal with Fitzgerald?
These are complex questions that I would love to see dissected here at FDL.

He better believe Americans are wise and decent…or at worst, they got around to loathing his spotty ass.
The first of what may end up being a dozen arrests of Alaska GOP legislators and energy industry power brokers occurred yesterday afternoon in Anchorage:
Federal authorities arrested state Rep. Tom Anderson on Thursday on “public corruption” charges, the FBI said. Anderson was still in custody at the Anchorage Jail this morning.
FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez said further details would be available from the Department of Justice Friday with the release of the federal charging documents.
Gonzalez only would say that there was a federal warrant for Anderson’s arrest “in connection with a public corruption probe.” Anderson was arrested around 4:30 p.m. Thursday at his home, Gonzalez said.
Anderson, who was elected to the state House four years ago to represent Muldoon but did not seek re-election in November, kept up his original consulting business as an adviser for clients who do business with state and local government.
He is married to state Rep. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, who was elected to the state Senate in November. McGuire could not be reached for comment, but Anderson’s father, Tom Anderson, former director of the Alaska State Troopers, told the Associated Press, “No comment” when contacted Thursday night.
http://www.adn.com/news/politi…..8881c.html
Anderson wasn’t one of the legislators whose offices were searched by the FBI back in August and September.
For those interested in how this may have an impact on the five-day old gubernatorial administration of Sarah Palin, I would estimate it will have NO impact directly on it. She ran in and won the GOP primary as an severe critic of the kind of corruption and cronyism which will be highlighted by these arrests as they roll out.
So, to be on topic here – an arrest accompanied by a night in jail for a GOP crook is always better than a mere subpoena…
Ed*ard at 129 — was Son of Stevens one of the arrested? Could be a long, cold winter for you guys — punctuated by some serious heat if this keeps up. *g*

Only Rep. Anderson was arrested. It is interesting that he could have been arrested anytime Thursday, but was pulled in so late that it was difficult to post bail. The amount of bail hasn’t yet been made public. It is also interesting that the arrest was on Thursday, leaving today for more action. I’m tempted to go to Anderson’s arraignment, if only to see his dad, who I haven’t seen in years. We attended a course – EMT I & II – at the state Police Academy together back in the late 1970s.
I’m expecting Ben Stevens to be at the head of the main wave of arrests, possibly along with Bill Allen, owner of Veco, and publisher of the “Voice of the Times,” the rump of the now-defunct “Anchorage Times.”
Although I fully agree that at some point we need to place blame and punish those who have violated laws, if that’s all the new Congress does, it will constitute just as big a group of losers as the previous one.
The problems our country faces may not have been caused by you or me, but we have to be the ones to solve these problems.
Senator Frist has decided to “cut and run” rather than face the issues, President Bush and VP Cheney apparently refuse to face reality. Be that as it may, a new Congress faces problems that require bold initiatives. Just as FDR faced problems never contemplated by the Founding Fathers, we face just such a crisis now. Our economy is in shambles, our debt is enormous, and the new emerging superpower (China) is our biggest creditor and competitor. We all want out of Iraq, but we are responsible for the chaos there and must do something to minimize it. With all due respect (not much) to Newt Gingrich, we have already lost an American city (New Orleans) and have turned our backs on it. Our reputation in the world has been severely damaged and even our power has been compromised. Might does not make right.
The Middle Class of America which is the backbone of our strength is under attack, we are more divided as a nation than at anytime since the end of the Civil War.
These are the problems . ..what are our answers?
To truly appreciate the idiocy of the “No attacks since 9/11″ meme, imagine a robbery defendent telling the judge, “Well, yeah, but I haven’t robbed anybody since I was arrested!”

you’re making their case for them, i.e., that they’ve “arrested” the bad guys, ergo no more attacks.
There’s been no more attacks since 9/11 for the same reason there weren’t any for 10 years before 9/11 – spactacular attacks are not all that easy to do for middle easterners.
.
If he pardon’s that just leaves one person for them to go after – him. And a landslide victory delivered by the people based on corruption is not going to let pardon’s go by.
So he would have to be in pretty serious trouble by what people are going to say to start with the pardons. And plenty of people are already saying things free of charge or to make money.
To bad so sad for 43 that 41 already used up the pardon and bury the facts with Executive orders, libraries, and plumb jobs for your secrete society cronies.
