The Webb race is a real nail-biter!
Chris!
Ned 2012!
We voted!
Jane!
You are a Goddess!
Jane!
Good for Murphy, but I’m embarrassed to be from Connecticut. I feel like breaking something.
Had enough number 2 OMG I am so excited about Dems taking any freaking election!
I heart everyone who worked to elect dems!
Democracy lives!
OMG Lieberman sucks! I want to puke!
Gah. CNN’s got Lieberman on, with love flowing. What a smarmy smurf he is.
Thanks for the new thread. If we’d tried to put anymore people in the previous one, we were gonna need some lube.
Ugh. Lieberslug is smugging it up on CNN.
LJ/Aquaria @ 9
pinot spew alert!
The guys on MSNBC are spinning the geographical aspects of the vote - the northeast HATES Bush, and all Republicans, but just wait until the South and West come in. That will stop the tsunami. They conveniently forgot that Olympia Snowe is still an R in ME.
Webb is gonna give me a coronary, swear to the Spaghetti Monster.
Lieberman. Barf. Time for a bath. Back later.

You’re from the state that put up the man who actually stood up on his hind legs and said “THIS F*CKING WAR IS WRONG.” There’s a lot to be said for that. CT started as a little snowball that will probably turn into a 2008 avalanche. Keep on keeping on…
Menendez (NJ) just thanked the netroots for helping him. Damm straight…
Way to go Chris Murphy! Any thoughts on Diane Farell?
Webb a bit closer (11,000 votes) with 94.15% reporting.

Thanks for the warning. I was about to switch to CNN, but I think I’ll watch the Fox guys mope, instead.
Thanx Jane for everything
Thanks for the boost, Marion.
God, Hillary.
Billary on MSNBC. Hubby just asked if she was up for re-election.
Agh. I can’t take any more, too whipped after the marathon today with phonebanking and all the other crunching. I need to cut the cord and simply wait for the final in the morning.
But I am very, VERY happy to see “Have You Had Enough?” get the cred it deserves!
Hold the fort down, FirePups, and keep the faith.
Yeah, really arc-
You could be like Marion or I from Florida or Georgia- or even Texas or Mississippi. I’d love to be in a state like CT. They are usually ranked very high in education, unlike Florida. :(
Rob, keep an eye on VA for me, wouldya? ;)
I gotta get some food and give the hubby a kiss goodnight.
He’s hoping Dems win big, so I’ll be all happy and he can get…well…
raven @ 25
I do not like Hillary.
I try to like Hillary, I really do…but I just can’t seem to do it.
Im stuck watching MSNBC because I don’t have a TV
I’m about ready to punch Hillary when she talks about “creating good jobs”
I’m glad to hear about Murphy. There are quite a few good people winning tonight.
LJ/Aquaria @ 28
I’ll do my best!
I don’t know how any of you guys watch cable news! I can’t watch anyone except Olbermann.
i’m confused by the rush to call some races (ned!) and laxity in calling others. i checked some races on cnn that were still in the air with more than 60% of votes tallied. yet in conneticut they called it some time ago, like 20%. all seems kind of fishy but i suppose the media has magic binoculars for that sort of thing. fingers still crossed.
LJ/Aquaria @ 21
We may have to wait for the absentee ballots on this one.
Weldon history! He can take his daughter with him.
Joe Sestake takes down Weldon!!!!
CNN is declaring Sestak and Space winners.
I’ve asked several times about absentee ballots, and didn’t get any response. How and when are they counted in VA?
CNN just called Sestak over Weldon in the Penna 7th. Also Space over Padgett in Ohio. Two Dem pickups.
Sestak is a great win - yeah!
St. John McCain just on MSNBC
Matthews asks when did you first notice all the earmarks…
“Seven years…” and yet he hid the Abramoff implications before his committee…
I’m so angry I can’t continue this.
And damned tanning beds, he looked great…
he’s also had something done with those jowls…
He looks GREAT as the 2008 candidate.
And I’d just explained Rahm’s grins to my spouse…
now Hillary is telling of the exciting times in NY and she’s grateful that our constitution is alive and well… Shumer is so helpful, don’t ch know…
damn. Why is good news so hard to deal with????
Kalex @ 36
They have an automatic recount if its 1% of 1% or something- anyone know how much of their state was done electonically? and if any fraud charges happened?
gregariousred @ 31
She gives you a lot to try and like, regardless of what your political view. And, therein, lies the rub.

