Okay, so, the Big CNN Bloggers' Ball is over and I escorted Christy back to her hotel. Then, I tried to catch a cab back out to my Dad's place in Alexandria. The first cabbie who came to the hotel claimed to have no idea where the road I was trying to get to is. The second cabbie just flat said he didn't want to go that far out of his way.
So, I'm here in Christy's room until the Metro starts running again at 5:00am. After lying there grinding my teeth for several minutes from all the coffee I drank at Tryst, I realized that sleeping is not going to really be an option between now and five. At least, not any kind of meaningful sleep. I could maybe grab a fitful forty minutes or so, probably snoring so horribly as to completely disrupt poor Christy's slumber, and ultimately falling asleep just in time to miss my alarm and make myself late for the train and then late getting back to my Dad's and then late for my flight back home.
So, here I am, hoping that some of you readers will keep me company for the hour and a half remaining before the trains start running again.
Cor, I am beat, and tomorrow will be a long day of airports and suffering, but hey, I can take it. I'm a big boy. And my cats will be waiting for me at the other end of all this, not to mention my bed.
Can you guys believe it? The Dems took the House and, pending the results of the Webb/Allen race, it looks like we may have taken the Senate as well. We are some bad-ass bitchez, aren't we? I was just daydreaming aloud to Christy about how there's going to be some offices cleaned out in the next couple months, some Repugnican committees are going to get moved to the basement of the Capitol, and some come-uppances are going to be served up at Speaker Pelosi's Blue Plate Diner. Yeeeeeeee-haw. I could just kiss myself.
It's going to make that rainy, cold walk to the train and from the Franconia-Springfield station to my Dad's house a lot more bearable in the pre-dawn darkness. WE FUCKING DID IT, you guys!! More than half of our Blue America candidates won their races, which, if I'm not mistaken, beats the snot out of Rahm Emanuel's percentages this time around.
We are karma hunters. Uh-huh.

Dude!
Nice to see both Jane and T-Rex here. :)
CNN giving props to Howard Dean. Anyone else seeing this?
I saw your pic with Amato, the skinny tie is really pretty cool!
omg i have to go upstairs again triple epu tonite.
I’m thrilled the Dems got Congress. It’s about time!
Pelosi is going to make a great Speaker of the House.
I’ve got a friend in Washington who works with a lot of the Republicans in power and he’s told me that they all like Pelosi because “she’s just a genuinely nice person.” They think she is hard to beat. Hopefully she’ll be able to help pass some meaningful legislation with them — and it’s about time!!
Are you guys using Montana voting machines to post?
Fitz? MNSBC just reported that Tester increased lead to 5,600 with 80 percent reported. Good news!
I hope Mr. Reddhead can count on you to be a gentleman, TRex.
Actually I’m pretty sure he can.
80%. Tester still up by 2 points.
Dammit. I thought I had managed to pull this post back. Oh, well. Welcome!
OUCH! That closed comments hurt (rubbing tushie). My 3rd reference was regarding Pelosi’s position in the line of succession.
Twas a good night, my friend. I’ve never been more upset than I am now that I am no longer a VA resident. 18 years in Virginia without being old enough to vote, and when I finally move away, we get an election where my vote could have really mattered. Ach, oh well.
CNN rerunning the McCain interview. He looks like someone just shot his puppy.

Amen!
In our house we’ve been doing that for months (well, years), and we ain’t stopping now.
Our favorite prayer has been “Lord, please trip up those who love evil and deception in their OWN evil and deception, with minimal damage to the innocent.”
And on THAT score, we’ve been saying lots and lots of thank-yous for answered prayer. Amazing how these mafiosi-types have been consistently shooting themselves in the foot for a long time now.

