With 78.4% of precincts counted, Yarmuth continues to lead Northup. He's got 94,401 (50.4%) votes to her 90,691 (48.4%).
With 10% of the precincts counted in KY-02 Weaver and Lewis are within 90 votes of each other!
Indiana is starting to have some significant returns now too. Donnelly has pulled ahead of Chocola 59% to 41% with 26% of precincts counted. Hayhurst will be giving Souder a run for his money in the 3rd, although with only 18% of votes counted it's too early to say what the final result will be. This is a real longshot for a Democrat and Hayhurst is less than 2,000 votes behind. And in the "bloody 8th" Ellsworth continues to trounce Hostettler: 34% of precinct reporting and Ellsworth has 62% of the vote. 24% of the precincts are counted in IN-09 and former Congressman Baron Hill has a 2% lead over whacky wing-nut Mike Sodrel.
(CNN is projecting Ellsworth as the winner, the first House pickup that the Democrats need; 14 to go — JH)

Oh these gasbags talking about the “conservative Democrats who will have to be listened to.” The “CNN brain trust.” Aaugh.
I had to switch channels after I heard that. I’d rather listen to Dean on MSNBC
Glad I’m not the only one about to throw something (not my wine, something else) at the TV!
Conservative Demos? I don’t think so. We’re coming for you guys. Soon.
Tweety grilling Dean on abortion… not in the mood!
CNN calls New Jersey for Menendez.
late to the pre-party (?) after a three hour meeting and then voting en famille. any news from CT?

Menendez wins in N.J. ‘Tis sweet. The wave is building.
No voting numbers yet, but IIRC, the early Exit polls showed Ned leading by a smidgen. Joe says it will a long night. Q Poll was a

CNN exit polls for CT are depressing, and hopefully dead wrong

No word yet on CT? None?
Man, this is going to be a long night.
Coffee, check. Wine, check. FDL, check.
I WANT NUMBERS!
Jane Hamsher @ 2
Another oxymoron…or is that maroons?
Does ANYBODY have a sock to stuff in Tweety’s mouth? Cripes…
We ran who we had to run to win in certain races. It’s not about whether or not we listen to conservatives, but listen to the voters.
Fuck ‘em.
VA is killing me
I don’t know what this means but the NBC channel is showing stats from CT ‘w/ 0 percent reporting’ and they are very favorable to Lamont. Go look….not MSNBC but the regular NBC station

Mad Dogs @ 19
They really are hoping beyond hope that the Dems are going to elect a platoon of Zell Millers, aren’t they? I think this is one of those, “uh, we’ve been saying the country has gone completely conservative, so, therefore, it must be, and we can’t possibly be wrong, can we?” routines….
Tweety hammering Frist.

If the pundtwits are correct it’s gonna be OK in VA (ie. large % of urban precincts to come).

sorry to be dense – but what’s up with the cnn.com blogfest – is it still going on?
Exit polling(CNN) say educated youth for Lamont, the partially educated and elderly for well, you know who.
I think I now know what it is to be epu’d!
Sherrod in Ohio!
Tucker carlson is such a little B*tch
Anyone here who would rather hear what Christy Hardin Smith and MaryKatharine Ham have to say, instead of the CNN Brain Trust?
yeah, i though so.
RossK @ 26
Argh. I hope so.
Living in Texas, I have to get excited about races vicariously. Ours are interesting only in the way of watching slow motion car-wrecks, and maybe one of them has a monster truck.

It’s the town of Caanan. Ultra wealthy(next to Greenwich) The interesting part is schlessinger taking 10% WTIC.com has town by town results for CT

Argh! It’s so infuriating! Of course it immediately brings to light those who must be replaced…)
We’ve had a lot of good CNN photos of Christy, TRex, and Jeralyn, but no soundbytes, that I recall.
CTBob is showing a 50 – 41 lead (10% in) for Lieberman with votes from the Naugatuck Valley, which is supposed to be a Lieberman stronghold.
So goes Ohio; so goes the presidency in 2008.
Hope all you Buckeye ‘Pups have your TORTURE letters ready to send to your Senator-elect, who beat the incumbent DESPITE the execrable vote he took.

There is one 2008 guy down, at least one more to go (Allen)
Howard Dean just got a taste of what Dems will have to face if this turns out to be the upset we hope:
Matthews demanding a date for troop withdrawal from Dean – all of a sudden he wants to know how Dems could possibly let one more soldier die in Iraq. Oh, NOW he’s questioning the war.
All Dems should ask Matthews: where was this tough talk in 2003? How about when 1000 troops were killed, how about when 2000 were killed?
Bastard.
Winning will be just the beginning of this fight.
thanks again John Casper
Wrt CNN, Begala has been excellent imho and we’re hoping they will interview Christy and TRex.
With that said, I seem to be spending a lot more time over at MSNBC.

Weird…I got the opposite impression from CNN’s comment about the CT race, which was all about Joe…nothing like a 0/0 board to project your fantasies and fears, I guess…

Correction, Leslie, Menendez was NOT re-elected. He was simply elected to his own full term, having been appointed by his predecessor who had become the Governor.
sheesh.