tfitznc re. NC-11 - looking gooooood - tks for the update.
Several mentioned earlier about putting a sock in Tweety’s mouth…….I vote for a plastic bag over his head! Why MSNBC has kept KO in the background tonite is beyond stupidity.

local TV-3 has Shays 56/Farrell 42.
Reception blurry so I don’t know the precincts reporting.
Funny, I am watching a local Nashville TV station and they are saying the race for senate between Ford and Corker is FAR from over.
They are discussing precincts and what could happen.
Ford could still pull this one out.
SOmeone tell Olbermann to sit up straight!! He’s a class act, outshines the other yahoos on MSNBC.
Marky @ 40
I would think they are counted after regular ballots. IANAL tho.
Marion–I lived in Georgia for three years…I feel your pain!
Great. Reid is on MSNBC saying he agrees with McCain and we all have to work together… Forgive me, but has he lost his frickin’ mind? When is the last time those SOBs tried to work with us? (Thinking…. thinking…. thinking… well, before Newt, for sure…) CRAP.
marion, I live in KY now, after 37 years of CA upbringing. I really feel your pain.
Brett @ 43
Not sure - but I did notice that traffic out of DC this evening was horrendous (I luckily don’t need to drive in it). With polls closing at 7:00 I wouldn’t be suprised if people didn’t get home in time. Another dirty trick (e.g. cause a couple of well-placed accidents)? - I wouldn’t put it past them.
Ken Mehlman is an ugly b*tch
Mike Arcuri declared winner in NY24. That’s a pick up from retired Boehlert
Liarman has morphed into Bush completely. And just like with dear leader, I can no longer watch Joe. I cannot do it. He scratches my mary spot.
MSNBC Keith Olbermann has been sabotaged
who put all that white wash on his nose?
He’s fine with a normal nose. No changes necessary!!!
and now Tweety interviews a gaunt Mehlman…
has Rove lost as much weight lately?
Oh Looky - Melman’s with Tweety. Ask him, what is Bush’s plan to win? Come on Chris…where are your balls now?
Not gonna happen. He’s going soft for Kenny.
Whoever said Mehlman looks Haggard is right—yucko puko
Here’s a little off-the-netroots tale for you firepups while we all chew our nails down:
Robin Weirauch. None of you have probably heard of her, unless you live in OH-5. She has no netroots support, she’s not a big national name. She’s just a good, decent person with a long history of local service. She ran in 04 and lost to Republican incumbent Gillmor something like 60/35. It was her first campaign.
Results from tonight (not the official results yet):
PAUL E. GILLMOR R 22258 50.64%
ROBIN WEIRAUCH D 21692 49.36%
(results from here:
http://www.co.wood.oh.us/boe/nov06.htm)
It’s a happy night here in Ohio, just knowing the soul-sucking evil that is Ken Blackwell appears to have been routed (and DeWine is serving drinks on the deck of the Titanic). But this statistic is amazing. Without any blitz of Internet or media support or coverage, sheer persistence and disgust with the Republican way of doing business coupled with a strong, aggressive old school campaign resulted in THAT. Go Robin!
VA Senate
Turnout: 47.46 %
Per NPR
Richmond and Petersburg are apparently still out and heavily D
Waccamaw @ 47
Where’s Timmeh? Does NBC have ongoing coverage? I would have expected Matthews and Russert. I’m glad they gave Keith some face time.
Mehlmann just said he wanted the Republicans to be a “big tent” party. Big closet party, more like it.
Webb still down about 12,000 with 95.13% reporting.
Hillary! just said she was for “transparency in government.” Let’s hold her (and everyone) to her (their) word. Having a D (or R) next to their name is not a free pass.
YAY Sestak!!!!
If certified count is within 1%, then VA loser can ask for recount.
1% is the numbah!
Simmons/Courtney still 50/50 with 56% reporting. 500 votes now between ‘em.
Shuler (D) in NC projected winner…
CNN is projecting Shuler as winner in NC.
I just saw Klein over Shaw (FL)! Pickup!
Goddamnit. There’s no fucking such thing as Islamic Fascism. It’s a made up boogeyman!
Oh god this guy on MSNBC is propogating the american dream; didn’t they take that away from us during the 80s?
Fairfax…three precincts out.
henrico co. 50-50
Holy shit. Webb, dear God.
Webb, beat that bastard by 1.01%.
T- @ 69
Is it 1% or half of 1%? I thought some talking head said half a percent…
DCCC says we just need 4 more seats per their count
People, remember:
House majority = SUBPOENA POWER
Keep that in mind as the night goes on.
And tomorrow begins the race for ‘08. A marathon, not a sprint. We have done BRILLIANTLY for the first few times around the track, and we need to keep going.
I think I’m counting 10 House seats picked up, whaddaya the rest of you have?
I know I sound like a little kid or something, but what if the actual vote count in CT shows that Ned won? Does a concession mean there’s no going back?
Lieberman, Joe CTL 163,719 47.86
Lamont, Ned Dem 135,895 39.72
Schlesinger, Alan GOP 34,883 10.20
thank you NED
kristinejoy @ 79
What’s the required percentage to defeat an automatic recount?
Fairfax city is out. And Fairfax is going 60% for Webb.
And Prince William co, still not all reporting.