Shit. Where did I leave that agenda? It must be around here somewhere…
I am still awake out here on the west coast. I have just been celebrating with our local state representative who has retained his seat along with our Democratic Governer, Congressman, and now a Democratic state house too. I am so completely out of my mind with enthusiasm and excitement I can’t believe what an amazing historic day today has become. It has been so long since I rejoiced after an election, I hardly know how to do it. I am just overflowing with pride. Thank you all so much for providing me with daily motivation to get out and do something about all that I formerly just bitched about. xoxoxoxoxoxo M
A Canadian from Vancouver thanks all the Americans who helped make today a day for the history books!
Now here’s the original bit that also got lost in the thread tangle (if any of you saw it already, I apologize for the re-do) — I got so confused with the thread closings!
“Oh my.
‘Tis my first chance to get back to the ‘puter for a moment on my way to bed. What a night! I’m so happy!
Except…I still have nothing resembling representation here in AZ. I’m very, very happy about Harry Mitchell, but sad to say, we’re not in his district. Stuck with that creep, Shadegg. And two thug senators. None of these people return my letters or respond to my phone calls.
Oh well.
That’s just our household being wistfully envious of those of you with new Democratic representation. We are truly joyful that the nation has been pulled back from the brink.
Can’t wait to see Little Boots tomorrow. In the Rose Garden perhaps? It’ll be interesting to see just how delusional he still is, now that he’s been slapped ringingly across the face.
Of course, the other thing that sticks in my craw is that neocon-in-Dem’s-clothing up in Connecticut. We definitely still have a Lieberman problem, and I need to go back down a couple threads to see what the great minds here have considered as possibilities. Personally, I’d love to see him get indicted over that slush fund, or over any other crime he may have commited in his greedy, bullying “campaign.” I just wish that CT’s governor weren’t Red.
But don’t get me wrong. I’m a very happy camper tonight.
And I thank every single one of the Firepups for all the glorious blood, sweat, and tears expended to get us to this precise moment.
Blessings on you all!
And tomorrow the fight is renewed — on a new level.”
Now what the hell is going on with Tester? Something fishy’s happening, I fear.

montana has some districts recounting due to machine malfunctions. slowing things down.
Just a thought but now the election is over, the FBI can arrest Young, Doolittle, Pombo, etc, correct? Weren’t those indictments held off until after the election? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

Hmmm. looking at Mt. When Tester’s lead was above 5000, I looked at remaining counties and calculated that Burns gould gain nearly 5000 votes… except I was taking few split counties left like yellowstone as 50:50. Yellowstone is populous and if it breaks for Tester by a little, he should be able to hold on and win.

Lewis is a logical choice, but he’s spent lots of money on lawyers to keep the hounds at bay, and that could go on for a while. Actually, I think the easiest and quickest one to pick off is going to be Bilbray. I doubt that it’s going to take more than a few days for a local grand jury to come to the conclusion that he was lying his ass off about his primary residence and indict.

reason Democrats took the Senate and the House is because $20,000,000 of GOP cash (or more!!) was diverted to Connecticut to the campaign of the victor, Connecticut for Lieberman victor Lieberman.

More About This Race
Watching MSNBC (on mute now that KO bounced out) and seeing that glaring red TN on a map of senate races that is otherwise blue has me beating my head against the wall.
I must begin to plan my escape from this uneducated, inbred, racist, gay-hating, authoritarian, theocratic state that has apparently progressed not enough since recon-fucking-struction.
Almost as frustrating as the Lieber-douche.
I expect we’ll see *ilson back before the end of the week, if not later today. I concur, it will be great to have him with us again.
dipper @ 101
Nah, dead serious–that’s like Beavis and Butt-head with guns. Think about it–Beav… I mean, Bush, went hunting when he was running for governor and shot an endangered species, and Butt-… I mean, Toad-In-The-Hole, shot his friend in the head.
It’s a no-brainer. The Secret Service wouldn’t let those two out together with firearms…. :)
Sorry to say it, but Tester could easily lose this one. The trend is for Burns, and the counties with incomplete results all lean towards him.
Yellowstone began recount due to computer problems.
I think it’s going to come down to Meagher and Yellowstone. Neither are Blue or Red, and most of the rest of the counties still coming in lean red. Before the yellowstone recount was underway, Tester was leading there.
It would appear I’m going to be fighting side-by-side with Charlie Brown for this Congress seat again very soon as the word out out the campaign is that a sealed indictment is about to be delivered to Doolittle in the very near future.
Is Pelosi still going to implement her 100 hours pledge?
100 “owww!”, errr, Wedgie
Nate, that would be wonderful.
Craig Crawford on MSNBC just called Bush delusional, compared him to Nixon.
Nate @ 122

The district was redrawn after the Supreme Court case. We’re having a modified primary this time. If nobody gets 50% of the vote, there’s a runoff. There were six Dem challengers. Ciro has the most votes of them. Bonilla hasn’t broken 50. If the votes hold right now, we’ll have another election next month, to determine who gets the seat!

