Trex!!!
Ah, this time I got it.
congrats, RBG - with bold and punctuation! wow
You Rawk!
EPU’d from not-so-late nite FDL. Just cuz TRex rocks.
Nate @ 225
Amen jexter..! I’m there with you. Meat-eating, veteran, full of attitude. Minus the tatoos. (never got drunk enough to get inked, even in Hong Kong or Thailand)
But as I’ve told TRex in the past, he’s like Chicken Soup for the adrenaline-pumped, testosterone sweating, Chick-digging Progressive Warriors’ Soul!
TRex !! CT Rocker. Hey I left a nutty on topic reply to your last post. Dont want to paste it in a rockin’ thread.
I wrote this in 2003 just before Howard Dean’s “September To Remember Tour.” That was back in the day when BFA was da sh!t and the late night place to be.
Tonight it goes out to all who were there, and all you’ve inspired.
Look what you’ve done!
The Deaniac’s Theme Song
TEEEEEE-REXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!
The Daily Show! You’ve hit the really big time!
Can we say we knew you before fame came your way?
Kinda hot, actually.
I missed the Colbert Stewart election night show due to high speed threads. I’ll bet it was a hoot.
Just saw thees jootube cleep over at Eschaton.
Joo were easy to spot weeth that helipad on jour head. ;)
I keed, I keed.
so.
Now I can toddle off to bed. Democratic control of Congress will help me sleep, but a zero on an FDL thread, that’s the cherry on top of a beautiful 24 hours.
Good night all.
TRex @ 9
And my previous thread comment about you in a tight sundress, some hot-librarian tortoise-shell specs and some rouge/eyeliner?
Who out there remembers…
SOYLENT DEAN!!?
Well I suggested, in jest I might add, that TRex could wear Dame Edna type glasses while interviewing Dan Gerstein in CT. Not sure it was funny to the rexter at that time. But hey, I would wear them for such an occasion in a minute!
The 9*1*1 truth movement brought you this day. We ain’t stopping now!
Subway Serenade @ 14
For all its tongue-in-cheekness, I think it mighta lead to a lot of wingnut deepening of bunkers.
They kinda believe this stuff, ya know? *g*
All I could picture was Bugs Bunny in drag.
i luv it when we have late late nite at the lake.
my friends were on The Daily Show. Dressed up and pretty.
WoW!
Night of The Long GOP Knives:

Intesting you should think that. It was mainly an inside joke at the BFA blog and I wasn’t aware that it got much exposure outside the emerging progressive community.
Pur-r-r-rah … pur-r-r-rah … harumph! ‘Scuse me.
“Minute upon minute,” eh? Need a lot more pressure by my standards.
TRex, I noticed the clip choosen by TDS shows you and CHS twice. Nice, very nice.
“I wonder if she’ll blog about that?”
Yep. and so will he. And he. and so on. ;)
Hilarious, that.
NYT:
This right-wing blogger didn’t get the memo.
That’s the guy I overheard at 5:30pm saying there was “no way” the Democrats were going to take the house.
TeddySanFran @ 20
Anything we can do in particular to help these poor, poor critters? More gas for the bonfire perhaps? Salt for the wounds?
Mwwwaaaaahhhhhaaa!
Boy he got a crash course yesterday!

Ok now that’s totally hot!

Anyone catch the Bugman this morning on MSNBC? Curiously and deeply out of touch.
spiderpaws @ 30
And that is different from, uh, when? :)
TRex and Christy representing well … not only looking, well, ironed, but looking about business, like, you know, intelligent people …
Just awoke from a doze to hear that the First Shouter has suddenly decided to get his ass to Michigan to talk to auto presidents after not doing it twice in the last couple months.
LindaR @

As I heard somewhere today:
“We were just one election cycle ahead of our time.”
Has anyone read RedState.com today? After reading a couple of posts and the gist of the comments, I started empathizing with some of those poor lost souls. Talk about wallowing in genuine misery.
LindaR @ 29
Hiya LindaR…
I went back and looked at the last comments we chatted in today but never saw a response. Did you get my last comment?
