Surely you meant Lawrence Welk, not Mel Torme. Mel had an amazing voice and wrote some great tunes (including the very best jazzy Xmas carol). Surely his position of honor on Night Court puts him on the RedState enemies list. Lawrence Welk, OTOH, could drain the life out of any song at 30 paces. He was required weekly viewing at my (staunchly Republican) grandparent’s. Ooh, the pain.

The Red State article is also awash in terror that polygamy is being legitimized due to the Gay Agenda or something like that. Funny, but when I read the Bible, polygamy seems about as faith-based amd traditional a marriage arrangement that you can find. But I guess they missed that part.

Do I have to re-register everytime I oppose anyone being discriminated against?

Could be problematic if your china pattern has been discontinued in the meantime, and keeping up with all the thank-you notes would be *exhausting*.

I’m halfway reminded of Diderot, who, after lambasting the nobility for their promiscuity, turned around and advocated an approach close to free love, with sexual training beginning in the home.

I’d like to suggest, however gently, that people so retrograde and so, well, repressed — might not be able to read a calendar properly, as much for physical as psychological reasons. Under the rubrick of “Well, ya gotta crawl before ya can walk,” I suggest we send them a link to the site of Betty Dodson, the “self-loving” advocate.

A whole $250–that will really motivate someone. When I was in graduate school at the University of Chicago I usually spent at least $250 on books for many of my classes.

If that is all the Young Republicans can come up with for a “Caucasian Achievement and Recognition Scholarship” they must be slipping.
