This doesn’t surprise me much. If memory serves, much of Bush’s ‘diplomacy’ in the run-up to the Iraq war involved him making some phone calls or having meetings in Washington, but not actually shuttling from country to country. Granted, he wanted the war no matter what, so any diplomatic efforts largely were kabucki theater. But I still found this a glaring aspect of the pre-war period, even as it related to lining up allies.

While reading this I was thinking the same thing: Our President is just so incurious about the world or anything not about him it’s embarassing.
It’s even more glaring when I just finished reading on another blog an interview with Al Gore…
it makes me weep

Bush is Missing In Action in Vietnam while America suffers through this quagmire in Iraq.

And they say there’s no parallel between ‘Nam and Iraq.

Now, if only the Vietnamese would imprison Dubya, making him the a POW. Perhaps they could even charge him with War Crimes related to his ‘leadership’ on Iraq.

BTW, have ya read there’s a new attempt to get Germany to charge Donald Rumsfeld with war crimes. A suit was brought some time back, but it was tossed out since Rummy was still in office. Maybe it will go through this time. At least the issue has been put on the table.

—–

Let’s see: Libby on trial, Abramoff convicted, Ney convicted, Taft admitted guilty, Noe ?, Delay out of office and likely guilty, Limbaugh laughable, Coulter being investigated for voter fraud, Ingraham might be investigated soon, Rumsfeld OUT, etc. How many can be rounded up and convicted before the Bush admin ends? Any guesses? Will Bushie be one of ‘em?

Grading papers today, having sworn off FDL and other dens of iniquity until I do what I’m paid for. But in the course of my reading countless essays on Marx, I kept thinking about our Fearless Leader, and how amazing it was that we (I mean YOU, american public) could have elected Him). He’s not even a putz. He should be so lucky to be a putz.

It pales the imagination to think that a nation that has some actual world-class heroes (Washington, Lincon, FDR, MLK) should be represented by a person who if, he were only mediocre, would do honor to his office.

And the stepford wife.

Oh, the suburbs. Hell on wheels.

kirk- here’s the link re: the cat litter. I don’t have kitties right now. (So maybe I am just looking for second-hand kitty love.) This rec. is based on prior experience. Don’t know about the cracked pine litter, but it sounds similar.

VG, I’m so happy to share the kitty love!

I share the brush love, too - it works.

I think we were talking about kitty litter at one point, but I can’t find it… :) [no snark intended]

Have you tried the cracked pine litter?

More precisely, have your kitties?

kirk- thanks. As you have probably figured, any positive feedback about the equine cat brush is a great delight to me. I don’t have any explanation for this particular interest of mine, except kitty love! VG

This may be OT, but perhaps not…

Y’all do such great research in the comments section.

When i go to search for it later on, the search machine doesn’t see the comments.

I’m wondering if wordpress has a “comments search” function i just can’t find.

Sure hope so - we share so much great info and research here.

Kirk- I will forward your comment to “the powers that be”. Actually, I think if you use google advanced search, specify from site firedoglake.com and include terms, you can find stuff in the comments.

Thanks VG!

From your keyboard to the screens of “those on high”…..

Hey - that reminds me that my kitty Rain says “hi” - and the equine brush is a big hit..
