Christy and TRex say howdy!
So, we're hanging out here at Tryst. Scott Johnson of Powerline just referred to me as the "cute red head from Firedoglake," no doubt earning the love of his Powerline readers for all eternity.
Oh yeah.
I'm sitting at a table with the lovely Jeralyn of TalkLeft. We're having some connection issues, but Clarence the Computer Wonder God is helping us out. Yay, Clarence. I'll see if TRex can get a snap of him later.
It's is a crazy mix of folks here. Behind me is Steve Clemons. Atrios is diagonal from me on a very comfy looking couch. The fabu Pam Spaulding of Pam's House Blend is to my right -- so great to meet her in person. TRex and John Amato are camping out on a cozy little setee. Jerome Armstrong is sitting on thee couch opposite me reading his e-mail with a Mona Lisa smile on this face (I'll find out the dirt on that one later...). Aravosis and Joe in DC are clear across the room and blogging away.
It's a little weird -- the wingnuts have staked out their little enclaves, and are scowling a lot. The progressive bloggers look a bit more relaxed and cheery -- with a few exceptions on both sides.
We all agree that the snacks here are quite tasty. And the staff here at Tryst are taking very good care of us. Just got an e-mail from Joe Wilson -- Hi Joe! -- and we may be getting some updates from the Dem HQ in a little while when polls start closing...which I will immediately share with you guys. It's an exciting evening -- and I'm getting ready to peruse some exit poll numbers. Wish you guys were here!
UPDATE: NeoJoe just stopped by to say hey! What a sweetie. I swear, we have the best readers. How's everyone holding up? Who is already breaking out the popcorn?

back to the phones. Can’t wait for final polls… so tense…
Hey Christy,
Saw you on the last live shot from Tryst. You look great!!
Meredith
Go team FDL!
Christy RAWKS!
You had some fabulous face time on CNN and look beautiful…, you don’t have a bad angle. Great job!!!
ROOTS!
Man, that’s not happened in ages - way back to Merry Fitzmas time. :)
Go Ned Go!
See Dick Run.
See Dick hide from Ned.
See Joe cry!
(This is supposed to be a childrens book so we’ll leave out Bush.)
Better Redd than Wolf1 *s*
Wonkette has Lamont up 47% to Lieber-moles 43% on the exit polls.
Please God, I’ll go back to church. Go Ned!
Hi Christy -
You look mahvelous!
Great shot of you earlier on CNN.
TRex -
Can’t wait for Late Nite.
Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to get those updates. And the FDL servers are doing well!
Woohoo! Go Dems!
I was feeling kinda apprehensive about this one, I’ve been disappointed so many times, but…
I’m starting to get this strange feeling…I don’t know what to make of it. It feels like something good is happening. But I don’t remember what that’s like, really. Or I don’t want to let it out of its cage until I’m sure it won’t get stomped to pieces.
dammit… did CNN have to use tryst?
the coffee at the diner just ain’t as good and no bagels… y’all owe me
Perhaps they’re unhappy with the coffee?
Ya’ll plugged in to any early information - exits or actual returns?
Does anyone know of a good site that is posting this stuff? I’m sure the networks are gun shy.
How’d Dick’s hunting trip today?
Christy, we’ve been watching you on CNN’s pans of Tryst. The camera loves your blue.
Go Lamont! You’re going to win!
I hope the wingnuts scowl all night long.
epu’d
Marky @ 215
this is the only thing that gives me hope…if the fix was in they wouldn’t be putting a positive spin on a loss, they would be denying the loss
I have to tell you I have not been this optimistic since 2004
holding breath
Greg @

You’d put in Dick, but not Bush?
Wait… That might be misinterpreted…
Where is Howie???
So wait, Pam at Atlas Shrugs isn’t there? What kind of “blog event” is this? Damn liberal Hollywood types. [/snark]
Go FDL community -
What amazing talents - what wonderful work.
Congratulations!
Love the Atrios cameo in the photo!

(FDL’s running fast and furious, and it’s only going to get crazier, so let’s recap once more for those who missed it earlier. . .)
Given the expected traffic here this evening, it’s a good time to be nice to the moderators who keep things running. Toward that end, and to make newcomers feel a bit more at ease, here’s some info that will keep your comments from landing in moderation or otherwise clog things up and make life difficult for the mods:
1. Size matters. Long posts get automatically put in moderation and require the mods to set them free. If you want to use a post from elsewhere, don’t cut and paste the whole thing, just give us a link and post a snippet. It saves space here, and gives the original author the traffic they deserve on their site.
2. Words matter. Especially those words that appear in email spam. Creative use of asterisks in words like “ins*rance” or “vi*gra” will keep things from getting caught in the filters.
3. Links matter. If you put a comment in with more than two links, it will end up in moderation. If you absolutely, positively have to have multiple links, you probably want to split it into multiple comments.
4. Attribution matters. If you are posting a news item, give us a link so we know where it came from, how timely it is, and how credible it is.
5. Preview is your friend. Before you send that post, especially if you’ve used bold, italics, or inserted a link, check it out by clicking the preview button before you submit it. It saves on the cleaning bills. FDL Regulars who have gotten used to using “Edit this Comment” will notice that this has disappeared for today, to keep the site moving more smoothly - so Preview, people!
6. Beware the ziggurat! Nested comments are fine, but after a couple they end up breaking the margins of the page and screwing things up until a mod can correct it manually. This is especially a problem if a link is embedded in the ziggurat. After a couple of levels, start a new comment or delete some of the internal quotes.
Finally, and most importantly: Do not feed the trolls. Don’t even quote them. It just encourages the trolls, and makes life difficult for the mods.
Welcome to the ‘Lake! The water’s warm, so jump right in.
Christy,
Your hair turned out GREAT.
[waves hi to TRex, the apple juice is for you big guy.]