TAP, TAP(baton)-’Oh what a night.’ Must grab some popcorn and be off to down to Election Central or Central America.
Double goes for me! You with stronger stomachs can watch the TV, I’ll stay here and man the ramparts!
It looks like Schlesinger is polling in the double digits (albeit rather early) like y’all predicted (and not the single digits Lieberwhatever would have you believe).
I felt a twinge of guilt when a did a huge “Yess!” at the news of people not voting for Leiberwhatever because they couldn’t find his name. Everyone should be able to vote the way they want without problems…but Lord forgive me I was happy at the news.

For Joe Lieberman (R-asshole), an accounting lesson:
Can’t Buy Me Love
Lennon/McCartney
Can’t buy me love, love,
Can’t buy me love.
I’ll buy you a diamond ring my friend,
If it makes you feel alright,
I’ll buy you anything my friend,
If it makes you feel alright,
For I don’t care too much for money,
For money can’t buy me love.
I’ll give you all I’ve got to give,
If you say you love me too,
I may not have a lot to give,
But what I’ve got I’ll give to you,
For I don’t care too much for money.
For money can’t buy me love.
Can’t buy me love, ev’rybody tells me so,
Can’t buy me love, no, no, no, no.
Say you don’t want no diamond ring,
And I’ll be satisfied,
Tell me that you want the kind of things,
That money just can’t buy,
For I don’t care to much for money.
For money can’t buy me love.
Can’t buy me love, ev’rybody tells me so,
Can’t buy me love, no, no, no, no.
Can’t buy me love, love,
Can’t buy me love.

I am not seeing the wave yet — does anyone see it coming? The Virginia race is very much a downer. I thought that would go for Webb and we might lose Montana – since all the ‘knowitalls’ are saying that. But everyone believed that Webb would be able to pull the veteran vote. He did not do that in big enough numbers yet I guess.
me4, jackie
WTIC shows:
44-44-11 Lamont – Lieberman – Schlesinger
Only 4,000 votes in.
Aack. So nervous. Must say, I enjoyed voting against Krazy Katherine Harris today. Wish the Webb numbers looked better.

Marion –
Well at least we won’t be blindsided. Election night isn’t even over and they’re already starting in on us.
I agree – Where is Olbermann?? We want Olbermann
We want Olbermann,

Not to fret or feel any twinge of guilt whatsoever. If you want to vote for someone badly enough you’ll find their name. Unless somebody shows me a ballot where his name was missing I’ve got no time for their whining (and even less for his) about how HARD it was to find him… It’s crap, and he knows it.

That is good news about Amy. We got rid of Kennedy. That puts a smile on my face. Come on Hatch – do it. And Patty, I am praying mightily – those last minute robo calls against you were really bad.

Winning NJ, PA and OH so early so quickly is really sweet.
Let’s see how the next tier down goes now. That’s MD, VA, NC, TN, MO.
To see a wave we’ll need to see more races which are likely to be a bit closer all swinging Dem. That’ll take some time.
Matthews just called Connecticut for Lieberman? Based on what?
LJ/A–
I am now starting to feel your pessimism in VA…
(sure hope he sticks with his intention to prosecute)
.
LJ/Aquaria @ 34
Same here in Georgia–horribly red. Had to wait in line for an hour this evening—really unusual in this rural area. Poll workers said business was booming all day long.
CNN just called Lieberman the winner.
Uh Oh…nbc.com predicting Lieberman victory. I’m very sad right now.
CNN just called it for Lieberman too.
Drat!
All right, we’ve got other battles to fight. Keep those spirits up!
Okay, that’s weird about CNN. Here is CT they’re showing only 2% of precincts reporting in with Joe at 49% and Ned at 40%.
These are the behind the scenes numbers that I can see, but I don’t know if they’re based on that 2% or more:
Lamont: 183235
Lieberman: 234330
Schlesinger: 45482
Connecticut has so much military funding….
MSNBC (Tweety) calling it for Lieberliar
Ya know, on an otherwise brilliant night, I hate to say this, but I think I’d almost rather see 50-48 R than 49/49 if Mr. Leiberman prevails…..
____
And I do not mean that as a disparagement of all that you all have done at FDL and in other places, it’s just that I can’t bear the thought of him Lieberman throwing the final Senate lever over to that malevolent misanthrope with the metronomic moniker of Doom.
.
Must think positive, taking 7 Senate seats won’t leave Joe in the catbird seat.
VA just tightened! 77% reporting.
Republican 858,105 49.68%
Democratic 848,445 49.12%
Lieberman was nervous a few minutes ago and is not declaring victory yet.
I’ve decided not to believe it. I’ll wait till all the votes are counted.
Now, think good thoughts for Mike Arcuri in NY
Somebody please tell me, what does it mean that Wall Street is rallying on the prospect of our party taking the House? Wall Street rallies for the prospect of a Democratic victory? Can’t recall this ever happening before… that our country is now being so badly misruled and so blatently corrupt that even the ever-pro-status-quo money managers and institutional investors ‘ere on the side of change? What a pathetic state of affairs we have… ‘course maybe the market just likes the prospect of gridlock. Still.
NBC now has the tally 47/45 favoring Lieberman.
I’m not giving up