Nate @ 34
They brought this upon themselves by not thinking critically and refusing to accept the facts. The question is what they’ve brought upon the rest of us.
Susan Kitchens @ 24
Ahhh…our dear friend Susan K. Are you here in peace tonite, or…?
Hi Nate — I guess not. I’ve been off and on all day. Sorry!
SS — “vermonstermash” ha.
I’m convinced Lieberman is going to stab us all in the backs. If he breaks his promise and doesn’t caucus with the Dems, can the people of Connecticut recall him?
spiderpaws from the previous thread:
You know, I bet in November of 1994 in the Clinton White House, as the armies of Mordor amassed outside, they sat down in a war room and were determined to hold the ship together. And they did.
I bet there is no such determination and courage in the Bush White House. They’re all rushing to dig the knives out of their backs and plunge them into someone else’s.
I can’t sleep - got myself all turned around after staying up late last night. Nice to have company here :-)
My eyes are crossing. I thought I was up for some chat but I’m a wimp. ‘Night . . .
LindaR @ 39
Umm, no. They can, however, stuff him in a trash can and beat it with sledgehammers until he rings like a bell and deposit him on a garbage scow headed for China.
Still, the Republican governor of Connecticut can appoint a genuine Republican in his place. So, probably best to simply heap threats on him and hope for the best….
I think I’m going to turn in, too. I have some straightening up to do around here before I can go to bed. Specifically, the cat boxes. The boys will never forgive me if I leave it any longer.
I am watching tonights episode of Charlie Rose and Ken Duberstein former chief of staff, president Reagan Is crediting Newt with the phrase HAD ENOUGH!! Said Newt came up with it six months ago as the one phrase the Dems should run the entire campaign on.
G’nite TRex.
Be well.
TRex @ 40
Because Bushites are soul-less walking near-dead.
Drowning in a puddle’s depth of emotion.
LindaR @

Dunno, probably depends on a state law. But if he went and caucused with GOP, he’d lose seniority, right? Dont’ think he’d do that.
Now, little piecemeal slits on single votes, there’s Joe I bet … or stay independent so SML would have to come to him every time … what it is about these scenarios that beat dealing with a forthright Sen. Lamont (D-CT), I don’t know, I’m only hip to so much arcana.
I guess I should turn into something as well, but I don’t know what. My late brother could walk down the street and turn into a bar…

That should work.
TRex @ 40
Junya reminds me of a drunk driver who only learns one simple lesson: if you move the steering wheel at all, you’re going to hit something. Don’t move it. Not ever!
The lesson never learned is to stop drinking.
I’m guessing that he will become more reality-impaired as he increasingly runs into brick-wall obstacles that are also increasingly being put up around him.
For example, he threw Rummy overboard today, but that won’t change the facts that his definition of “Victory in Iraq” is simply unobtainable. Throwing even more folks overboard will have the very same lack of effect.
In his previous life experiences consisting of endless failures, there has always been somebody, some “papa” figure to come along and bail him out.
There ain’t nobody who can save his ass now, and I’m willing to bet that in the forthcoming 2 years we’ll watch an astonishing, and painful, descent into eunuch-dom that might even result in pity from us.
How low can he go?
Your NSA handler is messing with ya again, Nate. Another forbidden!
Hey Suzanne… Just checked out your site because I haven’t been there in a while. Thanks for linking my James McMurtry video.
Nate @ 55
Nope, not that one either.
Thanks for the visit, Nate, and thanks for reminding me of that video election eve night. That video really summed up the “why” of my vote.
I’m not sure why Suzanne. I’m dropping a link in the comments on your site to a test blog I use to post-n-host stuff. Don’t mind the audio of Henry Rollins that kicks off railing when you check it. It’s good stuff if you listen to it actually. But the top post will have the photo with link.
thanks, nate. it is loading now
Hi TRex,
We saw you on the Jon Stewart show earlier this evening! Giancarlo went, Hey, is that your friend TRex?
My toes are starting to ache–I’ve been twirling around on them all day long.