Our bloggers are scrumptious!

egregious — we are the envy of all the bloggers because our readers love us enough to bring us muffins. Mwahahahaha. :) Seriously, though, it was a lovely gesture and we really appreciate it — and the muffins are a huge hit here.

NZ Radio now covering the election and interviewing voters in MD…”worst president ever”… There is keen interest here in the outcome. We’ll have some Kiwis over for chicken enchiladas tonight….don’t want to be alone and be this anxious.
I’m about to break out in hives. Let the force be with Ned!
According to MSNBC exit poll analysis, Dems and GOP split the votes of those concerned about illegal immigration 50/50. That’s what six years of uninterrupted rule will get you — a pissed-off base.
Redd, thanks for mentioning popcorn. I’m going to make a batch right now.
Christy, you look so nice! Good color choice! You too, TRex:)
ccmask @ 49
They better have sent those ballots back to sender, cc, or they’re in a world of hurt.
I went over this in another thread a few days ago. If the USPS delivers it, the mail is YOURS unless you return it. You pay the postage as the addressee or you return it for the postage to be affixed.
People also need to look at the return envelope and the literature sent to see if anything stated they would need extra postage, or, better yet, the exact amount of postage it would need.
TRex is so handsome.
And that it is about the physicality of the bloggers from me tonight!
Dang! results will be pouring in about the time I can get the hell out of here and go vote!
45 minutes one way, not to mention the time at the poll.
Some firepups may be feeling no pain by the time I can get back and partay.
I need an internet link to watch christy, anyone have it?
TRex! Give ‘em hell. Thanks for all kindnesses you have shown to me, both on the blog and off.
Cousin Eureka, I accept that lovely toast and raise one to you as well. How about Clark for Senate there in 08?
It’s okay, bustedknuckles. I can’t drink anymore, so I’ll be lucid.
Christy, I’m with you.
I wore the bluest damn shirt I had in the closet today.
2nd time I ever wore it. 1st time was for Steve Sinton’s visibility in GA-06 last Wednesday.
Christy,
You never snuggled with me like you did with the photo of T-Rex. Thank you.
Because your husband is very large, and always so near.
Kidding Mr. Reddhedd. I am truly in awe of your relationship with your wife. It is a message of hope to me, that someday, even I may find my soulmate.
I happen to know he scrolls through all these comments, and stops to read mine. My respect is returned, sir, times nine.
think progress;
All the polling numbers are so high!! 60%, 65%, 70%!!
Pat yourselves on the back FDLers, YOU got the vote out!
Hopefully you both get some much deserved rest. You’ve put some much effort in and look no worse for the wear.
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all your efforts, regardless of the final count.
oh, and t-rex is quite the looker…
p-rex, tfitznc thanks for the updates on the bellwether KY 03.
Olbermann is doing a GREAT job on MSNBC!! It’s great to see someone keeping Matthews in check..
Though nothing available yet, here’s a CNN link for their Projected Races to watch as the evening goes on.
Love the pic. I can feel the goodness !
I just voted AGAINST Diane Feinstein, I will vote AGAINST Boxer the first chance I get and I promise if Hillary gets the Dem. nod to run for Pres., I will vote for her opponent. Dem. leadership should pay the highest political price for abandoning Ned! GREAT EFFORT, NED!
Matthews keeps making little offscreen snorts at KO, like when Keith said, “Senator George Macaca Allen.” Clearly, Tweety is worried about his cocktail weenie access should folks think Keith’s his new friend.
Christy and TRex and Jane and Pach–
thank you all and thanks to all here.
I pray that our Republic and Democracy is restored tonight.
Bring the troops home and let us honor the dream that our founding fathers (and mothers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters and families) envisioned.

Hi Christy and TRex,
Still holding out hope, that you are among the leaders, that helped rescue this great nation. Of course, if we don’t win tonight, then we are also pretty much out of viable legal and peaceful options.
Rereading my comments above, it is probably a good thing I can’t seem to add coments to the following blog:
CNN | Blog Party
It definitely raises the credibility of the ‘CNN Blog Analysts‘ to have ‘firedoglake‘ appropriately represented.
Although emptywheel is a notable absentee. Maybe she’s too busy with her book.
Hey, if you guys have ‘talkingpointsmemo‘, right there with you, you are only inches away from illuminating ‘Rovo Calling‘, on camera.
I could fill this comment space with links, but I know you already have them.
[Mod Note; appreciate the sentiment, but you really have to limit the number of links per comment. please.]