I AM standing up. No bows for me, though. If everyone who supported their candidate as persistently as I did here had won, the Dems would have such total control of the US houses, it would have gone to our heads. It is already heady enough.
This was the 60th or so public election I’ve voted in. Even though Diane Benson didn’t win yet, a month ago we fought hard for a progressive school board and Borough Assembly and won. Big time.
A big west coast “hello” to all the Firepups! Pombo’s trailing McNerney, but hasn’t conceeded yet. That one will be sweet.
In the Oregon House, the speaker is a nasty woman named Karen Minnis, and it looks like she’s losing to Democratic challenger Rob Brading. It’s really, really close, so there will be a recount I’m sure. Taking out the sitting Speaker would be awesome.
It sounds like the Oregon legislature is going Dem, which is fabulous.
Huge gains for the Democratic party everywhere, and for Democracy. Hugs and smooches for everyone!

Finally. A master of the obvious.
It gets better… If Doolittle IS indicted in the next 30-60 days as looks likely, Charlie has the mobilized Army in place and ready to rock for the mandated special election by CA law! The really funny part is that he predicted this at the very first campaign event I saw him at with Max Cleland. He told the group of Veterans there to elect him this time and save the CA Taxpayers 10Mil for the special election after Doolittle is indicted.
The army is strong too. What a huge, amazing crowd. Can you believe that the Reddest district in the most populated state in the Union. A district so conservative that Bush won it 2 years ago with 69%. And Charlie lost tonight 51% to 48%. WOW!
Veterans groups…
Labor Unions…
Student Groups…
All standing by to suit up and game on again.
And I promised him Bloggers would support as well. He was so happy with the video interview and really gave everyone a wonderful thank you. I wish you all could have been there. There wasn’t even a sadness when he made his “concession” speech.
Everyone was simply like… “Darn. Now we gotta work harder next month!”
oh kmak, thank god. i thought i was losing it.

MT won’t be sorted till dawn, ET. Or dawn, MT for that matter.
Fuck HoJoe. Pay him off with whatever he wants. Why? Because he can’t chair every committee, or fuck up every bit of Senate business.
And damn you, Dem establishment, but you’d better find a place for Ned Lamont. Screwing him over probably cost you one House seat, and possibly two. And it’s time to stop treating Congress as a private members’ club.
Nate, it’s good to know all of you are thinking of getting back in the game at the first opportunity. That opening could come any day. :)

WASHINGTON – Democrats won control of the House early Wednesday after a dozen years of Republican rule in a resounding repudiation of a war, a president and a scandal-scarred Congress.
“From sea to shining sea, the American people voted for change,” declared Rep. Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record), the hard-charging California Democrat in line to become the nation’s first female House speaker.

I think we should take up a collection to send those two on a hunting vacation together… They could take Karl Rove with them… We could let Poochegian (the guy who lost for Attorney General in California tonight) go along with them as Tour Guide. Poochegian could be responsible for the weapons. Naturally, Poochegian would want to use those 5″ bullets they kept showing on the TV commercials.
If the stars are aligned that day (or maybe, if the hunters are aligned that day) Shooter could accidentally mistake one of them for a quail and knock them all into oblivion!