We are in The House! Hell, we are the House. And now the Senate, too. Hot damn.
nate, that picture is a face fanner for sure
[tiptoes in]
Is anybody awake yet? No.
Everybody sound asleep.
I’ll come back later.
Sleep well, Firepups. You’ve earned your rest.
Congrats to all here.
Now that the Senate is Democratic, one of priorities will be to get the work of the Intelligence Committee done (re-done/released) that’s been stalled by KS Sen Pat Roberts as Chairman.
Trying not to be controversial or starting a circular firing squad but do you want to see Rockefeller as Chairman? Will the Chairmanships be handed out based solely on seniority or would it be possible to have a Feingold moved up to Intel Chair over a Rockefeller, who didn’t seem to put up much of a struggle as minority Vice Chairman?
TeddySanFran @
20
It’s about time they were the ones to form a circular firing squad.
Mornin’.
Did I miss anything last night :)
Washington Post says Northern Virginia suburbs key to Webb success. How about that.
Ok, WHO’S NEXT? We are still taking names and still kicking butt.
TVRex!
Good morning! And goodnight!
Thanks for all you do, Egregious.
Good morning, everyone. A very quiet night, I see. Before I go and make myself some tea I’ll drop these off for anyone who’s awake:
Today’s NYT columnists, from behind the firewall:
http://select.nytimes.com/2006.....amp;emc=th
Bob Herbert, “Ms. Speaker and Other Trends.” The first line is “Sometimes you can actually feel the winds of history blowing.
http://select.nytimes.com/2006.....amp;emc=th
David “Bobo” Brooks, “The Middle Muscles In.” Y’all know what he’s going to say…
http://select.nytimes.com/2006.....amp;emc=th
Maureen “MoDo” Dowd, “A Come-to-Daddy Moment.” The first graf is “Poppy Bush and James Baker gave Sonny the presidency to play with and he broke it. So now they’re taking it back.
I don’t usually quote first lines, but those two were just too yummy…
Damn, I would have scared them all away TRex/
John Amato
Good Morning, Firedogs!
I hope everyone’s feeling well-rested. I’m still in that “kicking butt” mode that egregious mentioned above. I’d really like to see neo-conservatism totally discredited, but am too much of a realist to believe that I’ll see Darth Cheney and the cabal shriveling up with cries of “I’m melting, I’m melting!” {Altho’ it is a nice fantasy.]
I’m hopeful that James Baker and the other adults from Poppy’s team will help the Deciderer find a way out of Iraq, saving lives of both our own military and the Iraqi people. I’m not sanguine that Iraq will manage to avoid a civil war. I fear there has been to much Sunni-Shia retribution igniting those fires already.
But I believe that the cabal has lost enough power that they won’t be able to start WWWIII by bombing Iran.
There was a very good discussion over at Tapped about Pelosi taking impeachment “off the table. The consensus opinion there was that it’s a good conciliatory statement now. If investigations led by Chairman Conyers, and others, expose impeachable offenses, then Congress can choose to impeach. Personally, I think impeachment is too good for Dubya–I’d like to see him [along with Cheney, Rummy, and Condi] in the dock in the Hague for war crimes.
It’s pretty mild today here in central Jersey. The heavy rains yesterday brought down lots of autumn leaves. But nothing could dampen spirits–a lot of people wore blue yesterday!
I’ve made some coffee, and the kettle’s on for tea. How about some cinnamon scones this morning?
tee hee!! too cool, trex!
John I can’t believe you and Christy had never met before.
Kon ban wa, medaka!
Marion -
Many thanks for the linkys……..looooooved the Dowd…….& the smell of cinnamon in the morning!
Cinnamon scones, aye lassie, if ye please!
egregious @ 76
Hi, egregious!
I shook hands with the Dalai Lama today. Talk about maintaining the high!
He came to my school, no media or anything, and talked to my students for an hour — all 3500 of them on the football field, 12-18 yrs old. It was pretty intense.
Question-Does this new Nixon Zombie replacement for Rumsfeld have to be approved by congress?
Another question-do you people ever sleep?
Medaka, what a day to remember. I have high respect for the Dalai Lama.
