CNN is calling NJ for Menendez, Ohio for Brown and Pennsylvania for Casey.
Harold Ford, the hand-picked Chuck Schumer candidate running in Tennessee, is getting his ass kicked. I guess that Newsweek cover talking about the triumph of the New Conservative Democrat was a bit premature.

Nobody is happy that Ford is getting his ass kicked, but he was a bad candidate.
top-of-thread courtesy reminder:
1. let’s try to avoid looming ziggurats (i.e. don’t requote a comment more than once or twice – remove blockquotes if necessary – this helps the toobz)
2. do not quote a troll, ’cause then it gets perpetuated and can’t be scrubbed. in fact, ignore trolls…if any show up
3. Go Ned!

Hoo boy…
me to me @ 184
Here.
Joe is still a loser in real time. Like right now.
We gotta get Tester and McCaskill. Webb is giving me a coronary here.
Reporting in from Blue Army Duty Afield
Canvassed 92 registered-D homes in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District (”Home of the Robocall”) up to poll-closing time. Contacted 62 residents. 52 had voted already. 4 got in their cars and left to vote immediately after canvas. 1 was obviously sick; others either said they would vote or had lame excuses.
Compared to district-walking in 2004 in New Hampshire, this was much higher turnout. Knock on wood, good results for Hodes may follow in his challenge to GOPer Bass.
An observation: birdfeeders are a surefire sign of a registered Democrat’s residence.
A Chaffee loss would be really heartening.
ccmask @ 204
ccmask — google Nelson Rockefeller. No reason people can’t go with a smile on their faces!
Right Back at ya Mrs. K8 – so many of the homies from the days of 42 comment threads are here – perfect !
I actually have a special glass for my libations tonight – Barkeep, a round for the house !!

Seems there is still more than 500K votes outstanding in VA.
Look at who has reported; none of the urban centers yet:
http://election.cbsnews.com/ca…..sdiction=0
Looking at the CNN numbers at http://tinyurl.com/ylft77 , if I were Lamont, I wouldn’t concede just yet.
Are the VA absentee ballots already counted?
{{{Siun}}}
Prediction: Lamont takes Connecticut. In the coming days, pollsters will realize that the exit polls were wrong because a lot of people SAID they voted for him because the recognized his name when the pollster read it to them.

Here’s to you and all the Firepups! I lift my glass in salute to all patriots here. (Even though it’s just seltzer, punctuated by a sip from my coffee mug. Nonetheless, still a sweet toast.)

faced with a choice of two theocratic candidates, 20,000 people chose someone else.
I wonder when Rahm and the other corporate whores in the Dem leadership will realize:
1) Green voters owe them nothing, and often despise them for selling out via the DLC.
2) The Dem leaders seem to think they need Green votes to win – gee – maybe selecting fundy candidates won’t work for these voters.
3) Selecting “republican-lite” values in the candidates Rahm promotes will lose Green voters. Duh.
Hey Riesz Fischer at 47, I’ve decided to stifle the tears and have a beer. Renewed hope in the great state of MI. As far as Joe L. being called the projected winner, how about we hold him to all the things he said. We can make life miserable for him.

In Minnesota, Patti Wetterling (Democrat) is winning over the beastly witch Barbara Bachman for Congress. Bachman announced in a megachurch that God told her to run. Her reputation is based on her opposition to gays and gay marriage. It will be very sweet if she loses.

Hyperactive kids grow up, & I suspect few of them “outgrow” the symptoms. Many, however, learn how to mask them better than Tweety does. Yes, he ends up looking, and acting, like an idiot…
Has Man-On-Dog conceded yet?
dr bloor at 261, it sure does ring a bell. Ha-ha
Tweety’s a jerk.
“Do they just hate Bush so much?” re Rhode Island.
Bad bad Tweety.
Koheleth @ 267
I absolutely love God’s sense of humor.
A morgue generates more heat than the Fox news room tonite.
Mrs. K8 – I have two of those – they were my grandma’s (from FDR’s lst re election) – just happened to find their pic on line
Mrs. K8 @ 272
Yes Chris, we do.
I told you already—Tweety’s problem is that he’s a drunk.
Nothing more than that.
cleter @ 263
Net of 2. Pickups in PA, OH, and RI. Loss in CT.
What the hell is going on in Missouri?
Oh, Oh PATTY – I will drink some wine if Patty wins. And I am a very bad drinker. Last time I had one (yes ONE) wine cooler, I ended up taking the kitchen shears and deciding I had too much hair and needed a haircut. My children used to urge me to have a drink just so the amusement could commence. Have not had a drink in years.
but I will, if Hatch, Amy and Patty all win. Too much to hope for Colleen too, I suppose.

Has there been any prediction of Blue America winners?