Where was their support for Lamont?
There was precious little of it, and you know it. That can make a huge difference in such an important race.
DairyMaid @ 88
Prince William is one of the exurbs of DC and has been going blue slowly (but still is predominantly Republican). Depends on the precincts - if it is SE Prince William that hasn’t reported that could be positive.
Negron just conceded to Mahoney in Florida.
bbuster @ 82
Nope. A concession has no legal meaning at all.
Wow. CNN has Foley at 48%. I’m speechless…

another pick up in PA (idiot Sherwood’s district)… Carney (D) takes it…

Yes - I know what you mean. I just got back from Lamont headquarters in Bethel after poll standing for 10 hours and getting the final counts from the polling place. I was bullshit when they called the race for Lieberman based on exit polls - they had just finished the count from my one little polling place (around 8:45)
If RevDeb, selise & scarecrow are around - I don’t have the energy to go up to Meriden - but I am with you in spirit.
We fought the good fight. If the Dems had lifted a finger to help Ned - and had put Lieberliar in his place - Ned would have won easily.
The Clintons, DCL, Schumer et al can go screw themselves. In fact, I will actively work against Hillary any opportunity I can. If I give any money to the Dem party it will be either directly to Howard Dean or to individual candidates through ActBlue.
I will not forget what they did in CT
Ned - I just want to say that you are a class act and it was a priviledge doing whatever I could to get you elected. You deserve much better than the Dem leadership gave you and we won’t let them forget. But you fought the good fight and have many devoted followers.
R) Deboarah Pryce at 51% D) Mary Jo Kilroy at 49%, in OH-15. Still votes to go, but this is another one Ken Blackwell sabotaged in Columbus.
I feel like I broke out the wine too early…
Tweety just said we take the House…
From the google,
Under Virginia law, a candidate who finishes more than 0.5 of a percentage point but less than 1 percentage point behind can as for a recount, but pay the costs if the result is unchanged. If the final margin is less than 0.5 of a percentage point, local governments cover the cost of a recount.

How is Mr. Friedman doing?
Interesting . . .
CNN’s online tally for the IL House races has most of the usual suspects retaining their seats. One of the races that still is too close to call with 44% of the vote counted, however, is IL-15, home to Denny Hastert.
Bears watching . . .
TJ is a fair weather fan. Red Sox maybe? If Lamont had won, he would have run a brilliant campaign.
MSNBC is projecting 231 dems 204 repugs in the house.
