I saw the Batiste segment on Hardball also and I was as stunned as Chris. Chris kept asking “who is our enemy in Iraq?” Batiste
replied that it didn’t matter, that they were all our enemy. It was a scary, real life version of “kill the all and let Allah sort it out.” I still can’t believe that I heard what I heard.

That is the sort of question and answer which every paper of repute should put on it’s front page as a headline story. The American people have needed to see that for a long time. That they haven’t been allowed to hear the inner circle of ‘leaders’ explaining this war makes the MSM also culpable for all the warcrimes, waste of lives & money.

Sounds good, except for Maj. Gen Batiste’s appearance. He was on Harball last night and was absolutely loopy. If you had your eyes closed, you’d think you were listening to a Bush/Cheney campaign spokesman circa October 2004. Matthews was stunned by the drivel coming out of Batiste’s mouth, lectured him for about a full minute and then went to commercial without giving Batiste an opportunity to respond or say his good-byes.

Literally, Matthews mouth was gaping in stunned silence.

Who’s Next?

Seems there was a story early this week about the Dems plan for lobbying reform / ethics [this is where I’m hazy — the subject of the legislation].

The point of the article was that the Dems don’t want a huge bill, full of all kinds of wide-ranging aspects, and then stuffed with extras to boot.

No! Instead, they’re going to offer up little “bites” — one tasty bit at a time. For instance a bill that says “no free trips from lobbyists.” Period. Next bill: “no meals from lobbyists.” Period. Next bill: concrete ways to have more transparency in reporting lobbying contacts. Period. And all done in the light of day.

Etc. etc. — you get the idea. I think it’s GREAT! People will love it.

Are you all as revved up and energized about this as I am? [Well, except for that bit about needing a nap…]