You’re so lucky to have them. I’m jealous! Enjoy toasting from them — you deserve every drop for all the hard work you do.
Va Senate,,It’s down to ~six precincts in Arlington Co. Jebus!
dr. bloor @ 277
Actually, I think “despise” is the more accurate word.
I’m not conceding Ned just yet: not until the last vote is counted and documented. Go NED!
Are Shays and Johnson getting the boot?
Steve @ 284
Ok, not good on Va. geography. Is that good or bad?
Am so enjoying Fox News for the first time evah… many long faces :(( they look like they need transfusions and Michelle seems so bummed – poor baby!!! She called Ned “the first youtube candidate”…blood sugar getting low…gotta run to Japanese take out…
http://americablog.blogspot.co…..bitch.html
I think it’s not a question of hating BUSH so much as hating what he’s done to this country we love and to the world.
THAT’S what pisses me off. Tweety picks up the GOP meme of “irrational Bush haters.”
neurophius, no idea about our BA candidates. I’m watching CNN, and also streaming MSNBC online here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8004316/
@288 That’s NOVA #1 Webb county
For what’s it worth I’m writing MSNBC now. If only that f#$k wad Tweety had demanded some f#@&*(%g answers from the people who HAVE been in congress about this war. Grrrrr
TV-3 made passing reference to the CT Sen. 1% returns w/Jozo 48/Ned 44 (approx) matching what their exit poll said. Then, hushed p. Seeed like they didn’t want to let cat out of bag so soon. Then, they went and made a ‘call’ for Jozo next break.
Me, I’m with Yogi Berra: “It ain’t over till it’s OVER.’
Total votes with all precincts reporting.

Speaking of the Green Party, it looks like maybe that political genius Rahm Emanuel missed an opportunity here:

Mrs. K8 @ 291
It is only about our country, Mrs. K8– I am praying here with goosebumps.
bloggers coming up on cnn.
Allen leads by 1500 votes and Webb closing
I repeat, Tweety is getting way too much of the camera tonight.
My wife said, “I don’t think he should be playing Hardball on election night.”
I agree. What a blowhard.
The Draconian anti-gay-rights measure in Virginia is headed for passage. I already have tickets to go home for Thanksgiving this year, but I think I’m going to pass on Christmas.
Whatever happens in CT we should banish Lieberghoul.I would not touch him with Haggard’s shrivelled stump. Go Ned!
Webb’s now trailing by less than 2000 votes at 9:48 PM EST:
G F Allen Republican 966,232 49.43%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 964,899 49.37%
G G Parker Independent Green 21,650 1.11%
Write Ins 1,831 0.09%
Precincts Reporting: 2117 of 2443 (86.66%)
MSNBC says Allen is leading Webb by 30,000 votes.
Are they getting different numbers than people here have been reporting?
neurophius @ 305
Probably. That was true about an hour ago.
Question for Virginians: Who the hell is voting for the Green candidate?
neurophius –
No. They’re just not using up-to-the-minute info, apparently. And that surprises me.
bloggers live now
Christy on CNN!
Christy on CNN!
@304 I am reading off of the Virginia State site, which is updated every 2 mins
Go girl!
Bad news in a new thread
Christy!
Sure would like to have some o’ them 20k Greens in VA, dammit.
Who is this right-wing jerk blogger CNN is interviewing now? I missed Christy.
Brutally, it is over in Connecticut, says CTBob, Kirby, and the Lamont Campaign’s blogger room.
Joseph Lieberman has conned Connecticut again.
For shame, for shame, for SHAME on the voters who bought the lies, and the media who blocked the truth.
America will pay the price.
Ned – I don’t blame you for a thing about this loss. A state (and a political party) that can’t make the principled choice between two such candidates has the government it deserves (since the web is readily available today for those voters stranded in the corporate media’s blackout zone of propaganda).
I’m shocked at the (plurality of) voters in Connecticut.
[Maura, Tom, Tim, David et al - you done did GOOD.]
Not looking good for Webb..shit
Kirk murphy 201
Not going to get in a twit over it right now, but NO, he’s not pro-torture. I think when we all calm down & analyze what went on with that vote, it may come down to a procedural vote judgement call by leadership to try to force the issue straight into courts sooner rather than later.
I do trust Brown will prove himself to you and other progressives over time. We’ve been aware of his voting record, leadership, and activism for many years. So I’m glad he’s won the chance to prove himself in the Senate. I hope and trust he will prove himself to be worthy, since he has in the past.
Time will tell…
No – can’t believe Ned just conceded! I won’t believe it’s over until every d–n precinct is counted.
And the same with Webb in Virginia – wa-a-ay too close to call.
Even if Ned did lose, what Christy said on CNN is so true – he rocked the political world, fought a good fight, and triggered a big part of this wave of dem wins.
(btw, could you believe that RedState guy’s smugness? even the reporter laughed at him)
Adie @ 318
But he DID vote for Bush’s torture bill.
He didn’t hae to do that.
He didn’t have to do that
Time for a little psychodRahma on CNN
