Let me introduce the world to some new realities:
Karl Rove is not a genius. He is the author of the biggest GOP defeat in most of our lifetimes.
America really hates George Bush. Tonight, America said to George Bush, STFU and cut the dumb shit. Bring the troops home, pronto.
America is helping Democrats to pitch a shutout so far, holding all their seats, completely overturning the GOP revolution of 1994 in the House. The Senate looks to me like a 51 vote win for the Dems now.
Thanks, Karl.
What we talked about earlier this week is holding up: the Old Confederacy is the big loser tonight, relegated to the minority in the House. There is no reason, none, nada, zilch, to allow legislation in the House to be held hostage to Southern authoritarian Theocrats and racists anymore. Buh-bye.
Meet the losers, folks: Karl Rove, George Bush and the Republicans.

Victory!
But we still need to purge our own party of traitors. That starts tomorrow.
great job holding down the night shift, Pach
*singing*
Nah nah nah nah…Nah nah nah nah, hey hey…
CNN now saying there may not be a recount in Virginia.
Yes! Thank you, Pach! Did you see my question down thread re: Ms. Amy Walters?
Toobin is making sense, too.
#4 – Agreed.

Jacqrat @ 8
I’ll defer to Howie on that. He’s the expert.
Pach – you rock!
Tweety is such a dick! He just slammed Olbermann–said that it’s best to pick on someone bigger than you–like Keith does to Bill O’Reilly. Fuck you tweety. Your brother’s a loser and so are you.
How delicious.
How badly did Katherine Harris do tonight?
Yeah Dems…so happy but I must sleep. I am sending karma to the Webb campaign! I think he will put it out and we will have the Senate.
Now the Dems have to govern. Not fight each other govern and find some consensus.
foxhunter @ 10
It started with the Connecticut primary.
It started with Jane telling us about Ned.

And on MSNBC they were just discussing how there could possibly NOT be one.
And Tweety referred to Allen’s Presidential aspirations. I threw up in my mouth a little.
Can I please go to sleep now? Nearly 3am. I promise to get up and save the country/world again tomorrow.
Suzanne @ 18
Now there’s a bedtime story for you.
Once upon a time, there was a little blogger named Jane . . .
CNN all but calling Virginia for Webb.
Pachacutec @ 12
Thanks for the response: I thought since she was a local gal, you might know. Oh well.
Let’s not forget the other losers: THE NEOCONS
The Neocon agenda was rejected as clearly as the Rove/Delay GOP bullying tactics.
No matter what the Dems do to move the country forward, every minute they drill those two points home over the next few months will be a minute well spent.
Terrapin @ 23
I’d love for them to run Maccawitz!!!

Hey, props to the Northern Virginia and Richmond City elections officials that are staying late and counting the vote. It’ll be great when people wake up, look at the tee vee or the paper and see Webb up by close to or more than 10K votes. That’s huge.
A lot different than 2K votes.
pac, thanks. this is the essential point — rove was NEVER a genius. he was just lee atwater’s most attentive amoral student.
that is, rove was willing to do what few had ever been willing to do before him, and certainly never on so large and so public a stage.
he was a sociopath, willing to degrade himself, his party, american politics and the entire nation in pursuit of his objectives, which were never anything more or less than those of any crook: power unlawfully gained.
maybe, just maybe, the fascination with this time of shameless behavior has crested;
maybe we can get a little more civil as we get a little more competent in trying to restore to all americans a greater sense of what this country has meant and could mean again.
probably not. but as much as any other part of an agenda moving forward, this effort — to restrain the worst impulses, the hatemongering, the triumph of the mob, the goon, the stupid — should be articulated and embraced by the democratic party.
let the repugs be defined by their worst behavior; the dems should pointedly embrace the best.
From Howie by email:
So… what if Loserman decides to caucus with the Repuglicans and we go to 50-50… then Cheney breaks the tie.
But at least for the next two years, Shooter is tied to his chair in the Senate and can’t be in his undisclosed location biting the heads off of puppies (or whatever ritual he practices there)!

Bonus: Joe Lieberman becomes the new Linda Tripp. SNL will have to get John Goodman to play him.
Allen is going to have to think long and hard about a recount. What with having the FBI investigation of robo-call intimidation gaining steam, not sure he wants to have those two stories goiong side by side. Especially with all that wire-tapping over at the CIA and their newfound spirit of intelligence sharing I bet it’s already been figured out who was making those calls….

Hey George & Karl, time to start singin :
“A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt…” – Thomas Jefferson
Pach – how does it feel? awesome. major step forward.
Jacqrat @ 37
Yeah, but those guys are trying to suggest that their stupid 90s-think-tank schemes are still peachy, but the execution was poor. Democrats need to use this tidal wave as an opportunity to wash that myth away immediately.
History is written by the winners. The Dems need to start writing and the neocon nightmare deserves a particularly harsh closing chapter.

