WaPo:
In Bridgeport, the state's largest city and an aging industrial port, 80-year-old Bill Moll was dismayed by the robo-calls he received. The Republicans launched a blizzard of those automated phone calls, attacking Farrell. And because the calls began with a cheery notation about Farrell, some voters assumed the Democrat had sponsored the calls.
"It's unbelievable how many calls I got about Farrell — drove me nuts," said Moll, who put on his hearing aid to field these calls. "It's why I voted for Shays."
Told that many of the calls were likely sponsored by national Republicans, Moll shrugged. "Then I voted for the wrong reason," he said.
Ken Mehlman has been all over the TV today, looking a bit haggard and screaming about Democratic voter intimidation, completely unanswered by major Democrats who were, I suppose, too busy. Looks like Digby's prediction could be right.

GO Dems!
It’s on….OH Motherfuckers…Its ON
These people are shameless
CNN: Webb won 56% of women, 42% of veterans.
These numbers are not good for Allen.
Beat the bastards down with good old GOTV and a sense of civic pride.
EPU’d -
_____
OK, starting to be a lot of breathless early exit poll chatter about how good things are starting to look for ousting the GOPervs and the Bush criminal lackeys. High turnouts, lots of change-the-course anger, etc.
But I still can’t shake that bad feeling that tomorrow it’ll once again be a wailing of “how could the exit polls have been so wrong?”
We know how.
_
CNN: 1/3 of anti-gay marriage voters also voted for Webb.
This also not good for Allen.

Wonder how many female veteran votes he won.
If I were in VA, this one would have voted for him.
EPU’ed, alas.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy Roves
Did mire and bumble in the way:
All flimsy were the pundocrats,
And the memes ran all day.
“Beware the Jorgerbush, my son!
The jaws that flap, the quotes that clash!
Beware the Mehlmehl bird, and shun
The frumious Coultergeist!”
The Jorgerbush, with eyes of blame,
Came mumbling through the too long word,
And burbled out a name!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal pen went snicker-snark!
He left it with its empty head
And went guffawing back.
“And, has thou slain the Jorgerbush?
Come to my arms, my beamish blogger!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy Roves
Did mire and bumble in the way:
All flimsy were the blogocrats,
And the memes ran all day.
Sense of doom and gloom in cnn’ers voices.
Looks like jeff greenteeth has been to the dentist.
WEBB and NED!
Oh please, let this be true.
All of my family and friends in my former states voted for these guys.
PLEEZE!
Go Hodes!
deeeeeeeeep breath
TPM says, “In the 2004 presidential election, President Bush won 79% of the evangelical vote.”
TeddySanFran @ 12
thank you
MSNBC reported about a VA woman who got a call telling her inaccurately that her polling place had changed.
Ok, AP is reporting Webb got 68% of women polled….
isn’t Va. closed now?
it’s a good thing horse races don’t last all day.
Sometimes, being EPUed is not a bad thing.
(Look it up!)
Tryst next wolfie says…

Think of the effect on the accuracy of exit polls of voters who elected to vote early or vote absentee, and think also of the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of stratified sampling. (Some years have gone by since the statistics courses I took in graduate school.) What else would you add?
Next summer, after Ned has become Sen LAmont, I think we need to all go for a swimming picnic at his local watering hole.
We can rechristen it Fire Dog Lake!!
Paraphrasing Keith, white Evangelicals upset by “corruption,” and turning to the Democrats.
Too aerly to order some Dem rubber stamps?
I have serious reservations about Webb but he would have gotten this vets vote too!
dharmarific @ 21
you know what?
I actually have a little bit of greatfullness that rove was not yet idicted
if he were, he would be able to claim the democratic win was not his fault
with him in his position, this is a slap in his face, a direct assault on the notion that he is some kind of marketing genious
Somebody call Howie and tell him to breathe also. *S*

Gas prices are at their lows and little changed. Crude oil supplies appear good, holding prices down. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks after the elections. Fundamentals look like they would keep prices low into late December or early January. If they don’t, something else is going on.
blogger party coming up on CNN!
They need rubber boots.
CNN projects that VA marriage amendment (one man, one woman) will pass.

IMO that covers it except for the typical MOE on the final exit poll for a race is about 4%

Reporters Want Names Of Storm Victims

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
ATLANTA – A lawyer argues that the Federal Emergency Management Agency should give several Florida newspapers the addresses of hurricane aid recipients so that the media can determine if government money was properly disbursed.
Charles Tobin told a panel of the Eleventh U-S Circuit Court of Appeals today that the public interest in obtaining that information outweighs any potential privacy rights that the applicants have in keeping their addresses confidential.
But FEMA lawyer Mark Stern argued that applicants for hurricane assistance are assured privacy when they apply, and that right should be protected.

My understanding is that the relevance of KY 3 is the “wave.” KY 03 was supposed to be “safe” Repubican. If Yarmuth wins, it’s indicative of a Dem wave. The issue so far is not “if” Dems will retake the House, but by how much.
Byrd wins, Christy.

YAY!!! Buh-buy Blackwell. Do not darken the door of our nation again.
I was left alone in the other room to celebrate the demise of Ken Blackwell. Well, I toasted to myself. :)
You know, this could be a very big night for Pelosi.
Beard5- Yeah, Bernie has been a guaranteed win for some time, and they’re just confirming that on CNN now. Bernie is a hot ticket, I worked on Mayor’s Council for Women years ago when he was mayor of Burlington, VT. Straight shooter, yup. Fire in Belly, yup. Great progressive addition to the Senate, definitely.
MSNBC’s coverage is (1) available on the Web (CNN’s is hidden behind a pay wall, it seems), (2) has Keith Olbermann.
MSNBC calls West ByGod for Robert Byrd.
Whew. That was a cliffhanger.
Not.
Byrd’s 9th term.
MSNBC projects Strickland (D) wins Ohio.
That’s nice.

Kentucky Woman could probably tell you more but the 3rd District is Louisville and most of Jefferson County. West End is black. East End is white/yuppie. South End is middle and lower middle class white. North End is the Ohio River. So depending which precincts have reported, it’s still up in the air.

Yes, Ron Zuber, I have heard that Webb expects to be behind early and finish strong. I think the Webb campaign has to be happy with these numbers.

I cannot STAND that woman. Each time I see her, and this is the part Christy won’t like, I say to the room “I hate that fat-faced fuck!”

Schumer, live on CNN, saying Northern Virginia votes have not been counted yet.

bbuster –
Never in my life did I ever use the word “fat” as an epithet — until the day Rush Limbaugh called Chelsea Clinton a “dog.”
From that day forward I called him an “evil fat fuck.”
The word as an epithet only occurs to me when the person as person is extremely ugly — as their soul appears to me.
And then it only seems to me that I use it because it brings to mind the metaphorical sense of “piggishness” and complacency.
My mom was overweight in her later years. She was highly embarassed about it — and I always, always told her (truthfully) that she was BEAUTIFUL, because her soul shone brightly.
So I know where you’re coming from on this one.