Things going well on non-Lama days?
Howdy, folks. njp, those scones sound great… *g*
Even how, I admit that I’m still in happy shock about what happened Tuesday, especially for my former citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. One of the big take-home messages there seems to be that the sleeping giant of Northern Virginia has indeed awoken. Have a great morning, everyone!
Waccamaw @
77
You’re most welcome. I try to drop them off every morning somewhere between 6 and 7 before I head off to work, so on really busy nights that’s the time to look for.
Pete, I’m on the east coast so I already did sleep. Medaka’s in Japan. So we’ve got the timezones pretty well covered. Fdl rules the world!
egregious @ 81
It was pretty rough when all the company was coming and going, but now everything is very smooth: clear and very dry blue skies.
How are you doing? Any more plans to travel and save lives?
egregious @ 84
What, so not everyone starts work at 6am (mountain)? I guess I’m the one who’s out of whack with the civilised world.
It’s been a heavy week. Pulling myself up out of that now.
Rather like coming home from Russia, time to
Rest
Reflect
Resume healthy habits
Am planning trip # 29 to Russia. I need a little time to catch my breath so the trip is prob January.
What occurred to me as I woke up this morning is that in order to see if Du(m)bya really means what he says about being bipartisan a way to test it would be with a rational immigration policy. That’s the only thing in the world I come anywhere close to agreeing with him on. Use that as the carrot to get the minimum wage bill passed? I realize a bunch of our guys ran campaigns screeching about illegal aliens but they may have to be dragged back into the “reality based” community. Thoughts, anyone?
PeteCO @ 86
Oh, PeteCO, did they forget to CC you? The civilized world has been cancelled due to so much incivility. We now have to make it ourselves, from scratch. Which seems to be what all these tubes are for.
I think immigration is the new third rail of politics. Lot of hype and strong feelings, but not very many workable solutions. It’s worth discussing, definitely, I just don’t see a consensus any time soon.
medaka @ 89
Hope I didn’t wake anyone up with my laughing.
egregious @ 87
Start with them thar healthy habits! Makes the rest much easier and deeper. Which kicks in the powers of reflection … at least that seems to be how it works for me …
Is it safe to zig again? We were supposed to stifle our urge to requote people during election coverage.
Medaka,
I didn’t know you were in Japan when I gave you the time I drop the NYT links off. I’m on the east coast, so what’s 6 for me shows up on the time stamp as 3. (I’ve always wanted to visit Japan… Maybe one day I’ll get to see Katsura…)
Good morning FDL, I’ve got the coffee brewing and biscuits in the oven. And oddly, I’m up early this morning.
Medaka what a thrill to see the Dalai Lama! Oh, and I checked out your website again, stunning, absolutely stunning fabrics there.
Fresh pot of coffee, folks. Gotta run!
egregious @ 93
I pouted about that yesterday, as I zigged. I think it was mainly for election night. Hell, let’s just start and see if we get spanked!
egregious @ 93
That was punaise’s ziggurat-thing, wasn’t it.
What was that all about? Quick guess: don’t quote quotes, as it puts boxes in boxes in boxes and eventually the words disappear when the box becomes too tiny — or something like that?
I remember breaking the margins here trying to do the same thing one late night back in the summer. Pach or JohnC had to come in and clean up after us …
Marion in Savannah @ 94
Hi Marion. Here on the other edge time is pretty relative — I don’t get to hang out for the long hard threads in the daytime, and I tend to fall asleep just as everyone’s coffee is kicking in. And when I get busy and stressed I disappear.