now when the GOP starts fighting over who is to blame we should encourage the fundies and extreme right wingers to take over their party. Rob,
Tester has won.
The planeload of Republican lawyers Rove was flying to Missoula to fix a deal had engine trouble. The lawyers had to bail out over the Rockie Mt. foothills. It was windy, so the parachuting lawyers are scattered all over the countryside.
Apparently, they all landed safely on a huge sheep ranch. When the Republican attorneys saw the vast coveys of sheep, they got on their cell phones and turned them off.
The sheep, hearing the distant sound of dozens of caps being unscrewed from vaseline tubes, retreated into the hills, nervously looking behind as they heard the young Republican attorneys chanting “This one’s for Rickie S!!! Man, do we want those rabid lambs!”
Pombo gone unbelievable. I can sleep now. Webb has the biggest pair in the Senate! Tester will pull through. g’nite gotta work tomorrow

Republicans, welcome to the school of ass-kickery! Yaaa!!!
With control of the house and senate we don’t need to override bush’s veto! Instead of loading pork onto budget bills we load on amendments to bills to raise the minimum wage, healthcare for everybody linked to continued war funding (we can pull out after the bill is passed) plus I would LOVE to see bush veto a bill to pay for keeping troops in Iraq. Or bush could veto it in which case after a standoff we tell the troops to come home even bush can’t ask them to work without pay. The possiblities are delightful if bush wants something we ask for 10 times the amount in return!
5:36am and they still haven’t called Montana
I’m thinking Burns people counted the votes and saw they were losing, so they decided to take the machines out of the equation and recount them until they could win. However, Tester may have won so big they can’t do it.
I too look at the big blue wave and Tennessee stands out as a sore thumb.
I watched Corker’s speech and I swear that guy is a criminal. If it’s called for him at 100% counted, then Ford should require a state-wide recount. Same for Montana and Virginia.
This is our blue wave and nobody’s gonna stop it — nobody, from sea to shining sea.
I saw the video of Jean Schmidt having trouble at the polling place and I can’t believe she won fair and square. That too should be recounted.
I watched the Wyoming house debate between Cubin and the Dem. He outclassed her entirely. She could barely speak in sentences. It’s close (50-50) and if Cubin wins we should definately get a recount there.
Other races I’m not so familiar with. I’m thinking we could almost look at a colored map and pick out the points of fraud by seeing red where it should be blue.
Don’t be satisfied with ‘the official count’. Fight every close race to the bitter end!

John Casper at 332 I think treason is a good reason to get impeached! Didn’t the Rosenbergs get the Chair for giving the Russians the bomb? Pat Roberts gave it to them translated into their own language! Don’t know what the lawyers will say when they wake up, but a check in the quick-n-dirty Wikipedia “impeachment” article suggests it’s not clear whether a Senator is impeachable:
However I bet that if charges could be brought against some of the pre-war liars, for instance, you’d have a shot at Roberts for some of his many instances of obstruction.
It is a very good morning here in central NJ, in spite of rain. Stayed up until 12:30, reading results on the toobz and not using any traditional media [good way to avoid bloviating]. I would have watched Christy [the sole exception], but I don’t have cable.
Congratulations to the Democratic winners. Savor this moment and get some well-earned rest before you get to work doing the people’s business, cleaning out the Augean stables that the rubber-stamp Republican Congress left behind.

I am deeply grateful for people like Ned Lamont and his supporters. They had a great message, great messenger, and an incredible team effort They ran a terrific campaign in CT, with some of the best ads of the cycle, but the incumbent-protection team was in full force.
Many thanks to everyone here at the ‘Lake for the good companionship on the journey. Rest up, everyone. The march continues.

Absolutely. And so say all of us.

I’ve put out some coffee [nice French roast, and some decaf, for folks who don’t need or want any more stimulation], and there’s a nice pot of Irish breakfast tea on the counter, and some juice in the pitcher over there. I’ll be taking the biscuits out of the oven in about five minutes. Help yourself to whatever appeals to you. It’s a victory breakfast.
njprogressive, Thanks for the pot of tea! MMM… There. Now my heart has started again.

