Democrats turn Dallas County a shade of blue

Dallas County still calls its historic courthouse Old Red, but on Tuesday it went “blue.”

A national wave of Democratic voting and changing demographics swept Republicans out of power in the county as the GOP surrendered 42 judgeships, the district’s attorney office and the county judge’s seat.

My dream come true: we drove the wave all the way down the Mississippi and into Texas. How embarassing for Dubya. I wonder how other seats down there went. Of course, Sen. Huchison won, but how’d the other seats go?

Similarly, how’d Louisiana and Mississippi go? I hope they got some revenge for their treatment during and after hurricane Katrina.

Of course, they COULDN’T offer oversight. They had bought into the Rovian control-by-brute-bullying as the means to a “permanent GOP majority.”

Ha! Guess they hadn’t heard what happened to the “thousand-year Reich.” THOSE guys sure weren’t slouches about “party discipline” and look how they ended up — dead in the bunker, sentenced at Nuernberg. You’d think their history books would’ve offered up a cautionary tale, eh?

For me, this is a huge, even more meaningful magnification of the feeling I had when the poll results came in over the Terry Schiavo fiasco. That was when I knew for sure (in contrast to my fear) that even in the face of a non-stop, relentless propaganda, the American people were still fundamentally, basically SANE.

That sense is again washing over me, more profoundly. We’re not a nation of people rushing eagerly into the open maw of fascism. Thank God.