Do come to Japan, if you ever have the chance. It’s still pretty through-the-looking-glass at times, even after 17 yrs…
I’m up too early, this’ll get epu’d
already the Iraqi’s have a brighter future under democratic leadership;
as I’ve said ad infinitum, the democrats are the only chance the Iraqi’s have for a free society and the democrats have proven their superior ability already
the democrats are calling for a bi partisan summit, and they mean it
that’s right, even though they have control, they want a bi partisan solution…they realize, (they better), nothing else will work
what does this mean;
input from the staunchest supporters of the Iraqi initiative, solutions, not yes men, not people willing to turn their head even though they are told the decisions being made fly in the face of military wisdom
you see, the problem is the republicans weren’t willing to hold the administration’s feet to the fire, the president said “I want to do it this way” and the republicans afraid of loosing their campaign funding fell in lock step
that can never happen, in America we understand an administration makes mistakes all the time and we HAVE to have input
so at the summit, the democrats will push for an early withdrawal, the republicans will also be pushing for an early withdrawal but they will try to look more firm in what needs to be accomplished first
the democrats will agree
there need to be accomplishments before withdrawal, everyone knows this, and those accomplishments will be set to a time line, if the time line isn’t met we will regroup and keep trying until our goals are met
once the goals are met, bing, troops out
the goals?
I don’t know, I am out of that loop, I know as a fact the theocracy in place in Iraq calls for extreme Muslim law, this to me is not acceptable and I would try to somehow turn that around, it might be too late for that.
one goal would be to establish the political force that needs to be there instead of our soldiers
the soldiers can’t leave until there is a force in place trained to deal with the Iraqi issues, but that needs to be amassed as soon as possible.
once we are out, there will be less insurgency, it might break down into three separate countries, maybe two, nobody knows yet, but as far as I’m concerned, three countries are better then one in this situation
anyway, we are now that the party that knows how to handle national security is back in charge a plan will finally be developed, a plan put together by the military EXPERTS, the professionals, and people from both sides of the aisle looking at every possible point of view.
finally we will get a plan for Iraq, the process has already begun
Nanct Pelosi has already shown us why America chose her to be in charge of congress, she has already shown the leadership sorely lacking from the republican party and it looks like America will beging moving forward instead of backward.
things are starting to bode well for our military, the Iraqi people and the future of America
now, this Iraqi engagement might actually succeed, the president might yet realize vindication for this inititiative
this ovre turn might be the very best thing to happen to this president, allready the REAL republicans are saying throw ALL the neo cons out, as I have always said, my principles are founded in republican ideals and the republians might be reclaiming their party
egregious @ 93
zag
medaka @ 89
Seems to be working pretty well so far.
Must run, I’ve got a beast to feed. Have a good day, all.
Democrats take the Senate, House, Governors, and state legislatures.
I guess the terrorists won! Why do Democrats hate our democratic freedoms, like free elections?
some typos, on ie so I can’t correct
anyway, when I say my ideals are rpublcian based, they are progressive in application
I think one of the best thing nancy is suggesting right now is some kind of campaign reform
this is what America needs more then anyone knows
we need to take corporations influence out of politics, they can’t be allowed to buy law
there’s really only one way to accomplish that, public financing of caompaings in an opt in opt out formulation
TeddySanFran @ 20
My favorite line:
“This election isn’t a repudiation of the GOP…”
Bwahahaha!!
One of the morning news anchors just barely avoided referring to the outgoing SecDef as “Ronald Dumbsfeld” - I love it!
Our next short term goal should be to help Ciro Rodriuguez (sp? sorry) in TX. There is a diary (with the name spelled corrected) about how there is now a runoff for that seat. It asks for help and gearing up the ActBlue page for him and highlighting that race.
Let’s take that seat too, shall we? :) And that race is next month so we won’t have to wait long. I want to make our gains in the House an even 30.
“IN A BIPARTISAN WAY”
MAN, that sounds like juvenile English.
better;
“bipartisan agenda”
“bipartisan direction”
bipartisan method”
anyone else?
Sure:
Progressive agenda
Progressive direction
Progressive method
Dowd, “So it was just that the American people were too dumb to understand? W. also managed to bash Vietnam vets, saying that this war isn’t similar because there’s a volunteer army, so “the troops understand the consequences of Iraq in the global war on terror.” Is that why W. stayed out of Vietnam? Because he understood it?”
perris @ 108
Well, I know I prefer caucusing with my own, but just ask Kinsey — when it comes down to it, everyone is basically biparitsan to a certain degree, or at least can be when the need arises, right?