Sorry, I was just reading that last few comments on the kos thread. Makes me a little worried.
The Dem’s will only have to cater to Lieberman until through investigation or scandel a republican resigns and a Dem Governer somewhere gets to appointa replacement so He needs to be careful for how much he bleeds the party for senority rights. If he asks for too much the backlash for when they don’t need him anymore would be really interesting to watch. It could actually be more fun to listen to him whine for 4-5 years after he gets dumped. How humilitating for him to have the office and no power whats so ever. Otherwise what a great evening and what a repudation of everything Bush. It was great to see Christy on CNN last night. I have hope for our country again. I think it is great that the Dem’s are reaching across the isle. Their generosity and reconciliatory attitude was unexpected. Go firedoglake! Go TREX! Go the United States of America!

FRAMING THE DEBATE IN TERMS THAT ACTUALLY MATTER
Because of you, republicans were forced for the first time in a very long time, to address issues that really matter tothe American public. You held the MSM’s feet to the fire and forced them to do their jobs/gave cover to the ones who wished they could do their jobs but were to chicken to speak truth to power.
YOU DID THIS.
The pardigm has shifted and you did a lot of the lifting.
I am proud to know you, if only in cyberspace.

Thanks and good morning Marion.
tfitznc,
You’re welcome. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a certain bounce in my step and a twinkle in my eye this morning…
And God so loved the world that he sent us his only begotten son Jesus (sorry if I didn’t remeber the exact words). If bush believes in Iraq so much then maybe congress should pass a law and dare bush to sign it that forces the children, grandchildren whomever is of draft age of the President, Congress and the Supreme Court to Join Combat units on the front lines WHENEVER America goes to war or a Police Action. This law would show the troops that WE support them, and that our Cause is Just after all if the President is willing to risk sacrificing the bush twins then bush must really believe the war is necesary. If this law passes the house then it becomes a media storm and the white house will be unable to ignore the story. Watching the republicans spin why they can’t support the bill would be great. Of course if bush does send the twins to Iraq then to be fair I think we might have a chance of winning the war. It would only be fair after all to follow Principle and fairness if bush for once would put Principle above winning.

Honestly, my gait has yet to be tested. But I am indeed pleased that Shuler won big and looking forward to SPEAKER PELOSI’s first 100 hours. From the Demopedia:
LJ/Aquaria @ 370
Apparently, this is why.
prostratedragon @ 367
Yup! McNerney is one of ours:
In 2004, when the Democratic Party decided not to bother running a candidate against Richard Pombo, Jerry McNerney stood up for Democrats in CD-11 and ran as a write-in candidate. Despite receiving absolutely NO support from the Democratic Party, McNerney, with the help of a strong grassroots campaign, received over 104,000 votes in the general election against Pombo, more than any other Democrat has ever received. Finally forced to take notice of the district by McNerneys results and Pombos increasingly high-profile criminal behavior, the Democratic Party responded by anointing a Rahm Emanuel moderate to run against McNerney in the primary. Grassroots activists are strongly behind McNerney and his chances of beating Pombo increase every day, especially as more and more revelations come out about Pombo activities. This is a red-leaning suburban district that has become more and more progressive in the last few years. Now is the time to say no to Pombo and YES to Jerry McNerney!

Randy Tinkerman at 363 Tweety is Chris Mathews a tv talking head on Cnbc, Msnbc I honestly don’t know the guy makes my head explode. He is called tweety because his hair is the same color as tweety from loony tunes until recently he was bush’s biggest backer outside of fox news. However Keith Obermen started getting great ratings attacking bush so the new head of the network ordered tweety, tucker carlson and joe scarbrough they all got shows on the network to start being a little liberal. The network is getting higher ratings now hopefuly the rest of the MSM (main stream media) follows their example.
Kentucky Woman @ 365
Correct Kentucky Woman, nickname comes from the Tweety Bird YELL0W color of Matthew’s hair, which a lot of FDLers opine is not his natural color.
Thanks DB. Interesting, that.

“Constantine Stavropoulos, the owner of the cafe, said he had closed its doors for the “blog party,” which the network periodically broadcast and streamed online. He said he expected the bloggers — an attractive bunch, he said — to linger long after the votes were in.