As much as I’m enjoying this evening, I find myself wanting to evoke the sentiment of Ezekiel 25 – 17 (even though I’m an atheist) upon those who failed to suport Ned
“The path of the righeous man is beset on all sides by the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who inthe name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers, and you will know my name is the LORD, WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON THEE.”
Screw bipartisanship, screw party unity. Destroy the traitors. Our own party needs some cleansing.

Ego? I agree, it’s not likely. It would have been more likely if he’d lost the primary and accepted defeat, or had lost in the general election.
I never quite got the reason why he was on the short list for the job, except that he would do whatever President Cheney wanted him to do. He certainly doesn’t know a damned thing about running the DoD (although I’m sure he’d know how to steer contracts to the Bushies’ friends).

He’s going to have allies in Schumer and Emmanuel to do it.

Peterr is nearly right: Pombo is stuck at a 48-52 deficit, with 71% counted. GOP Boy is running out of room.

Quick question, though — why on earth are Dems saying that they want to work with the other side, that they want to work with Bush?
Are they nuts? That’s not the message the American people sent tonight. These two years are about keeping Bush from screwing up more and cleaning up the crap the repub congress has spewed for the past 12 years.
They’re just stalling, right? I can’t imagine that the ranking members-turned-committee chairs (Waxman, Conyers, et al. – whoo hoo!!) are going to want to join hands, forget everything, and move forward. That’s how we got in this mess in the first place.
That’s probably what the media wants to hear right now, though (except Tweety. Gah, he annoys me. Let KO talk!!!!).

And two of the Republican half of the “gang of 14″ are gone, which means that the Dems could more easily sustain a fillibuster should the Shrub nominate a wingnut.
Rahm was part loser too. Kissell is in recount territory; Farrell and Duckworth, not so much. How many millions went into those two D-trip races, when others could have tilted with a bit of love?
HoJoe will be demanding his purse filled for such rude treatment over the past year. The Party of Incumbency will doubtless satisfy him.
And yet, it’s been an important lesson for the netroots: they entered as the Them in the Us/Them partisan divide, and now there are elected candidates who are Them too. The Thems have a stake in both houses.

Except…I still have nothing resembling representation here in AZ. I’m very, very happy about Harry Mitchell, but sad to say, we’re not in his district. Stuck with that creep, Shadegg. And two thug senators. None of these people return my letters or respond to my phone calls.
Oh well.
That’s just our household being wistfully envious of those of you with new Democratic representation. We are truly joyful that the nation has been pulled back from the brink.
Can’t wait to see Little Boots tomorrow. In the Rose Garden perhaps? It’ll be interesting to see just how delusional he still is, now that he’s been slapped ringingly across the face.
Of course, the other thing that sticks in my craw is that neocon-in-Dem’s-clothing up in Connecticut. We definitely still have a Lieberman problem, and I need to go back down a couple threads to see what the great minds here have considered as possibilities. Personally, I’d love to see him get indicted over that slush fund, or over any other crime he may have commited in his greedy, bullying “campaign.” I just wish that CT’s governor weren’t Red.
But don’t get me wrong. I’m a very happy camper tonight.
And I thank every single one of the Firepups for all the glorious blood, sweat, and tears expended to get us to this precise moment.
Blessings on you all!
And tomorrow the fight is renewed — on a new level.

Love how Hollywood confuses Alberta with Wyoming and BC with Alaska. I think it has as much to do with Canadian union wages and production add-ons as with the incredibly beautiful scenery of Alberta’s Rockies or the BC Coastal Range.

A Republican Questions Why They Lost
Karl Rove fell asleep tonight sucking his right thumb while he cuddled with his “banky,” slowing stroking his nose with his right index finger, thinking “How could I be so Right and so wrong at the same time? Is it possible I’m gay?”
Tester still up by 2 points. 78% reporting.

You should see how they confuse neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
Bloggers on CNN
Burns campaign is raising concerns about “electronic voting machine irregularities in heavily republican districts” which is causing the delay in counts. Tester is supposed to speak in about 30 min.
Jeralyn from TalkLeft on CNN.
Ooh, CNN’s back at Tryst.
The party of Mike Jones spanks the party of Ted Haggard. And does a few other things, too!
They’re rerunning Christy on CNN!
Woohoo! CNN just replayed Christy’s sound bite.
Meet Brian Bilbray:
“At a campaign party at downtown San Diego’s U.S. Grant Hotel, Bilbray said his stance on illegal immigration gave him the edge over Busby.
“The fact is that in North County you can’t drive around the corner without seeing illegal immigrants flaunting an amnesty program,” he said. “You can’t go to the Home Depot without being overrun.”
Nice.
New thread!
Get it while it’s hot!