I guess they changed out of their underwear and bunny slippers.
oh yeah Randy at 363 do you work for VESTAS wind systems, GAMESA? I got some stock in Vestas whats your take on wind in europe and world wide?
John Casper @ 378
It wasn’t just us. His own staff said so!
To Randy at # 363: “Tweety” is NBC/MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews.
Now for the reason for this post. As I sit here, all the major news organizations show the Senate tied 49-49, assuming that the two “Independents” will caucus with the Democrats. Also at this time, the vote counts show Webb beating Tester by 1744 votes in MT, and Webb taking Virginia by 7874 votes. If the totals hold, the Dems will then theoretically hold 51 seats and the Senate. It is at that point that we will see the results of the failure of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Harry Reid and other Democrats to offer more than lip service and a few token $ to Ned Lamont and actively get out and campaign for him, as Joe Liarman repays Karl Rove, Cheney, and the accidental president and stabs the Dems in the back in the guise of “bipartisanship” and hands the Senate to the Rethuglicans. And what will they all say then as there surely will be hell to pay….
Hey Dover, good to see you. Great day for America and the world!
mc @ 380
The right wing side bathed and did something to counter the orange stains on their fingers. Maybe dipping it in green KoolAid. I understand that cancels orange.
If you look closely, Matthews favors Tweety bird in other ways too. Boy was he irritable last night – definitely feeling the heat from Keith and Joe, both of whom publically challenged him last night.
I happen to love hardball and i am pretty surprised he gets the angst of progressives
he seems to do one of the best jobs holding everyone’s feet to the fire
it could be done better of course, but at least it’s more ballanced then everything else
I like him
That has to be a parody. Tweety all but wet his pants over Bush’s flight suit codpiece, and treated Tom DeLay with kid gloves after he’d been indicted.
Thanks for the info, Audrey, that’s a great story. I have a feeling that an important part of finishing off this Baroque phase the Congress has been in by 2008 will be to catalog and keep in mind all such stories, so the he-lots running the campaign committees can’t soak up time and resources claiming they are The Experts and undermining good candidates.
TRex,
I’m a lurker. And you’re probably trudging to the airport by now, but I just have to tell you how much I love you. You’re the best and goddammit, people like you. Go have pleasant dreams with your kitties cuddling you. And thanks for all the hard work.
And now, permit me to spaze out a bit:
We won in MO, for the love of all that is right, we finally won!
Ahh, I love the smell of republican defeat early in the morning.
Just slept off a day of poll standing for Ned in Monroe. Such a shame that Joe is still standing the day after the general. But we gave him a shock and outed him as the neocon R that he is.
It’s been said here many times on this thread. Dems owe Ned big:
1. For showing that Iraq was a potent campaigning weapon.
2. For drawing R cash out or other areas.
3. For getting progressives [even more] fired up about this cycle.
Joe won’t forget who did or didn’t back him. Neither will I forget those who didn’t actively back the Democratic candidate. I’m done with Bill and Hillary. I’m done with Schumer and his DSCC.

LJ/Aquaria @ 393
Merry Christmas!
Good Morning ALL!
Netroots!
IMO in fairness to Tweety, last night, they were fighting to keep Republican viewers from going over to Fox.
Since coming to FDL, I learned that what a lot of old-timers hate about Tweety, Russert, and most other Journalists is that they traded our “right to know,” for access to the White House.
A significant number of FDLers still like and respect Tweety and I don’t think he was in favor of the Iraq invasion. Unfortunately, I think the general opinion is that Tweety knew a lot about Plamegate as it was unfolding, but wouldn’t reveal it, because he didn’t want to lose his WH access.
John Casper @ 384
And great to see you on such a fine day. I think I’m going to have to sleep now… was hoping to see the results in Montana. Wish I could go to bed with certainty. I was thinking that being on PT and therefore able to stay awake for all the results was the positive trade-off for not being able to see Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert live at 11pm. But it didn’t work out that way.

I just hate the way Tweety talks to Dean. It’s just awful to watch. It’s always “So, you’re no longer the pro-choice party? Well are you? Huh?”
Last night he actually said to Dean, “So, you want to stay in Iraq.” Uh, no, Tweety.
Quick drive-by before leaving for work. Tweety is a whore who will jump in the car with whoever is offering the best deal. Streetwalkers on 42nd street are more honest. He is a yellow haired little little man, heavy from cocktail weenies. I will never forgive him.
Anyway, I am in love with KO and hope to marry him in June. Or July. Of course, August will work for me also.

Do you know a Paris-based blogger who posts at Daily Kos named “Jerome a Paris”?
He’s in banking and just helped arrange a deal of some sort involving financing for wind power, successfully encouraging his employer to take the plunge on the deal. I scanned the diary at Daily Kos briefly (think it was about a week ago or so) and didn’t catch all the detail, but it sounded like a pretty big deal. Sorry I don’t know enough (about the info at Daily Kos OR about the ins and outs of wind power) to mention more specifics.

You make a very good point. Tweety was already waxing rhapsodic about how much the Dems owe to Rahm’s and Schumer’s “leadership.”
Interestingly, there was a reporter there to cut into that bit of nonsense — pointing out how some of the successful candidates were not at all the choices of Rahm OR Chuck. Sorry to say I’m too sleep-deprived to remember now who the heck the informed journalist-type was.
This sort of nonsense needs to be nipped in the bud, since surely neither Rahm nor Chuckie will set folks like the Tweetster straight on the matter.

Great Question!
Billings gazette article linked to above mentions lots of same-day registration in Flathead county Montana. Didn’t I read somewhere that that’s a Burns stronghold (his home area, even?)Any thoughts on that?
I saw a report somewhere that someone had seen the final numbers for MT, and Burns was up by 1744.
IF I were Tester, it would be recount time, if that’s an option. Nobody seems to know what the percents need to be. I’ll look, but that could take a while.

tommy yum – very sorry about your cat. Animals become part of your family and it is always hard to let them go, especially for children. Know you are doing the right thing.
I don’t recall where I read it, but someone said that Clinton had triangulated the soul out of the Democratic party.
Yesterday the real Democrats took a big step forward to reclaiming it.
My first vote was cast in 1956 in El Paso, when fresh out of Notre Dame, I worked for and helped elect a Mexican-American mayor.
Today, I sit and wait for the Tortilla curtain to be extended across the border with Mexico thanks to the Republican sponsored immigrant “crisis.” Boxer and Obama voted for the thing, along with Lieberman’s good friend, Salazar of Colorado and other clueless dems.
In addition to those named above, the Clintons, Reid, Schumer and all the beltway fools failed to recognize the wave that was building, as did that silly Emanuel over at the House.
The fight is just beginning and surely will not be won in my lifetime. But for the veterans, for the children everywhere, and for the future of America, it must be won. Some day in Texas, we also will return to civilization.
Congratulations, and thank you.

Nice Polite Republicans has that lying whore cokie roberts on telling how the moderate dems carried the party and will now be fighting with those nasty old liberals in the leadership.
Oh yea fuck LIEberman and CT rethugs.
Look, folks, I’ve done four posts upstairs already!
I’m so sorry to hear about your situation. Raven is actually my 13 year old cocker and he has been fighting cancer for two years. We know we are coming close to having to decide and it’s really hard. A good friend gave me some advice, “we want to extend their life but not extend their death”.
They think it’s heart failure. Essentially, he’s going to drown in his own lung fluid.
I’m in the sad position of wanting to assuage my daughter’s suffering, but not being able to stop these sad things from happening.
All we can do is love each other.

you are a wonderful person and thank you for all that you did for us and still do!
Love to Michael J. Fox, too!
GWB will suffer the same fate as WJC – to come into office with the House and Senate controlled by their party and to leave office by losing the White House and both houses of Congress. How about Hillary Clinton/Nancy Pelosi as the Dem ticket in ‘08?

Not quite what I meant. I meant – does the unusual number of same day registrations – as reported by Billings gazette in a Burns strio strike anybody as suspicious? Not that I want to get into tfh territory. (well, maybe I do). But really, I’m wondering whether this might have any significance, and what it might be.
Another long-time lurker (came OUT once to contribute $$ here and there) –
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you all.
